Great neighborhood close to restaurants and Jaco. The community pool and swim Up bar were great.

I would rent this property again for sure. We felt secure in the gated community and close to lots of great restaurants and downtown Jaco. It was a pleasure.

Terrific house! Wonderful amenities, very clean, comfortable and accommodating.

We had a group of 9; 2 adults and 7 kids and everyone was very comfortable. A very new and nice home in a terrific community. Will definitely return!

Best winter holidays

The house was exactly as described with plenty of sleeping and common spaces for our two families of 4. The location had great access to activities (parks, ATV, zip lines). The beach club pool and bar were a great bonus. Rob was easy to communicate with and quick to respond to issues and questions. We would definitely come back.

Excellent home for large groups

The property was easy to find with Waze and the check-in process at the security gate was a breeze. We were greeted by the on-site property caretakers at the house and gave us their contact information as well. The house was exactly as described. The club house and beach are a few meters away with great dinning and bars about a 3 minute drive. Great relaxing weekend. Pura Vida!

Excellent

We loved this house. It is even nicer than it looks in the photos. Spacious, clean, comfortable. The pool table is really nice and we spent a lot of time shooting pool. The roof deck has beautiful views of ocean. It’s a 3 minute walk to very nice big pool with swim up bar and restaurant. Excellent food, and right off beach. Riptides make this beach dangerous to swim in which was the only downside but there’s a good swimming beach not too far of a drive away. The town, Jaco, is a short drive and very nice. You’ll probably want to rent a car as taxis got kind of expensive. Overall a great experience. We’d definitely stay here again!

Great Location and property

The house is in a great location with easy beach access and a fabulous pool and beach club. For families with kids the beach club is great. There is a swim up bar and the food at Yo-yo’s was terrific. The day we arrived, there was a problem with flies, like due to the previous renters. Vicki was very responsive at any issues we had were immediately addressed. The size of the house was great, but the furnishings could use some upgrade. The coffee maker was the slowest, taking forever to brew a pot. Our family of 6 adults had comfortable sleeping arrangements and would go back again.

Absolutely amazing

This home was AMAZING. We enjoyed the space. The kids loved the pool table and the access to the beach club and the beach was about 3 minutes if that. The host was quick to answer any questions. He even brought over extra bikes so everyone would have one to ride if we so desired. We did however have a resident bat...which was a bit scary. It was a small bat but still a bit scary. It initially was in the area where the fountain was but clearly found its way into the house not sure how. We only saw it a few times so it wasn't a deal-breaker. Hopefully, they will find it and get rid of it for the next guests. The community is great!! Yoyo is amazing and we will definitely be back to visit! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Pura vida in a condo

Rob’s property is south of Jaco, and beach adjacent. We called it the banana house-only because 3yr old liked the yellow property. It is in a quiet community, near a 4-5 mile Long Beach that has waves for days. The community pool and YoYos beach bar are awesome and so friendly for guests. So robs place is beautiful; only thing negative about it: there is a smell that is akin to underlying mold. You quickly got nose-blind to it, but it still exists. The house has nice furnishings and when AC is needed (always) it is very refreshing and cold. We were a party of 10, plenty of seating and plates and whatnot. Beds aren’t your special ones from home-but they sleep good-couches are cozy for relaxing, outdoor furniture is cozy for relaxing in the morning or evening. The pergola perch on too has amazing views in the morning and it’s so nice to have breakfast there. The bad: so that smell is musty like the was AC on then abruptly off and mold growing as result. EVERYTIME we entered the home it smelled “funky” then quickly go away. Not sure if there is mold-it just had a noticeable odor that quickly goes away…Again it’s probably difficult to avoid given the ultra humid climate….but it does exist. The neighbor had 3 dogs that bark constantly, if you’re outside they bark, if you’re inside they bark. Nice dogs-just bark constantly and they tend to ignore the barking. It was annoying but it is what it is. His place is otherwise amazing and we enjoyed everything else.

