Getaway from the city and retreat to our picturesque cozy farm cottage

Immerse yourself in this gorgeous Southern Highlands cottage sitting on 30 acres just a few minutes away from major wineries and towns. Enjoy the peace and serenity, stroll around the lake and visit some of our super friendly farm animals. The cottage has 1 bedroom with ensuite, open plan dining area and lounge with a full sized kitchen and wood burning fireplace. Ideally suited to a couple, a small family of 2-4 people or a few friends or a couple with a Queen bed and queen pull-out sofa bed.

The cottage has a beautiful private courtyard with outdoor lounge furniture and a fire pit to enjoy on cool evenings.

Enjoy the experience of farm life! You'll have loads of opportunities to interact with our resident sheep and chickens. The sheep love to be fed and will follow you around like a puppy dog! When the chickens are laying eggs (*seasonal egg laying) feel free to gather some up for a yummy breakfast treat. Please be cautious around the farm animals, especially with children.

Nearby towns are Mittagong (8 min drive), Bowral (15 min drive) and Berrima (5 min drive) from our farm.

Other things to note
The estate has two additional properties (Main house and barn) that we also rent to guests. During your stay the other properties may also have rental guests. We asks all guests to respect each other's privacy and be respectful of the noise levels and while utilising the shared amenities (tennis court, BBQ/ping pong area, trampoline and lake).

*** Monitored security cameras are placed in the main areas around the property near the circle drive, the managers cottage, the entrance to the guest cottage and the back drive. No security cameras are place inside any of the buildings.

A very cute cottage on a stunning property. My partner and I loved walking around meeting the friendly sheep and chickens and watching the sunset by the lake. Will definitely be coming back!!

This could have been amazing…let down by simple things to fix:Pots and pans - they all had greasy residue, yuck - and all cutlery was dirty. We had to wash anything we needed to use.The only clean items were glassed and dinner plates.The oven!! There was a layer of fat and grease in the bottom of the oven and the smell was just revolting. Could not use the oven in good conscience. For the love of god, pay someone to clean this properly.Plastic shower curtain covered in mould. Shower with caution.Having a queen bed mattress just thrown on the floor in the lounge room – just why? The place felt so cluttered and awkward. There was no relaxing inside happening.The lounge has seen far better days. I sat on it and immediately sunk down so that the edge of what I presume was a sofa bed was digging into the back of my legs.The courtyard was not as advertised No blinds on bedroom window. Just thin curtains. I hope the people in the Lakehouse were not traumatized by our naked bodies at night, cause they’d have full view of the room when the lights are on.The cottage was musty and airless when we arrived. Had to open windows which didn’t stay up and the frames were covered in grime. Had to slide the top parts down, since the bottom part didn’t stay up. We spent more time wandering outside, which thankfully we love doing.Firewood…we found the stash in one of the sheds, cause the only wood at the cottage was submerged in about a foot of water in the courtyard bins.
The room cluttered with a mattress on the floor. Just no!
Nothing comfortable about this. Those awful wrought iron chairs are horrible to sit on

A beautiful escape from the hustle and bustle of Sydney. The kids loved interacting with all the animals - especially the sheep! Just a shame that there was no manager on site to chat to/show us around. The firewood box inside had not been refilled (and unfortunately no kindling left, we had to go buy some), one of the electric blankets was not working as well as the buckets marked for food for the chicken and sheep were empty. Despite this, it's an absolutely beautiful location - relaxing by the lake was blissful and the star gazing was the best we've ever seen. Just a couple of small tweaks needed for it to be absolutely perfect.

Disappointing to say the least. Dirty plates, dirty microwave, no heating in the main bedroom despite asking for another heater (even an oil heater would have sufficed for a room of that size). There was no highchair for baby as listed, mouldy shower curtain and you can forget 3 people having a warm shower in the peak of winter!! Trampoline was filled with leaves therefore unusable, grounds were generally not well maintained. Slow communication from owners however were flexible with check in time. Really unfortunate considering the price point and definitely not suitable for babies under 1 year old. I understand the rustic nature of a farm cottage but i also expected what was advertised.

Girls trip (mother daughter and doggy)

Relaxing cottage perfect for an extended weekend getaway. Cottage surrounds are easy to navigate. Fresh eggs from the chickens are a lovely breakfast treat! Very pet friendly accommodation (my dog has realised she wants to be on a farm). Hosts are a world of knowledge for great eats and adventures. Mittagong, Bowral and Berrima short drive away for food and shopping. Plenty of wineries in the area with friendly country vibes.

Farm stay

My husband and I and our little dog had a week staying in their little cottage. It was a lovely, peaceful setting! It was fun seeing the sheep and chooks and birds. I enjoyed visiting the chooks every day and collecting their eggs. The owners were friendly and helpful too! I recommend this place if you want a nice get-away from everything.

Weekend away

We had an amazing time! Cottage was perfect, super clean, with firewood ready to go when we arrived! Loved the farm and access to see some animals for our daughter! Incredible stay, will definitely be back!

Terrific, cosy and lovely

Terrific location for a little getaway. Checking in was a little difficult as there was a mix up regarding the instructions but once that was rectified it was a lovely little homestay. Was really excited for the fireplace but we had no idea how to open the vent so we just had to look at it longingly. Bed was super comfy, good WiFi & netflix/TV options. And a very adorable view of greenery and sheep!

Absolute perfection

We loved our stay at your cottage. The atmosphere was perfect for our child-free weekend away and was just the right location for our day trip adventures. It was lovely having the fire inside to come home to and relax with a book and the footy on the telly. Thank you so much!

Perfect farm stay cottage

Thank you Sam for a beautiful stay on the farm. Our toddler absolutely loved having all the animals around. The farm managers were wonderful to deal with and very helpful. The proximity of the farm to Bowral, Mittagong and Berrima was also convenient. Not to mention all the wineries near by. Thank you and we will definitely be back!

Lovely long weekend away with the pup!

Cute and cosy little cottage on beautiful farm land with chickens, sheep, roos and horses! We took our puppy and she loved meeting the animals and taking a morning walk around the lake was just wonderful. Plenty of space for dogs. No real fenced in area but the farm manager very kindly lent us a long lead so our puppy could run around without legging it off! Sam was lovely, great host, great weekend and we'll definitely be returning with our dog!

Dogs Paradise

It was a lovely weekend. The cottage was clean and tidy. It is a lovely area and the property has some great short walks in the paddocks and around the dam. Recommend it for anybody who likes birds and has a dog.

2 nights at Highlands Lake Farm Cottage

My partner, 12 year old Labrador and myself booked quite late as our plans had changed last minute and we found ourselves with two extra nights for our xmas holiday. So we had Xmas day night and Boxing day at the cottage. We had a lovely stay. We played a tennis on the retro but totally useable (for our level! lol) court and walks around the lake with our pooch. Tertini wines is close by and great to visit. The cottage itself was perfect. Clean, with everything you need for a get away. The fire would be amazing after visiting wineries all day in the Winter. We will be back to do just that.
