In a time when it was not considered wise for a free woman to marry a convict, Sophia must have seen something in Robert Logan as together they transformed the seaman's village of Battery Point into one of Hobart's most prestigious and sort after suburbs.
Ms Sophia's Studio is a small nod to Sophia's entrepreneurial spirit and is now a well-appointed central base for you to enjoy, as you immerse yourself in the areas historical past and enjoy the thriving city that Hobart is today.
Welcome to Ms Sophia's, a fully equipped apartment in the heart of the historic Battery Point village. Featuring off-street parking, fast unlimited WiFi and only a short walk to Salamanca Place, the MONA Ferry, Hobart CBD and the Sandy Bay shopping precinct. A convenient base in the most historic and picturesque suburb of Hobart.
Ms Sophia's is a small, open plan studio apartment with a queensize bed, kitchenette and separate bathroom and laundry. It also has an off-street car-park which is very rare in Battery Point.
Start your day with a coffee and breakfast only metres away at Jackman McRoss Bakery, or venture 5 minutes further down the road into tree-lined Salamanca Place to explore the restaurants, gift shops or the renowned Salamanca Market which takes place every Saturday.
You will have access to fast unlimited WiFi. Chromecast is available for streaming from your own device.
If you are in Hobart for one of the major festivals such as Taste of Tasmania, Mona Foma or Dark Mofo, Berwick Studio is the perfect place to base yourself.
Hampden Road restaurants and eateries are just moments away. Salamanca Place, parks and the joys of the busy waterfront with the MONA ferry are all a 5-10 minute stroll from the Studio.
For those of you travelling in larger groups, the Studio adjoins the original cottage and can accommodate 6 guests in three separate bedrooms. Both are available to be booked together and listed as the Berwick Cottage and Studio.
Guests will be sent their own private entry code to the studio 3 days prior to arrival.
We are available by phone from 8 am to 8 pm if you have any questions during your stay.
We would love it if you could message us when you have arrived safely and also a message on leaving is appreciated so we can clean as early as possible for our next guests.
Please please let me know as soon as you can if there are any issues at all so I have a chance to take the appropriate action to ensure your stay is it should be - totally stress-free and relaxing!!
As I am not in the area I am unable to personally check the house before your arrival - I am heavily reliant on my housekeeper and I need to know as soon as possible if you and therefore me have been let down in any way by the presentation or amenities of Sophia's Studio.
Ms Sophia's is a self-contained studio adjoining the rear of a historic Battery Point cottage known as 'Berwick Cottage'. The studio has a dedicated car space, separate and private access and is completely independent of the front property.
Dear guests, thank you very much for looking after this home and respecting the house rules.
Please answer the pre-booking message truthfully at the time of booking. This is to help us get to know you to ensure the space suits your needs. Any misrepresentation may result in immediate cancellation or eviction.
We have a strict no-party policy. Do not host parties or events that would disrupt the peace and comfort of my home, or neighbours.
Please treat my neighbours with respect by keeping noise to a minimum and within acceptable levels.
Kindly observe the 10 am check-out time so our cleaners have enough time to thoroughly and safely prepare the space for the next guest in line with Airbnb’s enhanced cleaning standards.
Please leave the home neat & tidy. We may need to charge guests for additional housekeeping time if our team is required to stay longer.
If smoking occurs on the property, we will have to charge guests to have the furnishings and carpet deodorised.
Please try not to misplace keys or fobs; any replacement fees will need to be passed onto our guests.
