Hotel Suite with Kitchenette, Great on Mountain Location, Indoor/Outdoor Pool

The Grand Lodge Hotel is located on Crested Butte Mountain in the heart of the base area. Walking distance to the slopes, shops, and main transit center. Amenities for the complex include an indoor/outdoor heated pool, hot tub, steam room, fitness center, and in-house restaurant. Crested Butte Lodging & Property Management, Inc. provides free parking and wifi.

This hotel suite features a kitchenette to make meals in with a small refrigerator, single burner stove, microwave, dishwasher, and your basic utensils for cooking and eating. The open-concept floor plan makes the suite feel large and spacious and provides a king bed, as well as a king murphy for additional sleeping arrangements.

First-floor rooms at the Grand Lodge are pet friendly for a fee of $30/per night per pet.

The FREE Mountain Express Shuttle runs year-round for transportation to and from the Town of Crested Butte and surrounding areas. Summer schedule runs every 20 minutes; winter schedule runs every 15 minutes; shoulder seasons every 40 minutes.

Crested Butte Lodging & Property Management provides the basic comforts of home. Upon your arrival, you’ll find that we supply all linens, towels, and paper goods. This includes paper towels, toilet paper, starter shower kits, coffee packets with powder creamer and sugar, kitchen towels, dish sponges, dish soap, and dish detergent. If you would like to arrange housekeeping services during your stay, please contact our office to schedule for a modest fee.

Quiet peaceful leaf season

The sugar packets, laundry detergent and bounce sheets for a load of laundry were a nice touch. Laundry is on fifth floor straight across from elevator.

Great location, clean, quiet, dog friendly

We had a very enjoyable stay. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. We were on ground level so easy to get our dog out for potty breaks (lots of grassy areas around the lodge). Being Summer, the room can get a little warm but alleviated with the ceiling fan and a window for fresh cool air so lack of air conditioning not really an issue. Our room was a great place to come back to after long hikes for relxation. The kitchenette had everything we needed (coffee maker, microwave, single stove top, fridge, dishes, utensils). Have absolutely no complaints!

Great location and amenities

We came to mountain bike. The lodge secures bikes in a locked room in the main floor with a tag to verify folks are taking the right bikes out. Staff did not delay getting bikes in and out. There is a bike stand and hose out behind the pool area which was handy due to frequent steam crossings. The pool is outdoors with an indoor section. The hot tub is delightfully HOT but oddly not jetted. The room was large with all the needed kitchenette items needed including cookware. The room was clean and in adequate repair. The carpet was stained. The bed was very comfortable and a fluffy quilt and soft sheets were great after long riding days.

Great pet-friendly choice

We've been staying at the Grand Lodge every summer for the past 10 yrs because it is a great pet-friendly option that is affordable and close to both town and hiking trails. The property in general needs some attention as the hot tub jets have not worked for several years and some of the rooms show some wear. This room was fine. The main issue we had was that there was no screen on the window and as a first floor room, this didn't feel especially safe! We contacted the property manager and the reply was quick but they used the Grand Lodge maintenance team who needed a second reminder from us and then sent someone to take measurements but never returned during our short stay. The bed was very comfortable and we do like the Emmons Suites that have the bed closer to the window for nice cool sleeping in the summer.

Not a seamless stay. Arrived to lobby with flood mitigation fans/ventilation ducts in place, multiple unsuccessful room keys and trips to front desk/ultimately had to be let in with master key and engineering had to fix next day. Tile in hallway not a good idea-noisy with rolling suitcases. Room was nice, but WAY overpriced. We got a king/murphy bed with 1 bathroom and small kitchenette for 2 days for just over $500. Went onto Winter Park and for less than $600, got a beautifully furnished 2 bedroom/2 bath condo with kitchen, washer/dryer, patio, and heated parking garage for 2 days. VRBO killing you (me) on fees. Won’t do that again

Rating Details: The property manager was very unhelpful. The vacation rental was very dirty. I was very unhappy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Place is run down, no air conditioning, No housekeeping, dirty towels and garbage in the hall, lamps didn’t work, pool full of beer cans, dogs locked in room next door. Phone in room didn’t work. Told front desk and they didn’t do anything. Would not stay here again. If it was the only choice I’d sleep in my van.

Reviewer Comments: Multiple issues-flood mitigation fans/ventilation going on in main lobby off-putting. Tile floors in hotel hallways were noisy with rolling suitcases. Room keys wouldn't work on checkin-had to have front desk use masterkey and maintenence had to address next day. Basically a hotel room with kitchenette and for $40/night more, we got a 2 bedroom condo with full kitchen, washer/dryer, patio, covered garage at Winter Park the next day-much better. Not clear when booking that we were booking someone's timeshare and that any issues were supposed to go through them, not Grand Lodge. Cleaning fees and VRBO fees were extreme. Won't stay here again despite nostalgia for Crested Butte

Horrific experience

At check in, at 3:30 we were told that only hotel guests could check in. We had to wait until after 4. When we were allowed to check in, we were told we were lucky we could get a key because they had just recd the note we were coming. THE ROOM HAD A FULL VIEW OF THE DUMPSTERS, with a side view of some parking lot. On Saturday the trash haulers picked up the trash at 11 PM. They banged and rumbled for 1/2 hr. On Sunday at 11:20 PM the delivery truck beeped and banged for a while. The hotel locked us out a day early because they thought we were leaving even though the rental was for 1 more day. The company had to.call the hotel, and they argued in front of us while we waited for a new key. No Mountain View, rude desk service, noisy deliveries and trash hauling late at night. All in all, awful. If I could give zero stars, I would.

Reviewer Comments: We didn't realize our STR was just a hotel room until we checked in, one of two sold as a condo unit in a full-on hotel of over 100 rooms. we checked in at the reception desk of the hotel, but the unit is managed by a totally different company, including housekeeping and maintenance. once we figured that out, the company replaced the mini-refrigerator since the existing one was frozen solid, gave us dish towels for the "kitchen", and kept in touch. in the height of Wildflower Week, and lovely mountain weather, we couldn't open the windows for fresh air due to the restaurant fans running all hours. We figured out how to turn on the fan and that made it bearable, with the curtains closed to keep west/late day sun from heating up the place. The STR company were generous and offered us a reduction in lodging rates, and we made do. We were grateful that our dog was allowed, the new frig worked fine, and the wedding we attended was beautiful. Never heard of this ownership combination before. Overall the place is fine as a skier flophouse, but very disappointing for us.

Dog barking a major negative

Reviewer Comments: Nice property, however the two dogs barking in the room next to ours were really annoying We stayed two days and the barking occurred several times. One evening the dogs barked on and off for hours. Apparently the human occupants of that room had gone out for the evening and had just left the dogs in the room and placed a “do not disturb “ sign on the door. We were thoroughly disturbed!

Room Summary

Room was ok for the price, little worn here and there, but not unexpected with age of property and price. The big downer is this first floor unit windows look at two transformers right out side, and dumpsters in the background with the other half of the building and parking lot (i.e. no view and curtains kept closed). Next stay will select another unit (for additional $) to have some type of view. Would also suggest anyone staying not select a unit near the side access door to parking lot or you will hear the door bang all night/early morning as people come ad go. Though this unit was in the middle of the building and that was not an issue.
