Chooks Paradise - located at Adelaide North

All are welcome to stay at Chooks Paradise for 2 nights minimum if you are able to bring your own linen or sleeping bags. Pillows, pillowslips, towels and blankets will still be provided. If staying longer than 2 nights, all manchester will be provided.
The bathroom has had a bit of an up-grade, and the bath has been removed, due to dodgy old pipes, so from March of 2023, there is no bathroom, only a shower room.
Close to the CBD in Gilles Plains, this two bedroom house comfortably accommodates 2 people. There are 3 x single beds, and therefore I would accept bookings for 3 x people, but it will be cramped, so please take on board this info.
A small timber framed house with basic accommodation. One step up from camping.

Please note - as the name suggests, this is a Paradise for chickens, not for people. However, the chickens have all now passed into the big chook heaven, all from old age.
This is a small, old, tatty, dilapidated house. People who book this place should be aware that they are staying for convenience, not for a magical experience for themselves.
Located in a quiet street within walking distance to the bus and Gilles Plains Shopping Centre, where there is an Aldi supermarket, and also Woolies.
5km to the major shopping centre of Tea Tree Plaza.
Would suit people who have appointments in Adelaide, eg. Modbury Hospital, Adelaide CBD, Family Reunions, Shopping, Sporting Events at Adelaide Oval, Pop Concerts, etc.. Half an hour's drive to the closest beach.

I just loved my stay at Chooks Paradise. Had everything I needed. Off street parking, outdoor covered area and the house was very comfortable. If ever I am back in Adelaide I would hope I could stay at Chooks Paradise again.

We had lovely stay at chooks paradise. We (and our pets) were made to feel very welcome. We had just moved interstate and our stay here let us take a breath and find our feet. Communication with Lisette was excellent, I would recommend for anyone travelling with their fur babies.

Great for the dogs, they loved it. Lisette was very helpful. and found for us dog friendly parks. It is so close to all the shops, businesses and restaurants.Had a comforable stay.

Safe haven for dogs

This house is full of character and love. It felt familiar and nostalgic. A great home base in Adelaide. My dog was comfy and safe. As per the listing, it is a ramshackle house and old fashioned, but everything you need is there, and Lisette is very generous and communicative.

If your not looking for luxury then this will suit. Bathroom was nice, beds comfy, everything you need and more for cooking ECT. No double bed though. Value for money. Had a nice stay and would go back again.

Happy camper

I was super happy with my stay at Chooks. This is not the Hilton, this is a home and you can feel the love. I live on the road full time with my dog and we stayed here during a heat wave. It was so nice to relax in the homely lounge in air conditioning with plenty of movies and books for entertainment. Lisette is a wonderful host and our comfort was her priority.

A little gem

We loved the feel of the house and it contains everything and more including a great selection of books and a big rambling garden that looked like it was once a nursery. Our dog loved exploring the yard and felt at home. We had a great stay but being hobby gardeners were itching to tidy up the back yard! Heaps of potential there.

Better than expected

The pictures don’t do this place justice. For an old property yes it has its defaults but for what we were looking for it was great. We were able to take our dog and she was made to feel comfortable and welcome. We will definitely book again.

Pups trip

The owner was lovely and our 2 fur babies just adored her place. We were in Adelaide to watch our grandkids in a basketball comp and we don't like to leave our dogs but when we got back they were just so chilled and happy . Affordable accommodation with an excellent host

Don't let first appearances fool you. This is very affordable accommodation with almost everything you could possibly need for a long-term stay in Adelaide. The property sits on a huge 900 sqm block with a private driveway, securely gated parking, DVD/PVR recorder, heating, air-conditioning, fully equipped kitchen and the list continues. Lisette is an excellent host with terrific communication. We even received very useful shopping tips, fast food discount coupons, a whole tray of brownies, and a family referral to the fudge shop in Hanhdorf. Lisette is an absolute angel! As an added bonus the property was filled with vintage 1950s, 60s and 70s furniture and items. It was a pleasantly nostalgic stay and we would very gladly rebook next time.

House of horrors

Do not stay here! It is a hoarded filthy stinking mess. It gives this website a bad name. Rodent infested, I couldn't find a clean towel without mouse poo on it. Shower mouldy. Carpet rotting in lounge room. Awful place. Was frightening to stay there. Hated every second. The owner didn't even clean the place between my separate bookings. Outrageous.

BEWARE!!! Property & owner unworkable

Should be called Hoarders paradise. This property is old which is fine for a short stay however the owner fails to add that the house has only single beds, the power goes off because I can only assume the wiring is dodgy and the rooms at floor to ceiling high with “stuff”. We were staying 14 days and cancelled after 4 days to vacate the 9th day owner has refused to refund, refused to answer our calls. Stayz have said they can’t help.

Great Place

It was a really neat and tidy house and the owners were lovely and kind to my family, the best part about it was how they made my dog feel welcome and a comfortable place to live. Looking forward to visiting Adelaide again.

I am a fervent supporter of Animal Welfare, and have volunteered in the past for the Animal Welfare League, the RSPCA, Free the Bears and the Orangutan Project. My annual donations are sent to Four Paws, Animals Asia and Animals Australia.

Por qué escogió este alojamiento

Without question, you would choose this property entirely for your pets. It only has two bedrooms, with three single beds. The dogs are welcome to stay inside the house with their owners.
I know that Chooks Paradise has received a couple of bad, brutal reviews, and I do feel that these were a little harsh. On the up-side, I do receive many notes and e-mails from dog owners who say the house was very popular with their pets, and perfectly served their purposes - and from my own perspective, this is the name of the game.

Situated in a quiet street, close to bus stops and a short trip to the Paradise Interchange, where a connecting bus will travel to all areas of Adelaide.
