Great for 2 Families

We had a wonderful time during our stay. The Sandbanks was very close and so were all amenities. The owners communicated with us accurately and friendly. We would recommend this to all families with children.

Beautiful property near Sandbanks

We had a wonderful week at this property, which is secluded on a small street, close to the Sandbanks provincial park. Were very grateful for the park permits included, which helped us avoid the lines up. The local wine left for us was a nice touch. Overall, our group enjoyed our stay.

Scenic, quiet and comfortable space for friends and family get away.

We were so happy to stay at Warren’s place for a girls weekend / winery trip. We were very well hosted, knew what to expect and loved the spacious home for our comfort. The back yard and patio space wEre a highlight, and the fire pit with hot tub was a hit with our guests. Thank you for the comfortable stay. We will stay again.

Ladies Getaway

Spacious accommodations for our group of 12. Recent renovations are very nice. Well equipped kitchen. Owner quick to respond to questions. Located close to wineries, breweries and shopping. A great rental house for large group!

Girls weekend away

The property was beautiful. The rooms were as shown. We loved the hot tub. We couldn't connect to the wifi but that was ok (country living)! The kitchen was well supplied. We would definitely recommend this property.

Great location, lots of space, perfect for a couple families

Nice and close to beaches and activities. Really enjoyed the vacation. Property needs a bit clean up and TLC. Bathroom sink didn’t work and leaked. Property is close to water but not waterfront.

Spacious and a beautiful place to stay.

We all loved the space in this place. Fully furnished and well managed. Owner was respectful, responsible and responsive to the needs. Unfortunately we were not able to use the lake as this place was not waterfront and couldn’t use the passes for the beach as it was very windy and cold however we really enjoyed the hot tubs. Overall a beautiful experience.

Overall good experience

It was overall a good experience, there was pelting of space for everyone attending. The garbage disposal process was a little annoying but nothing inconvenient.

Our stay at Summer Laughlin Cottage

This was a very good stay, we were close to the venue where our daughter was getting married. We had a varied assortment of guests including family and friends. We enjoyed the hottub and various local "critters" including squirrels, chipmunks and birds. Two fridges were very handy to hold all our food and bevvies. Lots of beds for everyone. Cleaning very average, spa water full of chemicals that discolored clothing, not enough beach passes

Table not big enough for 14 , old wood with nails beside the spa, shower curtains mold, unfinished frontyard, not a view on lake but on swomppound

Thanks for the Review, The wood beside the spa is for burning some of the wood might have some nails so use caution, the front yard is now completed it is hard to book landscapers during a guest stay so it was completed after you left, the view from the front of the house is of West Lake.

Beautiful place (in need of a little more love)

Great location. Parc passes and free access to kayaks were a huge plus. Property not always equipped for larger groups (chairs, kitchenware). Would need better upkeep and updating (make sure appliances are running smoothly). Internet connection did not work

Enjoyed the County

It was just what we needed. We have travelled with the group before but not since before the Pandemic and some can no longer travel out of Country. The facility was roomy and well stocked; We enjoyed the outside as much as the inside. My Husband I lived in The County for 9 years and if was good to explore our old haunts. One suggestion would be safety maps for the tubs/shower, and at least one bathroom with a safety grab bar. Thanks to the hosts for a lovely stay. JW

Overall stay was enjoyable spacious and comfortable.

We recommend the washrooms to be upgraded adding a shower stall to the washroom attached to the Master bedroom. Directions to Garbage disposal was mislead and we were unable to dspose the Garbage, which made us to go to sandbanks provincial Park at a additional cost to us. There were no complimentary bottles of wine as mentioned in one of your information sheets.

Great Area - HousevNeeds Some TLC

House was generally as shown in pictures but in a fairly run down state. The AC did not work and it was close to 30 Celsius during our stay. Owner was fairly responsive and seemed like a nice guy but promised to send someone in to fix the AC but it never happened.

