Matilda Cottage is a cute two-bedroom self-contained cottage that oozes country charm, located at the southern gateway to the Macedon Ranges, in the hills of Gisborne South. Free Wi-Fi, Smart TV, Netflix, BBQ, & pet friendly.

The property is on acreage in a stunning elevated position, taking in beautiful sunsets followed by sparkling city views through the valley and trees to Melbourne. Dawn and dusk are often shared with bird life and kangaroos grazing nearby. Breathe in the crisp country air.

The Cottage is beautifully furnished and has full kitchen and laundry facilities, making it ideal for longer stays. Your home-away-from-home is 2 bedrooms comfortably sleeping 4 guests: Bedroom 1 with a queen bed, and Bedroom 2 with two single beds, plus a modern bathroom. The open plan living area includes kitchen, dining table, and lounge area, opening up on to the large verandah with BBQ and outdoor seating to enjoy the views. Free Wi-Fi is available, plus Smart TV with Netflix and other apps available.

Perfect for a relaxing weekend getaway, catch up with relatives, family gathering, attending an event nearby, or just wanting to see and experience this beautiful rural landscape. Explore the nearby townships including Gisborne, Woodend, Macedon, Romsey, Kyneton and Lancefield. In addition, Daylesford, Hepburn Springs and Castlemaine can be reached just under an hour`s drive through the picturesque countryside. The Macedon Ranges has so much to offer, throughout the entire year.

For “Blockheads”, Channel 9 television’s “The Block” in 2022 was filmed only 3km down the road. Golfers, it is 10 minutes to the renowned Gisborne Golf Course. For horse people it is 2km from the Gisborne Pony Club (I.R Robinson Reserve). If you are presenting your pup at Dog-shows at the Bulla Dog Exhibition Centre it is only 20 minutes drive.
It’s close to many wedding and function venues. And for concert goers, Matilda is only 25 minutes to concerts at Hanging Rock.

Whether you are visiting family and friends in the region or just using it as a base to discover all that the Macedon Ranges has to offer, Matilda Cottage is ideally located to nearby wineries, gourmet food, weekend farmer`s markets, renowned gardens, as well as the iconic Hanging Rock and Mount Macedon.

Location
Matilda Cottage is perfectly positioned, just 4km from the Calder Freeway (Gisborne South exit ramp). Enjoy the privacy, tranquillity and lovely surroundings this cottage has to offer. You will feel a world away from the city, though just 40 minutes drive from Melbourne CBD and 30 minutes from Melbourne International Airport (Tullamarine).

Privacy
The large property is shared with the owners house which is further down the main driveway. However, Matilda Cottage has it’s own private yard and driveway. To respect the owners privacy and maintain your privacy, please keep to guests designated areas. Off-street parking in the cottage driveway for 2 - 3 cars.

Free Wi-Fi. Webber BBQ provided. All linen is supplied (bed linen and towels).

Accessibility
For Wheelchair access, there is a small ramp leading on to the deck. Everything in the house is on one single level, with an average wheelchair able to fit through the standard size doorways.

Everything in the Macedon Ranges can be reached by car within 5 to 30 minutes drive. Enjoy walking and bike trails, unique scenery including Hanging Rock, wineries and several gin distilleries, a microbrewery, restaurants and wine bars, art galleries, and artisan workshops.

Pet Friendly
Matilda Cottage is pet friendly so you can bring your fur baby! It has a private fenced garden suitable for pets. Plus there is an animal enclosure, so you can leave your beloved pet at Matilda Cottage while you head in to Gisborne for a coffee or dinner, knowing it is safe and comfortable. Let us know in advance what you are travelling with, for prior approval. House trained and well behaved pets allowed ($25 per pet, max 2 pets). No heavy shedding breeds.

Check-in from 3pm, check-out by 10am.

Rate
Rate is for 2 guests, extra adults or children are $25pp per night (up to 4 guests total).

Restrictions
No parties, schoolies groups, 18th, 21st, hens, bucks, or other all-male groups.
Fire pits are subject to CFA enforced restrictions, and are not allowed in fire danger period and total fire ban days.

50% initial payment due upon booking and 50% balance payment charged 14 days prior to arrival.

*Tax applied to the booking is the Victorian state government’s new Short Stay Levy, charged on Holiday Rental properties.
Leave the property clean on departure, close to the way you found it as is standard with most holiday rentals (dishes, benches, rubbish etc).
Please respect neighbours - no parties, no music outside, no additional sound equipment (DJ, PA etc), no noise after 10pm.
Complaint calls from neighbours incurs fees and may result in eviction. After hours call outs due to avoidable incidents caused by guests incur fees.
Pets by prior request only (fee applies). Owners responsible for any damage or clean-up, see Pet Policy in House Rules.
