An Cealla was one of the best VRBOs we have ever stayed in. The accommodations were clean, well appointed and beautiful. The location overlooking Loch Pooltiel was breathtaking. My wife loved having the sheep and cows near our front door and one of our favorite pastimes was watching the local farmer and his dogs herd the stock into another field every evening. I would highly recommend this VRBO and we hope to stay here again.

Lovely property on the north of the island. The view over the bay is spectacular with outdoor furniture available to sit out and enjoy. The kitchen is well equipped, the rooms are comfortable, the infra red sauna is a unique addition! Value for money compared to anything else we found on skye was superb. A short drive from the three chimneys restaurant and great access to walking in the area. We left an item of jewelry in the property and it was posted back to us, Ann went out of her way which was greatly appreciated again. Thank you!

Everything was absolutely fabulous. The house was exactly as expected and perfect for two couples. The location was superb, the view spectacular and the local cafe was an added bonus. The basket of treats was a lovely surprise. The whole process from booking to check out was very easy. Would highly recommend if you are planning a trip to the Isle of Skye.

Lovely stay

Great stay for our two week long roadtrip with our grandparents. It was lovely to spend five days in a cabin as opposed to a hotel, and it was even better than we expected!

After nearly 40 years of staying in holiday cottages this is the best we have stayed in. A spotlessly clean, high spec cottage that had everything we needed. Great locations and views too.

A stunning croft-house in a magnificent location - the views were fabulous! Inside was tastefully decorated with absolutely everything you could possibly need. The house has obviously been renovated with a lot of love and attention to detail and quality.

We had a great stay at An Cellar! Everything was nicely prepared and very welcoming. The view from the house over the sheep’s, the cliffs and the oceans is fantastic. We will come back :)

Lovely stay on Skye

We enjoyed quiet nights in the study by the fire and local sightseeing. The bed was comfy and the host was wonderful. I also enjoyed the soaking tub with a view. Immaculately clean and just as described.

Perfect in every way!

The accommodation was perfect in every way! From the views out of the windows to the many special touches in and around the cottage. Every need had been catered for and this can be a rare thing to find in a holiday home! We had a thoroughly wonderful time at An Cealla and will definitely be back!

Beautiful house, amazing views - perfect!

My sister and I absolutely enjoyed our stay at A-Cealla. It is the perfect location to explore Skye from, and the perfect place to come home to after hiking and exploring. Ann and Donald made everything pertaining to renting and living in the house easy. I would recommend it without hesitation to friends and family.

Magical Week at An Cealla, Glendale, Skye, Scotland, UK

An Cealla is an idyllic location for a relaxing get-away and served us perfectly as an ideal base from which to travel on day trips to all the wondrous natural locations & Historic sites on Skye. Hosts & family could not have been more friendly, welcoming & responsive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend An Cealla for those looking for a beautifully appointed, comfortable location from which to launch their Skye.adventures!

Spectacular

Beautiful, quiet picturesque location. The cottage was immaculately restored. The attention to detail was remarkable. The host was approachable and responsive. We have stayed at many vacation rentals in both Europe and North America and this by far was one of the best!

Amazing views

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely home. Waking up to the spectacular views every morning was fantastic. Enjoying our dinner outside in the evenings and watching the sunset was an end to perfect days. There was a fair bit of traveling to and from the house, but it was worth it. The area is lovely and seeing the sheep, stags, and even some highland cows made the scenic routes so enjoyable. The home itself is a vacation vibe with so many thoughtful details that made it an extremely comfortable stay. We highly recommend this vacation home. Thank you Ann!

Awesome Skye Cottage

Five days of absolutely gorgeous blue skies on Skye. The cottage and views are awesome. Beautifully renovated with nothing left to chance. An Cealla is the perfect place to escape and decompress from “mainland life”. The wee shop in Glendale is well stocked if you want to stay put and escape the touristy sites. It was one of our absolutely best VRBO’s we’ve stayed in around the world. I’d give it 10 stars, Scottish Tourist Board. Thank you Ann and Donald for sharing your awesome cottage. Hope to return one day.

