Nice quiet place in a great location
THE SETTING: We loved the quiet bush setting, with lots of trees, birds, and country solitude. It was a bit disconcerting to see a large tiger snake right beside the driveway next to our car on the first day, so we had to keep our eyes out for snakes throughout our stay, but we left him alone and didn't see any more of him! There are other cottages nearby (it's part of a larger complex called Yallingup Farm Cottages), and for the most part the neighbours were quiet, although on the Saturday night some people showed up and were playing music until around midnight, including some awful sounding saxophone! The location is superb, being close to Yallingup (Smiths Beach and Canal Rocks are an easy drive away), and also within easy driving distance of the shops in Dunsborough.
INDOORS: There are two bedrooms, one with a double bed, the other with two bunk beds. There's not a lot of extra room besides the beds, but it is adequate. The living area had a couple of couches and a dining table which could seat six. There's one toilet and one small bathroom - the shower didn't provide consistent temperatures with water, going from hot to cold and hot rather unpredictably, and took some figuring out. It was nice having a dishwasher and air conditioning, as well as a TV/DVD player. There were some spider webs on the ceilings, and the building is showing some age (which is part of its charm), but overall it was tidy and fine for our family.
OUTDOORS: We really enjoyed the outdoor areas, with a comfortable couch on the front veranda, and an armchair and dinner table on the back verandah. Beautiful places to sit and relax with a good book! We had a lovely week, and would recommend this place.