Needs an update

We arrived at the property after a long drive to discover that we were given an incorrect password to gain access. We had groceries that needed to be refrigerated and four hot kids. We sat outside while my husband walked to the guard station and after 45 minutes of waiting he received a code that worked. We entered a very hot and stinky house. The area to the left of the front door had a strong smell of urine. The downstairs bedroom had a broken AC and, much to our surprise, a toilet with feces in it. After some back and forth communication and various people in the house and some installation noise, power tools and banging there was a functioning AC in the downstairs bedroom. However the property manager never followed up with us about the AC situation. After the house had cooled off the smells weren’t as noticeable. The house is big, plenty of places to sleep, has a nice pool table that we used quite a bit and it’s in a safe community at the end of a long unfinished road. However, there are problems. The house is quite dated, the furniture and rugs are pretty worn, the WiFi is in and out, and there are ZERO beach/pool towels so be prepared to bring your own. But the worst thing for us by far is the master bathroom. I’ve included a couple photos. The height of the mirror is comical but the shower/bath situation is not. We each used it once before deciding not to ever use it again and nicknaming it the “shower of death.” It’s that bad. There are slippery ceramic steps up to get in, then a BIG step down to the bottom of the tub with nothing to hold on to. There is a thin clear piece of plastic instead of a shower curtain to try and keep water from splashing out of the tub. You cannot hold on to it to balance yourself while getting in. It’s thin. Water gets on the ceramic steps so when you want to exit the shower there are slippery wet steps waiting for you to descend. Nothing to hold onto except for your dear life while you exit the shower of death. This master bath needs attention. We did not try the little pool outside or cook anything so we cannot attest to the functioning. I will add that the pool area is lovely. The first day we were there the credit card machines were down and they were only accepting cash. The second day we were there the store, restaurant/bar was closed. Lastly, at the black sand beach in front of the pool you will not see many guests in the water—but you will see plenty of surfers. That’s because it’s very dangerous.

Never again

It was horrible from the beginning. It wasn’t clean at all. My baby who is crawling on the floor had black knees after only 2 minutes. There was an ant nest in the living room with thousand ans thousand of ants. The toilet downstairs had poop all over it. There was constructions sites everywhere and it was super loud. We told the owner and first he didn’t believe us. Then he sent a cleaning lady and we saw her did a very deep cleaning. It help but it still wasn’t perfect for a five stars. Also, it wasn’t a safe neighbor at all. The waves at the beach were too dangerous to go for a swim. The only nice thing was the public pool and the restaurant was delicious.

Christmas Break 2019

We stayed at Sarah's and Rob's house in Playa Hermosa from December 27, 2019 to January 4, 2020 with another family of four. When we arrived at the house, we were pleasantly surprised to find that the house was larger and even nicer than the pictures led us to believe. The house is in a great location in the Hermosa Palms private community. There is a security guard at the entrance 24/7 and a short walk gives you access to the community pool, swim up bar/restaurant and beach. Sarah and Rob were very responsive when contacted and addressed the limited issues we encountered in a timely manner. We highly recommend their house and look forward to a future stay!

Originally from Canada, I first came to Costa Rica on a vacation 30 years ago, instantly fell in love with my wife, the country, the people, and never looked back.

My wife Sarah and I, spend many weekends here, with our 7 kids, and friends.

My favorite part of Costa Rica is the Hermosa Palms, which I discovered when I rented one of the homes that I currently own. This occurred 10 years ago. Up to now, I have acquired another 5 more homes in the same neighborhood. That’s how much I love the place!
Naturally, I love to travel and see different places, study their culture and spend time with the people I encounter.
Besides traveling, I also enjoy hiking, running, and any type of fitness really. If you are into similar things and like to spend time in a natural setting, you will love everything Costa Rica has to offer. Some of the best national parks, hiking trails, and untouched beaches are just minutes away.

I’d love to share my best running/hiking areas with you.
