Perfect Getaway

The house was cozy and stocked with everything we neeeed for a restful weekend in the snowy mountains. Davis and Thomas are cute little towns to visit and we would absolutely come back!

Nice Long Weekend

Hot tub was a real plus since we did not have the snow we really wanted for crosscountry skiing. Size was perfect for our family. We were concerned about going with a duplex, but we heard nothing from the folks next door.

I've been pursuing outdoor activities in the Canaan Valley/Spruce Knob area since college in the 70s. Mountain Top Realty remains my favorite source for rental properties in the area. I can't name a specific feature, and I'm not a hot tub or jacuzzi user, but the size and price were perfect for my needs, and the North Point location was much more convenient than Old Timberline, where I've rented before. High speed internet is important to me, and worked fine. The Dish TV service in the living room and bedrooms was excellent. Just fine!

Renter beware this is a duplex NOT a single family home

I have never left a bad review before today. I rented “Quiet Snow” to get away from the noise of the city for a weekend. I wanted a quiet house in the woods but what I ended up next to was inconsiderate neighbors in an attached duplex with paper, thin walls that played thumping music well after dark. It was a total waste of money and time. I messaged the owner through VRBO the second day and never heard back. Other complaints I had to go to a rental office to check in before driving to the property which was annoying after driving all day. I had to drive our trash to a second location which was gross. Overall I’m just really disappointed that this was a duplex and not a whole house. The picture of the property from the front is taken in such a way that obscures the second door from view by using a bush/tree to hide it. It feels sneaky and wrong.

Hi Maria, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I I will admit that there was some sort of VRBO glitch, that I was not aware of, stating that the property was a single family home, instead of a duplex, in the filters. It is stated within the first sentence of the description that this is a duplex. The listing includes a photo where you can see both sides of the duplex. You messaged the night before your departure regarding the issues you had experienced, which did not allow for really any time to remedy. Our office, where you check-in, is located three miles from the house. The community dumpster, where everyone takes their trash, is less than 100 yards from the rental. As I stated in the message I sent you directly, I am insulted by your accusation of being "sneaky". I highly recommend, in the future, ensuring you read all information provided on a listing prior to booking, and checking with the host. If you were unsure about anything prior to booking I would have gladly answered any questions via an inquiry message sent prior to booking.
