General Description:
Ellis Cottage is a beautiful renovated character home built in circa 1890. Features of the cottage include polished floor boards and high ceilings. There is also a beautifully crafted modern extension at the rear with bifold doors opening onto a large rear deck with city scape and mountain vistas.

Location:
It's location makes it the perfect holiday or business short stay property. Glebe is one of the oldest weatherboard suburbs in Australia and for this reason the period cottages are a architectural wonder. The cottage sleeps up to 8 guests and is within close walking distance to the Hobart CBD, Salamanca (Market), Hobart waterfront (where you can catch the ferry to MONA), North Hobart restaurant and café strip, Hobart Aquatic Centre, Royal Botanical Garedens, Supermarkets, and much more.

The Space:
The perfect choice for your stay in Hobart. Ideal for families and small groups up to 8 people.
Its cosy in winter with fully ducted heating plus double glazing and the fully opening glass sliding doors means this lovely home is a perfect indoor/outdoor space in summer.

The home is fully equipped with the highest quality fittings such as ducted heating and cooling plus 5 panel heaters, high speed wifi, Internet enabled Smart TV, Netflix, hotel quality beds, boutique toiletries, fully equipped kitchen with quality appliances.

Cleanliness:
I ensure the house is thoroughly cleaned before your stay and provide professionally laundered hotel quality linen and towels. I take pride on achiving outstanding reviews on the cottages cleanliness.

Ellis Cottage, Glebe is a Heritage listed Victorian cottage built in 1890 with many period features.
The cottage has beautiful indoor/outdoor living area leading to lovely private courtyard with panoramic mountain views.

We provide all linen, towels and toiletries (body wash, shampoo, conditioner, hairdriers, etc).

If you're staying for longer than 7 days all linen will be replaced and the cottage cleaned to ensure to keep things fresh and clean for your stay.

We had a wonderful stay at Ellis Cottage. A beautiful location only a walk to the city centre or waterfront. We found the best way to tackle the hills and feel a lot fitter for the experience.The cottage has everything you could possibly need for a stay and is very very comfortable. Communication with the host was excellent.

I was very impressed with the respectful manner Libby treated the property and adhered to the house rules. Equally, how clean and orderly she left the cottage on her departure. Given the above, I would highly recommend Libby and her group to any future hosts.

Perfect space for a family holiday with 18

This property was chosen in order to spend a week with family to celebrate a significant birthday. There was plenty of space to relax and a great decked area at the rear that had views of the city and Mt Wellington. Kitchen was well provisioned allowing the private caterer that we arranged to prepare a serve a 4 course lunch without difficulty. Within easy walking distance of Salamanca Place but be aware it is a steep walk back.

I’m happiest when I’m in the water. I have been a Master swimmer for many years and hold a number of State records. I surf most days and scuba dive on a regular basis.
While I am now retired I remain passionate about education and help out the local school where I now live. I have held a number of teaching positions overseas and for the last 15 years of my career held the role of Headmaster/Principal. My last position was running a community school on the Falkland Islands.
I started my working life completing a building apprenticeship. The skills learnt during this period have been invaluable in renovating houses. The house at Glebe was purchased approximately 20 years ago in a semi derelict state. The renovation of the house has been completed by me in a number of stages as time permitted. At the time of purchase Glebe was a forgotten or unknown suburb of Hobart but over the years due to it close walking proximity to Hobart it has become highly desirable.
Prior to leaving for the Falkland Islands I decided to airbnb the Ellis Cottage, Glebe. This has now turned into my retirement job and I love nothing more than proving a beautiful home for guests to relax and enjoy.

I was born in Hobart, Tasmania and despite spending many years overseas love this beautiful State of Australia. While studying Design at University I developed a love for period architecture and a passion for renovating. The suburb of Glebe, sitting on the edge of the Hobart CBD, and importantly located within walking distance to the Hobart Aquatic Centre was the perfect location to purchase a period cottage. Walking access to so many amenities and services makes Glebe a wonderfully convenient place to stay. I am confident you will agree.