Thank you for your review. We had installed a brand new NEST thermostat this season for the comfort of our guests and the first use of this system needed to get the bugs out. The air conditioning was fixed and ran better than expected all summer. This was a 4 day rental during a weekend and the technician was at the property the next business day faster than we expected.

Know before you Go

Overall our stay at this Sandbanks property was enjoyable. We had a large group of ladies stay here to enjoy wine country for 3 nights. The location, included Sandbanks car passes, and hot tub were huge bonuses. On the other hand we found the cleanliness of the property did not meet our expectations. As well, the property lacked some common amenities we have seen in other vacation rentals - such as no hand soap provided in the bathrooms, no paper towel, and limited cookware and linens. I would recommend this spot to large groups looking to take advantage of a great location and spacious accommodations but would caution renters that this property may not suit families or those wishing to cook much at home.

Enjoy the Sandbanks - Convenient Location

For large groups looking for a conveniently-located rental near the Sandbanks take a look at this option. Within less than 10 minutes you can be on one of several popular beach locations, plus you get two vehicle passes. You can drop off and pick up easily if anyone wants to stay behind at the house. Easily accommodates 4 vehicles on property if you need. You know how they say you get what you pay for? Considering the daily/weekly rental price, it's good value. The house itself, the amenities, as well as furnishings are a bit dated, and while one would love to see a newly modernized kitchen, and new beds, it would drive up the cost of the rental. I looked at similarly sized places with a lakefront dock and modern amenities and they were 50-100% higher in cost. Owners were very responsive when we reported an appliance failure (they replaced it as soon as they could). Our rental also came with 4 hour use of a pontoon boat, as well as unlimited rental of kayaks at nearby West Lake Watersports. This was great value. Property is very secluded so no worries about nearby parties nor congestion: yet, it's a 5' drive to the beaches, located very close to Wellington & Picton. If you're looking for modern, fully refurbished interiors with new kitchen and fancy bathrooms this is not the place for you. If you need to have a large family gathering and no one is picky about where they sleep, this is perfect for you! Most importantly, our family reunion was a success due to this rental!

Lots of space for everyone - but one tripping hazard

We rented this house for a family reunion. 4 siblings in our 60's, plus spouses, plus some adult "children" plus one newborn. There was lots of room for sleeping. There are essentially two master bedrooms (the original and an addition at the back) plus three other bedrooms. The sofa beds were not very comfortable (we had more that 10 staying) - people just slept on the sofas themselves or on the sofas in the living room. So - lots of room. And the living room handled everyone for trivia night. The kitchen doesn't look that big, but 3 or 4 were regularly in it without too much problem. The outdoor space was big enough for everyone as well. Lots of chairs, lots of shade. The hot tub was a nice bonus. But the one big issue we had with the property was on the patio. It was on a slight step down (one brick height) and it is very hard to see the change in elevation. Most of us tripped on it - the mother of the newborn actually fell. Fortunately she wasn't holding be baby. After that we put up a wall of beer cans to warn people and I recommend others do the same The cleanliness was good, not great. It really felt like it needed a deep clean. We had three issues - a leaking faucet, a very slow coffee maker and a dryer that didn't dry. Warren was very quick to respond (he replaced the faucet and coffee maker - but the dryer had to wait until after we left). The location is great - very close to Sandbanks. And the park passes and the pontoon boat rental were great.

Nous somme satisfait du chalet. La propreté était correct sans plus. Il manquait un balai afin de pouvoir ramasser le sable. Le lave vaisselle fonctionnait mal et les ustensiles de vaisselle dont le set de chaudron étaient désuets.

