Cissie by the Sea welcomes you to Big Lake, Louisiana!

A recent guest called our camp a "diamond" and we hope you'll agree! Bring the family to enjoy great fishing and beautiful sunsets at this two bedroom, two bath cottage at Big Lake. This camp has one of the best wharfs in the region, featuring a boat slip, fish cleaning station, two LED fishing lights, and an incredible upper deck where you can enjoy beautiful views and get your tan on. "Cissie by the Sea" sleeps up to eight people and offers great space for entertaining. The screened in porch offers additional seating and dining table. Just 20 minutes from Lake Charles, you'll feel like you've escaped to another world not far from the Creole Nature Trail.

There are two trundle beds in one bedroom (sleeps 4) and twin beds in the 2nd bedroom. The queen sofa bed sleeps two.

Weber charcoal grill, automatic coffee pot (sweetners provided) and lots of kitchen amenities will help you enjoy your relaxing time on the lake. Enjoy our board games, kayaks and a paddle board available, too!

We are proud to welcome you to Cissie by the Sea, which is fully remodeled after Hurricanes Laura and Delta in 2020. We are back and ready to have some fun, so come be a part of our new chapter! The camp gets its name from local legend Cissie McLeod, who also happened to be our mother. We aim to provide a place your whole family can enjoy, just as ours has for decades! Fish on!

Great cozy place set up for fishing!

This was my second stay here with friends and family. I hope for many more in the future! The house is cozy and modern. Easy 10 minute drive to a little local grocery store. The dock is set up nicely for fishing. Boat launch is about 100 yards down the road. It's really a lovely little house and the hosts were extremely accommodating.

Big Lake stay at Cissie

Nice camp right on the water. Beautiful dock and sun/sunset deck, screened porch, well-equipped kitchen and living area. Booked a fishing trip out of Heberts Landing, a short walk away, so convenient.

Heaven on Earth

This place is an diamond. We loved everything about it. I highly recommend morning coffee on the deck. Fishing was awesome, we even caught sting rays. We will definitely be back. .

Sisters Trip

We loved staying at this quaint, waterfront cottage. The single beds were nice as we didn’t have to share beds. There were plenty of linens, blankets, towels, and toiletries. We enjoyed the large kitchen and appreciated having all the cookware and dishes available. And sunsets were the absolute best on the screened in porch

Great views of the Lake!

The house was great! We totally enjoyed the lake views from the house with all those windows in the back and the screened porch. The dock was awesome to fish from with the big lights at night and the 2nd floor deck was fun to just chill on and watch the sunset. We had some rain that came in and stayed with us too but the house was setup perfect to enjoy family time and just relax while it poured rain outside. Lots of board games in the closet! The kitchen was great and stocked up with everything you need to cook. The owner is awesome and we had great communication with her. We will definitely be back someday. Loved it!

Can’t wait to stay again!

Beautiful view and amazing dock! We absolutely loved spending time at Cissie by the Sea! The kitchen is spacious and well stocked, beds are very comfortable, and living/dining area provides the perfect place for family time. We enjoyed the having morning coffee on the porch! This is definitely the best spot on Big Lake!

Great Place to Stay

Very spacious and clean property. My buddies and I go on a fishing trip every summer, and although this year was a mostly a bust because of no tidal movement in Big Lake, we still had a very relaxing and comfortable trip. Amenities were all there, including large back deck and very nice pier.

Fishing Trip

Cissy By The Sea

You all did a fantastic remodel! Everything was so fresh and clean. We were very comfortable and the neighborhood is pleasant to walk around and see what the other houses look like. I didn't see any trash in the street or on the properties. The walkway to the pier is beautiful and safe, especially with the lights all the way down. And I love how you put an upper deck over the boathouse! I love the back porch. The craftsmanship of all the woodwork was superb! I'm sorry the internet wasn't working while we were there - I know you tried your best to get it going. The many windows are so nice letting in the light. I don't know if it's just me, but I would like to see some Roman shades at the top of the windows for nighttime privacy. Also, I'd like to see dead bolt locks on both doors - I'd feel safer. And a Roman shade over the front door glass - again for privacy. All my husband cared about was the fishing. Unfortunately, he didn't catch a thing, in spite of consulting the predictions. What's the word around the neighborhood re. the amount of fish people are catching? Just curious Thanks again for making things so comfortable.

Great vacation rental

We had a great time and the rental is exactly as described. The kitchen has everything you need to cook and bake and the dock is lit at night so makes for fun night fishing.

Great Weekend Getaway

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here..This place has all the necessities for you trip. Pots, pans, cooking utensils, and everything you could ask for! The fishing was great, the wide open views inside made it perfect for relaxing and conversation. We will be back and encourage everyone to give this place a shot! Much needed long weekend!

Needing a weekend away, our family rented this camp and was more than pleased! The renting and check-in process was easy, and the camp was immaculate. We thoroughly enjoyed the open kitchen and living room layout and the back screened in porch is great! The weather was beautiful, and the sunsets did not disappoint! We did get lucky fishing and crabbing off the wharf, loved the time spent outside. Our family will definitely rent again.

My family and friends had an amazing time! I would highly recommend staying here! I can’t wait to book again! We caught so many fish! The view was amazing! The home was clean! Our family has been in Lake Charles for five generations. Big Lake is our favorite place in the world! Our camp was hit by hurrianes Laura and Delta in 2020 and our mom, Cissie, passed away two months later. It's taken us 2.5 years to complete the remodel, but it was well worth the wait! Our new house is just amazing. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do. The property is owned by three sisters and our families.
