Summary:
Set above Sandy Bay and Enclosure Bay, Island Escape is a relaxed coastal home with wide sea views, generous outdoor living, and easy access to some of Waiheke’s safest swimming beaches. With a separate cabin for extra space, it’s well suited to families or groups wanting room to spread out while staying close to the water.
The Space:
Island Escape is arranged for easy indoor–outdoor living and makes the most of its elevated position above the surrounding bays. The main house centres around an open-plan living, dining, and kitchen area, where timber detailing and natural light create a calm, comfortable atmosphere. Large bifold doors open directly to a wide, north-facing deck that captures all-day sun and uninterrupted views across the water.
The kitchen is modern and practical, set up for shared meals, relaxed breakfasts, and unhurried evenings at home. The living and dining areas flow together easily, making the space work well for groups spending time together.
Three bedrooms and two bathrooms sit within the main house. The master bedroom includes a king bed, ensuite, and direct access to a private deck with sea views. The second bedroom features a queen bed, while the third bedroom offers a super king that can be split into two singles on request, providing flexibility for families or friends travelling together.
A detached cabin sits separately from the main house and adds extra accommodation for larger groups. The cabin includes a queen bed and bunk beds, along with its own deck, offering privacy for couples, teenagers, or guests wanting a little separation while remaining part of the same stay.
Together, the house and cabin provide a comfortable, well-balanced layout for up to ten guests.

The Neighborhood:
Island Escape is located in a quiet coastal pocket close to Sandy Bay and Enclosure Bay, both within a short walk. These bays are known for calm swimming, snorkelling, and sheltered conditions. A bush track also connects easily to Hekerua Bay.
Oneroa Village is a short drive away and offers supermarkets, cafés, boutiques, galleries, and a wide range of dining options, including Fenice and The Oyster Inn.
Several of Waiheke’s well-known vineyards, including Mudbrick, Cable Bay, Tantalus Estate, and Stonyridge, are within easy reach for tastings and long lunches.
Getting Around:
The property is around ten minutes by car from Oneroa Village and the Matiatia passenger ferry terminal. Public bus services operate nearby and connect to beaches, vineyards, and the ferry, making it possible to explore the island without driving.
Buses run from Onetangi and stop near major vineyards, then continue into Oneroa and on to the ferry terminal. Taxis and rideshare services are available but can be limited during peak periods.
E-bikes and scooters can be hired in Oneroa for guests wanting a slower, scenic way to explore the island.
Other Things to Note:
Like most Waiheke homes, Island Escape runs on rainwater, so we ask guests to use it thoughtfully during their stay.
There is a detached cabin set apart from the main house, offering privacy and flexibility for families or friends staying together.
Minimum stay requirements apply, seven nights from mid-December to mid-January, three nights for the rest of January and all holiday weekends, and two nights at all other times.
Interaction with Guests:
The home is set up for a private and independent stay.
For life-threatening emergencies, including medical events or fire, guests must call 111 immediately.
For urgent, non-life-threatening property issues outside business hours, an after-hours contact number is provided in the arrival information.
