Histórico Westhaven Lodge en Lake Vermilion - Desde 1935

En existencia desde 1935, Westhaven Lodge tiene un entorno privado con una ubicación privilegiada en el lado sur de Big Bay of Lake Vermilion. We rented this lodge for a club ATV trip and we arrived to not having hot water. We were first accused of taking too many showers (50 gallon tank for 3 bathrooms) for a lodge that sleeps 18. We had not taken even one shower we were trying to do dishes. Maintenance worker came over trying to throw parts at the water heater to fix it - didn't work - there was an issue prior to our arrival as there was water all over the floor in basement. A couple of our group tried to help fix (one is a licensed electrician) and then offered to install a new one if owner would buy one - he refused and said it would be cheaper to wait to see if the circuit board was bad but that meant we had no hot water for the 3 nights and 4 days we were there. He offered to fire up the sauna so we could go sweat and then take cold showers? We were riding all day on dirt trails and wanted to take a shower and do dishes when we returned. One of our members had a trailer with a micro shower in it that he unwinterized and let members use if they wanted to - which should not have been an option. Owner said he tried to find a hotel or something we could go to to use showers but none were available. Then when we requested a refund of 1/3 of our rental fee we paid - he refused that request and we received substantially less as he didn't feel we deserved 1/3. I believe he was just trying to cheap out on the last rental of the year and didn't really care he made his money.

Five siblings and our spouses spent our annual three day gathering at Westhaven. It's always a time to remember and give thanks for our beloved parents, something we've been doing for 23 years.Over and over again I was thanked for finding such a wonderful property. It took us back to our childhoods when we stayed at resorts with a similar feel. And how we loved the dining room table that comfortably seated us all.The weather was gorgeous, the surroundings beautiful, an exceptionally clean lodge...everything was perfect!A couple of suggestions that could apply to all VRBO properties: we are all seniors, a couple with disabilities; a small grab bar in the tub surrounds would help make bathing safer. Finally, it would be helpful if more detailed descriptions of each bathroom were to state exactly if they had a tub/shower combo vs just a shower (which is so much better for us).Roger and caretaker Bonnie were great to work with and always available to answer questions.We hope to return again next year. We had a wonderful stay at Westhaven Lodge! The lake and home were beautiful and worked well for our group of 11. The home was clean, and the caretakers were very kind. Bonnie stopped over with fresh vegetables from her garden during our stay. We would definitely love to stay again some day!

Amazing Stay!!

We just returned from a week long stay at Rodger’s amazing cabins, we rented both the large lodge and the small cabin next door. We had a total of 20 people and we all fit very nicely in both cabins. Really great beach that the kids all loved, we hope to come back as our family all really enjoyed our stay!

Love the Lodge

My Family loves this place. The table is big enough for all my local in-laws to come and eat with us. We have an extremely large family and everyone can come and eat here. It has plenty of space for the kids to play outside and/or in. Very cute decor, clean and comfy. This is our 2nd time here and we would definitely stay again.

50th birthday celebration!

This cabin accommodated our group of 10 adults very nicely! The sauna was lovely, the outdoor sitting area by the lake was heavenly, the canoes and kayaks were a fun addition, and the kitchen, living room and dining room gave us ample space to cook and gather. Bonnie (the caretaker) was responsive to my on-site needs. One small downside was that the bunk beds were a little short for a taller adult to sleep in. We were very pleased with this property!

Such a great spot!

We had such a great time at the Westhaven Lodge. The property was nicely laid out so all the bedrooms were on one side and people could sleep while others enjoyed the rest of the space which was great for a very multi-age group. The outdoor green space, dock, and water access were awesome and we'll forever be thinking about the very large dining room table that could host us all at once! The kitchen is really well stocked (with more than is mentioned in the listing). Bring dish washer soap! The stove takes kind of a while to boil water so plan to start cooking your meals early!

Family week at the lodge

We enjoyed our week at Windhaven lodge. Our grandkids loved the big yard and the lodge house had plenty of space for both the adults and 7 children. We all enjoyed the games and puzzles found in the lodge. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and cooking pots and pans. Since our week was hot/warm, we were happy to find crockpots and a gas grill. The lake was good for swimming if we jumped into the deeper water. The shore is rocky and the rocks are slippery, so need water shoes to protect feet if wading into the lake from the shore. Our grandkids enjoyed their first “Minnesota” sauna experience - jumping in the lake after the sauna. We used the kayaks but not the canoe or fishing boat with oars. We did rent a pontoon one day. If we return, will consider renting a boat for the week.The rental was very clean (thanks Bonnie) and Kevin quickly responded to problems.

Amazing week

The lodge was a great place for our family. There was room inside and out for the kids to play. The bedrooms were on one end so the little ones could nap. Everyone enjoyed the firepit, the beach and the area in general. We will definitely book it again.

Great for multi family stays

Book it while you can!

We've stayed at many different cabins around Lake Vermilion, this is the first cabin that we attempted to book AGAIN only two days into our trip. It's perfect for large families: Has lots of yard space for activities, it's plenty spacious inside and fishing off the dock was great!

Beautiful Lake Vermilion location. Our group of friends enjoyed the clean, spacious lodge and fishing on the lake. We had everything we needed and would not hesitate to return!
