Garrett House | Hill Country retreat in Kerrville

The Garrett House is a Dwell Well vacation rental property located just 3 blocks from Downtown Kerrville, TX. The Garrett house has many amenities like a well-appointed kitchen, POOL, HOT TUB, OUTDOOR SHOWER, FIRE PIT, and Herb Garden. This home is walking distance to many great restaurants, coffee, bars, theater, river trail and more.

Beautiful neighborhood with several historic homes. Several of the homes on the block (including ours) are "Sears" homes, Homes you would pick out of a Sears catalog and have the materials shipped to you for you to build. Ours was built in 1925. The Garrett house is ideal for entertaining and family vacations. This 100 year-old home has been remodeled, but still has some of the original character!

Amenities: The backyard is large with a pool, hot tub, fire pit, screened in porch, and deck/outdoor shower off the master bath. The back yard has a 8 ft. high cedar fence, with a nice barbeque for grilling. We have a family of deer that just might show up to hang out with you on the front lawn. The house has WIFI, Spectrum cable, Sonos sound, and iPhone chargers in each room.

Safety Notes: If you have small children, please take into consideration the pool and hot tub before booking. Safety is a huge concern for all our little ones. All use of the pool and hot tub are at your own risk. We do not have any lifeguards on duty. Also please know that the tile around the pool surround can get VERY slippery when it is wet, please be cautious.

Perfect Getaway

From the booking to checkout, this house and host are TOP notch! The house is adorable and exactly as described...maybe even better. Absolutely love that my 11 year old golden retriever was allowed to swim in the pool. He doesn't swim long but he loves it! The hot tub was perfect temperature upon arrival, as was the house. This host communicates with you quickly if you have any questions, even stupid ones, lol. Best VRBO we have stayed at so far!

Charming oasis in downtown Kerrville.

I am from Colorado and needed a place to stay very last minute as my sister suddenly and unexpectedly passed away. The property host, Kim, was amazing to work and very kind and helpful. She was available by text message or by phone any time I needed her. She was always responsive, accommodating, and thoughtful. She offered to bring my family and I dinner one evening in light of the events. I needed to extend my stay by a night. I messaged Kim and she took care of it immediately. The home is absolutely beautiful and charming. I fell in love with the decor! Very clean and spacious. The property is well-maintained and is stocked with everything you need (cooking, sleeping, showering, doing laundry, games, riding bikes etc). We also went in an evening bike ride with the bikes there at the property. We swam and enjoyed the hot tub. Also worth mentioning is the outdoor shower near the hot tub and before entering the master bathroom-fully equipped with hot water! There is a separate “ carriage” house that serves as an office and small library. I actually found an amazing book that I started reading while I was there. The location is right downtown and very close to grocery/liquor stores, sit down and fast food restaurants, and much more. I would 100% stay here in the future and highly recommend it to all.

Beautiful and cozy home. It was perfect!

This was the perfect weekend getaway. The house is stunning and is in a great location. The backyard is a paradise and we enjoyed the pool all weekend. Will definitely plan to return.

the Garrett house stay

great place to stay, very well set up, quiet calm neighborhood, and neighbors. all the amenities you could ask for, outdoor grilling, fire pit, swimming and hot tub. will definitely try to reserve again when in Kerrville.

This is an adorable house with a fantastic outdoor space. I love that the property owner didn't burden us with complicated check in/ out procedures. The house was perfect for our family of 4.

What a Gem

It’s not often you find a fabulous house in the city that also has a great outdoor space with a pool AND is dog friendly. If that’s your vibe, you’ll love this little gem! The decor is simply adorable, the house very comfortable and had everything we needed to feel at home. And the backyard…even in 100+ degrees…fabulous! It’s totally worth it!

little piece of heaven

We loved our stay here. my husband and I were looking for a nice home with a pool. well this place went well above my expectations. the kitchen was stocked with whatever you might need. the bed super comfty!! the backyard is like your own little oasis. they have a privacy fence and a pool that was so fun in this texas heat. Kim the owner was absolutely amazing, if we needed anything she answered my texts right away! we didnt have any problems at all. The AC worked great in this texas heat. We will definitely be coming back

Fantastic Getaway

This home is amazing! We loved the style, comfort, location, privacy, and fantastic host. We even had deer come visit the front yard in the early evening! We would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing Hill Country getaway!

