Welcome to Heron House B&B!

The B&B is a charming island-designed home, with 3 bedrooms, an extra loft sleeping space, a cozy TV area, and a downstairs rec room with a ping pong table and fitness centre! Enjoy the selection of board games, puzzles and books with friends and family.

There are public walking trails close by, the golf course is a 2 minute drive, Salt Spring Wild Cider is a 10 minute walk, and town (Ganges) is only a 5 minute drive.

Enjoy a city escape to this beautiful peaceful home away from home!

***Please note: Breakfasts are by request only, at time of booking.

Guests will enjoy full access to the home, large deck and private dock with a fire pit. We provide a propane insert for the months when there's a fire ban.

We provide 2 kayaks and life jackets to enjoy the water!

We're happy to welcome guests! We operate as a private home-based B&B in accordance with the local zoning and bylaws of Salt Spring Island. We're here to offer assistance with anything you may need but also respect our guests' desire for privacy.

***Please note:
The property/B&B owner lives year-round in the home but stays in an RV on the other end of the 3.75 acre property when the home is booked to ensure guests can enjoy complete privacy and also be close by to provide optional breakfasts and assistance.

A wonderful get away

Our place was amazing! It was spacious and had all our needs. The view of the ocean and beautiful quiet area was the icing on top. Thank you! We really enjoyed our stay!

Three nights of relaxation

4 senior woman (friends since elementary school) gathered at this rental for 3 nights. We enjoyed our breakfast each morning looking over the canal as we planned our days, walked all day, enjoyed a lunch out and gathered back for dinner and frivolity on that beautiful deck. A most enjoyable accommodation.

Our family had a lovely time overlooking this scenic inlet. The location was very close to town, but also very quiet. Nice boating opportunities.

Incredible Get Away!!

This is a gorgeous oasis. The view is amazing, the rooms are spread out and offer great privacy, the property is beautiful and private, and the amenities were abundant. The hosts were also so responsive and helpful. We will definitely want to come back to stay!

Stitching Retreat

Four friends, bags of yarn and fabric and nibbles and wine, a perfect view from a well lit room, and just a few minutes (by car) from Ganges: this was a lovely spot to hang out for a few days with my girlfriends.

Great get away!

We had a lovely long weekend at this house. Very clean, with plenty of space and activities available to us. The host was very friendly. The house was even better than the pictures, highly recommended.

Relaxing vacation

Thank you so much! We had such a pleasant and relaxing stay. The pictures don’t do it justice it’s even more beautiful in person! The water was warm and we had a great time on the paddle board at high tide. We used the deck lots and cooked all of our meals in the beautiful kitchen! Would highly recommend staying here!

Beautiful home good for active people who love nature

This is a wonderful home that could easily sleep 8 (or even more). Surrounded by trees, and we loved sitting out on the deck and looking out at the canal, where we saw baby ducklings and herons. Our only reservation is that people need to be fairly active, as there are challenging stairs to get to some beds and the tv room. Would definitely recommend this place!

Bachelorette staycation

This house feels like a high end tree house, with all the ammeneties of a high end updated home. Youre surrounded hy nature on the most peaceful stretch of water, but close to the vesuvius ferry for convenience and to the lovely salt spring cidery. We watched eagles fish and goslings learn to swim from the large deck each morning. It was perfect.

Great weekend getaway house in Saltspring

Great location! Close to Ganges. Easy check-in and the host was very responsive. House is right on the water. Very peaceful, no mosquitoes. We were 6 people. Size-wise, the house is perfect; one more bathroom would have made it even better but we managed. The bath in the master bedroom doesn't substitute well as a 2nd shower but we managed.

This stay was our second time at Heron House and we thoroughly enjoyed it, again, as our annual family getaway! James and Tania are amazing hosts - responsive, generous, timely, accommodating. They have made many upgrades to the home since last year. We noticed a new fridge, oak table and chairs in the dining room (awesome for doing puzzles!), futon sofa and chair downstairs and of course, amazing new outdoor furniture. There were new games and puzzles, too!As others mention, the deck and view are second to none, as is the location - short drive to Ganges, amenities and hiking trails but set deep in nature with a short trail right beside the property. We look forward to our next visit to Heron House already! Thanks for hosting us, Tania and James.

Beautiful Oceanfront Property

This house was perfect for our large family of 7. Everyone had their own bed and a view of the ocean. Such a spacious retreat with water activities included. We had a great time paddle boating and kayaking. The hosts provided everything including coffee and even laundry pods if you needed to do laundry. I would highly recommend this house for a family retreat! Thanks so much and we will be looking to come back!

A Lovely Stay

We have enjoyed our stay here so much! The space and view were great for us to have a little fun and relax at the same time. It's a very peaceful area, so it was lovely to have a quiet breakfast in the patio. We've also done a nice mini trip on the kayaks, SUP and the Paddle boat around the inlet. There were also some deers around the area which was very nice to see as well. The location of this place is quite central to the Grocery shop and some of the attractions on the island. Tania, the host was really helpful and quick to respond all my questions. Overall, we loved our experience here. Thanks for making our first time visit to Salt Spring Island extra amazing!

Quiet Salt Spring Island

Our group included 3 couples and Tania's place was perfect for that size. The bedrooms are all wonderful and we cooked in the well stocked kitchen, enjoyed the deck and game room, and felt very private in the quiet setting. Tania was extremely responsive throughout. On the day of our arrival we got a message from her that the refrigerator wasn't working, but she had arranged for a secondary refrigerator so that we were not inconvenienced at all. That was indicative of the how well the property is managed. We would definitely return.

Beautiful house and property

We had an amazing stay at Heron House. The house is big and clean with a huge deck overlooking the water. The kids spent countless hours on the kayaks, peddle boat, and SUP. The house is located on a small inlet and is calmer and warmer than out on the open ocean. The house is located just a 5 min drive to town where there is a cute downtown area with groceries, shops, and restaurants. We explored many beaches (ocean and lakes) around the island that all took under 20 min to drive to. The host was attentive and responded to our questions quickly. Would definitely recommend this house!

Family Getaway

Our extended family stayed here for 3 nights - there was something for everyone in our age range (22-87). The beds were comfortable and the view was great. We spent a lot of time out on the deck, we’re visited by a doe and two fawns, lots of birds, and quite a few hornets (but they didn’t seem to be interested in us). We didn’t get a chance to use the watercraft provided since our schedule didn’t line up with the tides, but it was very generous of our hosts to provide them. We very much enjoyed using the propane fire pit in the evening down by the water. The kitchen was well equipped and the coffee drinkers appreciated the quality of coffee beans provided - the only thing we thought we could have used were a couple more serving or prep bowls. Overall a very pleasurable stay, thank you!

Wonderful view & great spot

Two family of four with teenagers stayed comfortably in this beautiful spacious house. It is located in a very convenient location, and it has plenty of space for 8 of us to spread around. Two bedrooms in the main floor, loft style space with beds above the dining room, and basement with a bedroom and ping pong table/workout/yoga space. They have two nicely renovated full bathrooms, so two families were able to have their own. Overall house is open and spacious, but the doors and sliding doors gave us privacy. It has own dock with two kayaks and pedal boat, and W e were able to enjoy some water activities. The instruction to the house was very clear, the owner responded to my message promptly. The only minor improvement we can think of is that it would’ve been nice to have more kitchenwares. It was equipped with the basics, but we needed bigger plates/bowls to serve 8 people. It was a short stay, and we managed, but it would’ve been nicer. If I have a chance to go back, I will definitely stay here again!