Major maintenance problems

We were disappointed with the way the property is maintained; neglected, dirty rugs, threadbare bedding on poor mattresses, with inadequate numbers of towels, pillow cases and blankets for the 14 people permitted. The ancient oven did not work, and we were forced to cook our Thanksgiving dinner, including the turkey, on the BBQ. ` We were celebrating Thanksgiving there and had to spend a lot of time just handling problems. Starting off, VRBO gave us the wrong password. We had to text several times to find the information we needed was on the frig door. The oven did not reach 300 degrees F and we had to cook the turkey in the BBQ, along with the veggies. We ate the ham cold. We had called earlier to check on the oven and was told it was fine. The stove was inconsistent, it bubbled like a volcano, burned on the bottom but left the middle cool. The ice cube maker did not work and the refrigerator light there was out. There were not enough towels for 14. Considering that we were charged $150 extra for the hot tub, there should have been a reasonable number of towels. We were instructed to take the garbage to the dump at the campground or pay a $100 fee. We had difficulty locating the dump, and found that it was closed; confirmed by the owner after we spent time finding out the hard way. All of us have rented VRBO around the world and have never had to handle the garbage. There were two safety issues that need to be addressed. The bricks on the porch step are loose and pots of mums, used to mark the loose bricks, were very attractive but left only a narrow space to walk through so one would not fall off. A big problem was that the living room is sunken so there is a step at both ends of the room. One 84 year old woman fell down and landed on the table with the glass top and is still suffering substantial rib pain. Two others, both younger males also stumbled, but were able to save themselves from totally landing on the floor. There needs to be a red or yellow stripe on the edge. When bringing in luggage and supplies, one is not looking down but ahead and the step is not readily seen. We kept chairs in front of the area during our stay to warn others. (This same complaint was mentioned in review by Caroline S on September 2019. Host said “all future guests will be made aware of this step”. That obviously has not happened). This could have been catastrophic Lovely house but does not meet potential.

Thanks for the review, we appreciate all reviews. To address some of your comments the carpets although are professionally cleaned twice a year and with the heavy use of weekly rentals they dirty quite quickly, they cannot be steam cleaned between weekly rentals as they will not dry fast enough. You are also the last rental of the season so the carpets are scheduled to be cleaned as soon as you are gone. The flooring is also being replaced this winter with hard flooring. We use a laundry service so there are plenty of towels for every guest they are located in the linen closet. The oven works fine as soon as you left we went in and turned the oven completely off and then turned it on and it reached a temperature of 500 celcious with our laser temperature reader. The stove top also worked perfect, please remember to adjust the temperature accordingly to your needs and there is a highpowered element that heats up quick. The fridge light is fine and works great (the fridge is only 1 yr old) but you must close the doors fully for the light to reset and work properly. This goes for the ice maker also if you don't close the door fully the icemaker won't work as it dispenses ice through the door and if it thinks the door is open it wont dispense ( if you have traveled the world you should know this, it's common sense). Thank you for removing the garbage as per the agreement when you booked. We will work on raising the gorgeous sunken living room or putting a large flashing light so your WHOLE family won't misstep. Séjour de 3 jours SandsBanks

Grande maison, emplacement parfait à côté de Sandbanks. Maison nécessite plus d'entretien(tapis tâchés, comptoir de cuisine brûlé et beaucoup d'usure) mais quand même idéal pour grand groupe car maison spacieuse et bien divisée. Cependant, pas de serviettes et draps en quantité suffisante pour groupe de 14 tel que nous avons réservé. Pas de linge de vaisselles. Manque de coupe de vin. Pas de réponse aux textos envoyés pour avoir des draps et serviettes additionnels.

merci pour l'examen, nous changeons actuellement les tapis en sols durs et veuillez garder à l'esprit qu'il y a plusieurs serviettes supplémentaires dans le placard à linge central. nous sommes heureux que vous ayez apprécié votre séjour.

Belle maison, beau terrain et près des plages magnifiques

A notre arrivée, il n’y avait pas d’électricité et pas d’eau dû à du mauvais temps, s’est peut être pour cette raison que les salles de bains étaient plus ou moins propres que l’eau du spa n’avait pas été changée et que les bouteilles de vins promises n’étaient pas là. Malgré ça, nous avons apprécié notre séjour dans une magnifique maison située tout près des superbes plages et de plusieurs vignobles. Merci!