Our favourite property

We had a wonderful time at An Cealla over the Easter holidays. Of all the properties we've stayed in over the years across Europe, we think it might just be the best of the lot. Clearly so much thought and care has gone in to making this a true luxury home from home experience. Everything we needed was on hand and all the extra touches, from the fires being ready to go on arrival to the welcome gifts (both for us and for the dog!) made such a difference. We didn't have the best of the weather whilst there (not that we returned home to Scotland for the weather of course!) but being able to cozy up in the snug with the fire on of a grey and wet evening and look out over the hills and the water as darkness fell was perfect. We'd 100% recommend An Cealla to anyone considering staying here, just brilliant.

Breathtaking !!

From arriving at the property we were totally overwhelmed by the amazing views and the quietness. The property has everything you need and more, it is a perfect home from home and with every cupboard thoughtfully stocked with everyday utensils There was a village cafe and village store a short walk away so we didn't have to venture far, and stocked lots of local produce. The craft fair held on Tuesdays at the Village hall was lovely to visit too, a proper meet up with the locals !! The dogs also loved it and very safe in the garden being fenced securely from the neighbouring sheep ! Definitely one of the top 2 places we have stayed in on our travels around Skye, The Highlands and Scotland. Thank you Ann & Donald , you have helped us create some wonderful memories of our stay xx

Although the house is more than 150 years old, it has been renovated and brought up to "modern" standards...while still retaining traces of it's past. Situated high on a hillside overlooking a small inlet, the sheep graze contentedly right outside your door, and when the sun goes down it is blissfully quiet...and dark! The extremely comfortable bed, the beautiful bath (and shower!!!) made it a wonderful place to relax after a long day exploring Skye. The heated floors in the bathrooms were an unexpected luxury...definitely worth the price of admission!Our host came over for an hour and we had a great time learning more about the house, and the local area. She has very thoughtfully left little notes and information cards around the house to explain how things work, along with a lovely gift basket, an antique brass telescope for gazing out the window, and binoculars for portable viewing. Be sure to sign the guest book too.The kitchen is well appointed if you want to cook your own meals, and the laundry is most welcome as well.I can't recommend this property enough. All in all an excellent experience...one we hope to repeat again soon!

The best part of our European vacation was our stay here!!

We selected this property for several reasons. First, its location is close to the Hebrides island. We took the ferry from Uig and spent a night on the Isle of Harris. If you want to go somewhere to speak Scottish Gaelic, and see stunning landscapes and beaches, this is the place. Secondly, the property is beautiful! The views from the house are amazing. It is peaceful and quiet. The king-sized bed in the upstairs main room was so comfortable with soft linens. The other top-floor bedroom has two twin beds. The kitchen is fully equipped and even inspired us to cook. The two bathrooms (one on each floor) are modern, beautiful and have heated floors. You can lounge in the massive tub upstairs while looking out at the water and green fields flecked with sheep. This owner made us feel pampered, with a welcome basket of goodies, large bath sheets, beautiful furnishings and artwork. Even the attached laundry room is beautiful and has modern washer and dryer. Glendale is a small, tight knit community. We so enjoyed meeting the people at the Tuesday craft faire, the Skye Weavers, and close by in Dunvegan at the tiny Waterside Cafe Bistro and Misty pizza/fish & chips/gelato. Thank you Ann for such a memorable vacation. It was worth the drive from Edinburgh, learning how to drive on the left side of the tiny roads. We did get used to using the pull-outs on the roads as we waved at the passing cars. We even had a few favorite sheep that we looked for. We want to return.

Very special place indeed

While the house is quite a bit to one side of the Isle of Skye, the location is well worth it. We had great weather. The view from the from the front of the house is spectacular and the view out the back is pretty nice also. The houses here are spaced hundreds of yards apart at least. The town of Glendale has no gas station - fill up in Dunvegan if you must and very few shops. There are sheep EVERYWHERE, as in: on the roads. You can't go very fast, though, because it's all single-track roads with passing places. Quite the culture shock for Americans. The pace around the Isle of Skye is pretty relaxed. You have to drive to get anywhere or see anything; nothing is close. And you can't drive fast. So, just plan to take awhile to see your places. The property is quite old but it is VERY well maintained and its interior is up to modern standards. All bedrooms are upstairs and are roomy enough - pretty nice overall. The bathrooms have heated floors which are wonderful. The bath upstairs has a HUGE bathtub, but no shower. Very nice potential for a romantic night in. Downstairs bath has a very nice shower however. Downstairs has a complete kitchen - one of the best we've seen in a long time. Eating area is spacious. They even have a separate room with washer, dryer and sauna. We really loved staying here even though it's out of the way.
