North of the noise and saturated color of the Quarter is a New Orleans neighborhood that’s perfected the art of living. “Welcome to Mid-City,” read the signs on the neutral ground. And that’s truth in advertising. It’s the kind of place where your auto mechanic invites you to a crawfish boil and a total stranger may buy you a drink at an Irish pub or a cannoli at an Italian bakery. Take the red streetcar line up Canal to the Cemeteries (Mid-City’s dead neighbors are as interesting as the live ones) or bike the new 2.6-mile-long Lafitte Greenway that stretches from Basin Street to Carrollton Avenue and, conveniently, past a po’ boy shop or two – or 17 – with a sno-ball shop and a micro-brewery thrown in for good measure. Buttermilk biscuits. Live music. A bowl of Vietnamese pho. Who wouldn’t want to visit? Eat. Drink. Get up here.

Four bedrooms accommodate up to eight guests, each outfitted with plush beds, soft linens, room-darkening shades, and ample clothing storage including walk-in closets. Roku Smart TVs in every room mean everyone can settle in and stream their favorites when the day winds down.
 
Kitchen & dining
Cooking together is easy here. The kitchen comes fully equipped with a Frigidaire refrigerator, Frigidaire electric stove, Frigidaire single oven, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, baking sheet, wine glasses, cooking basics, and a full set of dishes and silverware. A dining table brings the group together, and coffee is provided to get your mornings started before you head out to explore.
 
Living & workspace
The living area offers a comfortable place to decompress after a full day out. Fast Wi-Fi and a dedicated workspace with a door give remote workers or planners a proper setup. Central air conditioning, central heating, and ceiling fans keep the home comfortable regardless of the season.
 
Outdoor living
Step out to the backyard, where outdoor furniture and a BBQ grill make casual evenings easy. The shared heated pool is available year-round, open 24 hours, and comes with pool toys - a welcome retreat for kids and adults alike. Free driveway parking and free street parking add everyday ease to your stay.

Traveling with young children? A pack 'n play/travel crib and a folding or convertible high chair are both available upon request, and babysitter recommendations can be arranged. In-unit washer and dryer, along with shampoo, conditioner, body soap, and shower gel, make longer stays genuinely comfortable.
 
Bathroom
Three bathrooms include a bathtub, hair dryer, hot water, and cleaning products - everything needed to refresh and recharge between adventures.

The Canal Streetcar is a five-minute walk away, putting the French Quarter, Frenchmen Street, and Bourbon Street within easy reach. City Park, the Lafitte Greenway bike path, Trader Joe's, local cafés, and nearby po'boy shops round out the neighborhood. During Mardi Gras season, this home sits steps from the Endymion parade route.

Great house!!

I've stayed next door several times but needed a few extra rooms this time for several members of my staff in town for Louisiana Teacher Leader Summit. Michael came through with this at the last minute. They all loved the place. Check-in process need a little work, but overall, a great rental.

Safety Concerns with Lock Box

The house was beautiful with comfortable beds and in a central location to many activities. Unfortunately, we had safety concerns that we didn’t feel the host took seriously. Our check in time was 4pm but the host made an exception to allow us entry at 3. We arrived after three and still hadn’t received the code, so we waited on the stoop with our luggage while a houseless man urinated across the street from us. By 4pm we still had not received our code, so we called the host at 4:10 and only reached his voicemail. We called customer service at 4:21 who said they would reach out for us, and we finally received the code at 4:32. Once we received the code, we realized the numbers on the lockbox were already set to the exact code that had been given to us. This was very disturbing as the last person at the house would have access if we chose to store a key in the box during our stay. We reached out to the host explaining our concerns and the response stated, “We have already provided the lockbox code to you yesterday if you want we can send it again.” And the same code was sent again. We did not feel heard as we wanted a new code to feel safe in the house. In addition, the house was not fully stocked for six people to stay for eight nights as there were not enough coffee mugs, glasses, cooking utensils, T.P. or trash bags. Also, there was only one roll of paper towels and one bath towel per person. We found ourselves paying for Ubers to replenish the basics we needed.
