Brilliant stay

Hi we had a two night stay whilst visiting family. The property was fabulous and very well equipped. Would definitely recommend and stay there again

Nice cottage in nice village

We had a nice stay at your little cottage. The Christmastree was a plus and the beds were very good. Not everything was clean in the kitchen and the seats in the living room has got their best time, not good for the back. It's a bit pricey ...

Lovely, homely cottage in a good location

Lovely property within walking distance of local amenities and nearby attractions. The cottage was exactly as described and felt very homely. Nayland itself was a great place to stay with plenty of good walks in the vicinity. Charlie from Idyllic was most helpful when I was making our booking.

A lovely cottage

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Constable Cottage. It was very clean, well equipped and comfortable. It had everything we needed for a very pleasant stay. My partner loved it and was very happy with my choice for a long weekend break. The weather wasn't great when we was there but that didn't stop us from enjoying our time there.

Wonderful house in a picturesk village

It was a cosy home, everything one needs was available. The secluded garden was heavenly to sit in. The setting was lovely and quiet,but close enough to be alle to do lovely days out. I would cetainly return to this house. Thanks for the wonderful stay

A June week in Nayland

We had a very relaxing week at Constable Lodge. The cottage is light, comfortable and tastefully furnished. We loved listening to all the birdsong in the garden. Nayland village is very friendly and full of picturesque houses. We explored the Essex /Suffolk border area and particularly liked Dedham and Flatford Mill.

Another comfortable stay in this delightful cottage

We had an excellent week in Constable Lodge. We have stayed a couple of times before and it felt like coming home - particularly helpful as sadly we had come down for a funeral. Comfortable seating in lounge, and comfy beds. Small but very well equipped kitchen with a large fridge freezer. Good shower as well as a bath. Great little garden area at the back for sitting/eating out when the weather allows (we were lucky). Overall, a really sympathetically and tastefully restored cottage in a lovely village.

Constable cottage. Nayland

Very nice clean cottage but road was very busy and car parking was not easy. Also no village shop so had to travel a distance for buying food. We did enjoy our stay there but wish there had been more to do in the village..A welcome bottle of wine would have been nice as we have had this for shorter stays.

Mixed feelings

Although the cottage itself is very pleasant I was disappointed at its location on a fairly busy road and with no off road parking. It wasn’t very relaxing.

Nice accommodation, shame about the parking

Constable lodge is well set up and there was no superficial dirt, although some of the floors (bathroom particularly) are in need of a deep clean. The main drawback is that the parking is non-existent and the roadside parking mentioned in the instructions was all occupied so it is some distance to any safe and available parking. This could be made clearer before booking. We only cooked one meal but did find that many of the kitchen pots/utensils had obviously been put away after a quick go through the dishwasher and not checked. The pan was greasy and there were strands of vegetable in the grater, we had to rewash serving spoons too. Finally a bit weird that you can't change the thermostat or boost the hot water - the heating came on randomly one evening and we had to shut down all the radiators!

So sorry that Ian felt the parking didn’t work. In the pre-arrival communication we do say that parking is on the street and explain the various options some of which are always available, so it’s simply not correct to say ‘parking is non-existent’. On the other points we just wish something had been said while he was staying so they could have been instantly rectified.

Awful experience

If I could put 0 stars I would. Be wary providing this company with card details. This is a scamming company that takes charges after stays without consent or notice. The owner turned the heating off from he’s phone during our stay which left us freezing with no hot water. The owner pops in whenever he wants which includes you being UNDRESSED. Charlie is useless replies hours later with an attitude. My partner is pregnant and was left to sleep on the floor in-front of the fire to keep warm!! EXPECT TO PAY AN EXTRA £25 PER DAY FOR FIRE LOGS AND AN EXTRA £200 when leaving the property. This company is disgusting not helpful in the slightest. I have stayed plenty of places and never been treated so poorly. DO NOT STAY WITH THIS COMPANY.

Chilled Relaxing Cottage Break

The cottage is beautiful. We appreciated all the little welcoming touches We can see that it’s been renovated to a really high standard - all new appliances beautiful decor and lovely little finishing touches and a great location. I enjoyed exploring the village of Nayland and watching the world go by walking along the river paths of the River Stour with my little dog
