Where Barbie Lives by Glass Et Cetera
Welcome to the Glass Et Cetera experience, we are Australia's beloved vintage & antique glassware store. This is our shoot headquarter as well as a unique place to stay for those seeking TLC or visiting Sydney. Centrally located in Chippendale, one of Sydney's coolest neighborhood and 10 minutes walk from Central Station. The house is a heritage listed item built in 1872, it is fitted out with one of a kind furniture, glassware, decor & artworks. Looking for a unique experience? STAY HERE
The space
Featuring a large living room, dining room, kitchen and bathroom on the ground floor and 3 bedrooms on the second floor. Upstairs verandah looks out to leafy streets of Chippendale and downstairs verandah leads to the beautiful outdoor courtyard.
All furniture and home decor are either retro/vintage/antique or Australian brand, designed and made.
We rotate and feature decor from our shop so each stay is unique to each individual booking. If you like something in the house and want to buy it, check us out on insta @glassetcetera or browse our online shop, or just come into the shop to say hello.
Our house is old and filled with glassware, please be gentle with her, special care is required when you stay here.
It is a collector's experience so definitely a space for vintage lovers.
Guest access
Entire place, please note there is no access to garage (it is under construction at the moment, will become our art gallery and performance space).
Other things to note
The house is retro fitted with extremely rare furniture and home decoration, we account for every item before and after each check in, please take great care during your stay not to break and damage anything so that other guests can also enjoy and share the experience.
Full payment for breakage plus a $75 restocking fee will be charged to your credit card on hold.
Please note that we are very strict on our no party rule, absolutely no parties, photoshoots, filming, events, hens, schoolies of any kind will be tolerated. Your booking will be automatically cancelled and we will ask you to vacate the premises if there are parties or events happening, or major noise complaints received from adjoining neighbors.
We will not make up the sofa bed for you unless you have more than 6 guests and have paid for additional guest/s to stay and require the sofa bed. Please inform in advance that you'll need the sofa bed and we'll put out linen and duvet for sofa bed. Extra towels for additional guest/s will also be provided. If you don't do this and use the spare linen and towels reserved for our next guests, you will have to pay the $80 linen fee in additional to all booking fees.
We reserve the right to request extra cleaning fees post check out if you move furniture around and leave the place in a messy state or in disarray, especially if sheets and towels are stained to the point where they have to be disposed.
There are also security cameras fitted outside entrance door, courtyard door and external windows for security purposes.
Early check in request
If you require early check in please put in request via AirBnB. We always try to accommodate early check in but it all depends on whether we have guests the night before your arrival or not.
If early check in is possible, you’ll receive a message from us before your arrival. If there are guests checking out before you, you can always leave your baggage (at your own risk) in the house with the cleaner from 11am onwards and come back to the property at 3pm to check in. Please do not leave any important or valuable belongings in the house during this time, we are not liable for any loss and or damages. We hope you understand and enjoy your stay.
Parking
Unfortunately we don’t have parking at the property, one of the downside of being in the city. But if you need parking for your stay, please check out your options below:
Option 1: Street parking on Myrtle St and Shepherd St, free one hour parking between 8am and 8pm. Unlimited street parking between 8pm and 8am.
Option 2: All day parking at Wilson Parking all over the city. The nearest one to the house is on Shepherd St near the University of Sydney campus. You can visit Wilson Parking website for more information.

Por qué escogió este alojamiento
Chippendale is right in the middle of some of the coolest suburbs in Sydney. If you stay here you’re within waking distance to the city, Surry Hills, Chinatown, Glebe, Redfern, Pyrmont and Darling Harbour. Located near Central Station but in a quiet residential pocket right next to the University of Sydney, UTS and Notre Dame University where pubs and restaurants are plenty.

The house is a heritage listed item built in the late 1800s, originally a pub then a car mechanic shop front with the current garage used as the mechanic shop. She’s old, she’s heritage listed and she’s wonderfully pink and quirky.
