Pether Cottage is a relaxing country Cottage. It has the small town feel about it. Talbingo is at the bottom of a mountain, with beautiful mountain views.

In winter there is snow play, bush walks if weather is fine and Yarrangobilly Caves. Why not have a swim in the thermal pool that is 27 degrees celcius all year around. Regardless of the outdoor temperature.

Great property close to tourist attractions

We stayed here 3 nights over Christmas with a 5 year old mastiff, very cosy and great backyard for dogs . Will be back in the snow season to see the area in white :)

Pet Friendly - dogs are most welcome inside. Pets love nature, trees and gardens. Lots of walks around the 3 dams, Jounama Creek and Bargo State Forest with dogs. Just clarifying that it is on rare occasions that snow falls actually in Talbingo but during the snow season only need to drive 10 - 15 minutes up the hill to Kosciusko National Park to get snow falls.

Talbingo is a very quiet and peaceful little town. It is a great place to go to if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of life. You can go for beautiful walks that are as close as a 5 minute drive away. Or you can see kangaroos in the front yard of the Cottage in the early mornings, and sometimes even peacocks!

Bought new vacuum cleaner in January 2016 and replenished stock in kitchen. While staying in January 2016 had a visit from a kangaroo and peacock along with variety of birds first thing in morning.

Awesome family summer short getaway

Pether Cottage was clean and very comfortable for our short getaway. It is close enough to Yarrangobilly Caves for our planed activities and to Tumut for evening meals the location was great for us.Talbingo itself was so peaceful for evening walks and a short drive up to power station had some awesome views of the surrounding areas.We were very happy with David who answered all our questions as we never travelled with our dog before and the property was great for all of us.

Cosy cottage

We stayed there for 2 nights during the new year and enjoyed our stay. There are enough beds for 8 people and some more extra mattresses. The backyard was well maintained.

Wendy is our cleaner, mower, gardener and maintenance person. Hilary and I are so fortunate to have her maintain the cottage for us. Just recently did gardening and pruning. Nice green grass sloping backyard for all to enjoy.

Having visited Canada and seeing the colours of Autumn (Fall), Talbingo is one of those few spots in Australia where it is colourful like Canada with the colour of leaves. We are pet friendly.

We are budget accommodation only 57 km from Mount Selwyn Snowfields. We will get a new vacuum cleaner when we go down there in November / December 2015

Cosy little cottage

We enjoyed staying at Pether Cottage. The bedrooms are very warm with Daikin heaters. The hot water from shower/bath came instantly which made bathing little children very easy. Talbingo is a lovely town to stay and only short drive to Mt Selwyn snowfield. Pether Cottage is very close to the Country Club and the restaurant there serves very good Chinese food too!

Because Talbingo can be very cold in winter there are air conditioners with both heating and cooling in the lounge room, and both the bedrooms. There is also a clothes dryer (as well as a washing machine) as trying to get clothes dry in winter can be very difficult.

Nice quite place

Old but nice and clean good air con and heating lots of room we stayed with our 2 dogs good house for pets but if they like to escape the yard is not the best fencing but did the job for our staffys but they dont wonder like some dogs like to. But all up a great place for the price and so nice and quite

It is old but it has a cottage style character and is comfy. We have 3 DAIKINs located in Living Area, main bedroom and 2nd bedroom for cooling and heating. If you don't have escaping dogs the fencing is adequate. Taken note for a future project to get more secure fencing in the weak spots. Within month or so we are rolling out WiFi - Netflix - Stan - YouTube and other TV apps.

Great location for high country exploration.

Have stayed at Pether Cottage many times over the years and always enjoyed the experience. This time was visited by the peacock and several kangaroos on front lawn. Despite the frigid conditions outside the cottage is always warm, cosy and comfortable. My Collie dog loves lying round big backyard and never jumps the fences. Great value for money.

There are 2 (as far as I know) peacocks that roam around Talbingo. You will quite often see them in the front yard of the Cottage. As well as kangaroos.

Convenient dog friendly cottage

Many thanks for another comfortable stay at Pether. Although very cold outside and snow on hills, house was comfortably warm. A nice touch to have house preheated for my arrival. Great backyard for my Collie dog although one frosty morning he had to share it with several kangaroos. Wild horses galore in high country foraging for grass in the deep snow. Tough creatures. Until next time.

As stated you can see a variety of animals, from kangaroos in the yard (There have even been peacocks in the yard) Up on the mountains there are heaps of horses roaming in Kosciusko National Park. You may even see wombats and emus. We even once saw a platypus in a small creek near the power station in Talbingo!
