This warm and welcoming cottage Under the Elms, located in a residential neighborhood in Hastings was a delightful respite from the abundant ho hum hotels and holiday park cabin accommodations we experienced since leaving Auckland. This rare gem is appointed with fully stocked kitchen, heated bath floors and towel bars, cozy living room and patio sitting areas. The two bedrooms are fitted with excellent quality beds and linens, making sleeping in a treat. The windows and lighting in the cottage are intentional and make for a welcoming feel from the moment you step through the door. The main bedroom has a king and the second bedroom is a full/queen, plan accordingly if you have larger 6’3 & 6’5” boys. The location and grounds were perfect, with lemon and lime trees outside the bathroom windows and beautiful roses outside the bedroom windows. This property is what all VRBOs aspire to be. Wonderful! We will return and hopefully for longer next time.

Fabulous place to stay. House had everything you needed and it was so clean and welcoming. It was fully fenced so very safe for the kids to play on scooters. Location was great as it was a short drive to the shops and really close to Havelock North. Great bonus having 2 air conditioning units as it really cooled down the bedrooms on hot nights. Would love to stay again!

A REAL TREAT

We couldn't recommend UNDER THE ELMS enough. The day we arrived was Hawkes Bays coldest day of the Winter so far. The heat pumps were on - the house was warm and welcoming. The gorgeous bathroom tiles were warm! Wine in the fridge, coffee in the pantry, beautiful decor....a real TREAT.

This is such a good spot. Clean recently done up.warm. good modern kitchen. Super new beds. Gas fire 2 heat pumps and a gas fire.handy to havelock or hastings. Quiet neighborhood. Would highly recommend.

We were pleasantly surprised at not only how nicely this older home had been renovated, but also how much attention to detail the host had taken. They even had tissues, something we find most hosts neglect. Well recommended.

We had the best stay here! The house is beautiful and cozy—I honestly wish my house looked like this (especially the bathroom). It was easy to find and all instructions were clearly laid out (with photos). I’d give this one 10 stars if I could. I hope to make it back some day!

Festive Getaway

The properry was as seen in the pictures. We were impressed with the cleanliness, as well as the little details, such as the underfloor heating and heated towel rails in the bathroom. It was spacious enough for our family of four. It is close to most attractions in and around Hastings.

Fantastic stay for our long weekend! Coming home after a long days of Squash and a few beers to a nice cosy place! Walking into a pre warmed house on a cold winters night on our first day was the best first impression! We loved the small thoughtful complimentry gifts and it was warm and cozy!
