We took advantage of the lockdown situation and decided to take holidays in Lewis, which we wouldnt normally do, we would usually take ourselves abroad! Silly us! It was our first proper remote, self catering holiday and we were a little dubious but this house, and it’s location, is simply stunning. It is remote but that’s exactly what we were looking for! there is an extremely well stocked community shop 5 minutes drive away. Due to Covid the uig sands restaurant and the abhain dearg distillery were shut, these are both extremely close to the property but we didn’t need them! The kitchen is so well equipped that it’s a pleasure to cook in. The beach in front of the property is world class and the view is constantly changing. Coming back after a cold, windy walk on the beach to the sauna and jacuzzi bath is a real treat! We were also worried that we would be stuck for things to do while we were there but we could easily have done another week! The whole island, as well as the isle of Harris, is absolutely beautiful. We enjoyed walks every day (even in Nov!) and got out and explored! The search for Mangersta Bothy was an adventure and well worth the effort! I have nothing bad to say about this place, I didn’t want to leave! The views are constantly changing and we even enjoyed the stormy weather we got towards the end of the week. What a place to experience a strong north westerly wind! There is an abundance of wildlife right on the doorstep. We spotted golden eagles over the house, a family of deer in the front garden, lots of seals and seabirds and we even heard of a sighting of a pod of 15 sperm whales off the coast! we drove to the butt of Lewis and did the lighthouse walk in the hopes of seeing them! The house has binoculars provided so it’s easy to spend ages spotting out the window. We simply loved our stay, can’t recommend highly enough. George was really helpful and a really nice guy to deal with. They have created something special with Beach Bay Cottage! We will be back Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

This is a magical beach cottage.

This is a magical beach cottage. My husband and I had the most wonderful time here. The view is stunning, ever changing, and we could have stared at it all day. The location is quiet, with a restaurant nearby (although it is not open in the winter months) and a great community shop which has everything you need. The owner of the cottage is brilliant (very welcoming and genuinely helpful). One of the best cottages we have ever staying in. Simply outstanding. This cottage was without doubt the best place we have ever stayed in.

This cottage was without doubt the best place we have ever stayed in. The cottage is beautifully fitted out with everything you could possibly need to enjoy your stay. The views from the lounge window are just mind blowing. We spent hours just sitting and enjoying the ever changing sea view. The peace and tranquility were just what we needed during these strange times. There are many walks straight from the cottage and there are interesting places to visit on Lewis & Harris ( although sadly due to Covid all visitor centres etc were closed. ) The local community shop is extremely well stocked and their delivery service means you can arrive to a well stocked fridge & freezer with no need to shop en route. The restaurant at Uig Sands is excellent and the Scallop Shack is great if you want to pick up some to cook yourself! We can’t wait to return to this amazing place! Beach Bay Cottage is excellent with stunning views but is in a fairly isolated location. The cottage is well equipped and is very spacious and comfortable. If you haven’t stocked up in Stornoway then there is a local community shop, which is likely to have most things you will need, including petrol and diesel, about 10 minute drive from the cottage. Wildlife spotting from the cottage was excellent. May be seen as a bit pricey if it’s just the two of you but worth treating yourselves. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

A very unique cottage which was absolutely breathtaking.

A very unique cottage which was absolutely breathtaking. We had great weather and the ever changing views were spectacular. We saw eagles and deer every day as well as an array of different birds. The cottage itself is 5 star luxury and we couldn't fault anything. We were celebrating my parents 60th anniversary and George and Lynda made it extra special by their kind gift. A one of a kind experience and we will be back.

Beach Bay Cottage is a home from home experience and with beautiful views too. Everything you need is here, it's 5* luxury with a gorgeous restaurant and perfectly adequate shop and fuel station within 5 minutes drive. Just beware on Sundays everything is shut on Lewis so unless you're booked in for lunch make sure you are stocked up with food on Saturday.

Beach Bay Cottage is location wise absolutely outstanding - if you love remote places, as we certainly do! The cottage is everything you can hope for: very well maintained, spacious, comfortable, luxurious ... and has this absolutely stunning view! The bay is astounding, as the sea comes and goes. The sand is amazingly fine and everything is completely free of dirt. Pristine beaches all around. George and Lydia are very attentive hosts, who also give rather valuable hints for exploring the nature around. We will certainly keep Beach Bay Cottage in mind and plan to return one day!

The cottage is everything we wanted.

The cottage is everything we wanted. Absolute luxury, nothing we could want for and wonderful silence except for the sounds of the sea and birds. We didn’t go for local amenities and there is nothing close to the cottage but that’s fine. The community shop at Uig is excellent and only 10 minutes drive away. I wouldn’t bother stocking up in Stornoway too much as the shop has lots to choose from. There are no pubs or restaurants within easy walking distance. The Uig Sands restaurant is 10 mins drive and is very good. If you want a peaceful, romantic setting in a luxury dwelling they don’t get much better than this.

This place is truly magical.

This place is truly magical. The house is beautifully conceived and blends so well with its stunning surroundings. Even it’s subtle scheme echoes the stunning colours of Uig bay. Everything has been thought of to make the house and the stay easy and relaxing. You feel made very welcome by George and Lynda and get the sense they want you to love it as much as they do! It’s quite difficult to leave the house sometimes! But when you do, there is plenty to occupy within walking distance - stunning coastal walks, the Uig Sands restaurant, and possibly the best distillery tour ever at Abhainn Dearg distillery at the end of the road. Seriously difficult to say farewell at the end of our week ? Just perfect.

Second time we have stayed at this beautifully appointed and located cottage. Interestingly there is now more competition in terms of other properties which may not be quite so high end, thus Beach Bay cottage still holds the cache. However given the price differential one could consider taking 2 weeks in one of the other closely located, well appointed cottages and enjoy the vista for another week longer. Beach Bay cottage remains breathtaking.

On our arrival at Beach Bay Cottage we were immediately blown away by the absolutely stunning location, with the cottage perched on the hillside literately overlooking Uig bay. The bespoke design and high standard of finish in the cottage fits perfectly into its surroundings and is worthy of its five star rating. The views from the picture window in the living area are trully spectacular, ever changing with the contrasting weather, light and tides providing a magical atmosphere. The cottage is equipped with TVs throughout, however they were never on, in favour of the silence and darkness of the location. Beach bay is ideally situated to enjoy the remoteness of the area, the local amenities are scarce but the Uig community shop 5min drive away, is very well stocked to provide all groceries and fuel. Cannot complete this review without mentioning the Scallop Shack a 10 min drive away, where the hand dived scallops are truly outstanding! This is the perfect spot to chill and recharge your batteries, there are great beaches, great walks and spectacular scenery from the moment you step outside the door and plenty more nearby. We had a fantastic week at Beach Bay Cottage and would highly recommend a visit should the opportunity arise.

Don’t know whether you have to be a specific type of person to stay here,but we are certainly those people. The peace and quiet is what we wanted. The community shop is great. Views from the cottage are perfect and we saw deer, eagles and seals every day. Trip to Harris was excellent and scenery was beautiful. The cottage is fantastically laid out and very warm even on the coldest days. But if people structured entertainment you need to travel some distance. However this is the last thing we wanted so the place is perfect.

The week in the Beach Bay Cottage was amazing as expected. We choose it because of it incredible location and how it was looking online. When we arrived there it was as we hoped and we could enjoy a week in one of the most peaceful places on earth. And one week was even too short to see everything, so we left some things for going back there. But also the house itself is perfect. The style inside and outside made you feel in haven with all luxury you could expect!