Charming House

The house was perfect for what we needed. The only thing I was disappointed with was the fireplace. It was full of ash and soot, which gave the house a smoky smell throughout. Given the nightly rate, this was surprising. Otherwise, it had all the amenities we needed and the process was easy.

Beautiful and Relaxing

Very clean. Fully stocked with all essentials and lots of extras including spices, condiments, and more. Everything in excellent condition. Comfortable beds, lots of towels, beautiful landscaping, lovely pool. A/C worked well during this super hot spell. Grateful to be able to bring our big dogs - even pickup bags, bowls, and a bed were available! We enjoyed our stay and would definitely return!

Best stay ever!

I travel over 100 days per year and typically stay in high end resorts and luxury hotels. On occasion, VRBO has better options depending on where we are going. In this case, not only was our choice in a VRBO the best possible choice we could make, it was one of the best experiences we have had! Kimberly is top 3 best hosts I've ever worked with. She cares so much about your experience, your comfort, fun and making everything as easy as possible. She is top notch and will not hesitate to recommend her! The home is flawless. It is absolutely everything the photos depict and more. It is gorgeous, spotless, has every amenity you need and the back yard is like a resort. It's such an easy walk to town and yet it's peaceful and you are in your own little oasis. The best are so comfortable, everything works perfectly, the design is stunning and the pool is the icing on the cake. Quiet Getaway

This property has EVERYTHING you may need. Pool and hot tub area were immaculate. And lawn and landscaping are well manicured. We were very impressed with the luxurious setting and attention that was paid to the tiniest details. Quiet neighborhood but still close to downtown and pharmacy and grocery store. Perfect quiet getaway.

I will return to Kerville just to experience Garrett Home

Though I usually love most homes I stay at, very few set themselves significantly apart from the rest. Garrett Home does exactly that! . Kim’s home was exquisitely appointed with meticulously thought out details; impossible to express from photos alone. From the entry tile, to the welcoming living and dining rooms, excellent designed kitchen with a door to the screened porch inviting you to a perfectly balanced oasis where landscaping, pool, fire pit, grilling area, jacuzzi, and lighting keep you wondering if you should stay inside or out! I’m not kidding! Master bedroom spacious and peaceful was bathed in color throughout its curtains. The master bathroom with his and hers sinks and excellently tiled shower also invite your to the backyard with a door that opens to a deck with outside shower and stepping down to jacuzzi and peaceful fire pit inviting reflection. Communication with our host Kim surpassed any expectations. I cannot express how generous our host was. Kitchen had Krups coffee maker, filtered water, tea kettle. Bathrooms were furnished with the finest toiletries. The second bedroom has an adorable vintage claw foot bathtub in array of colorful decor. Do not hesitate when looking for a place to rest while visiting Kerville. Although cycling or triathlon events occur year round, the Garrett home is a place to come to just to be still and rest.

Awesome place to stay in a cute town with lots to do!

Kimberly's home is a wonderful place to come and relax! Her home is warm and inviting and contains all the modern amenities while still holding that antique charm. The hot tub was wonderful, and we can't wait to come back for a longer stay and to enjoy the new pool! Downtown is a short walk away and Fredericksburg is a short drive to enjoy more shopping!

most welcoming, vibrant, beautiful getaway house

My husband (in cahoots with host Kimberly) surprised me with the most amazing 5 year anniversary getaway. The Garrett House is the dreamiest, most beautiful, creative, quaint piece of renovated history in the beautiful Hill Country. Even the trim work is worth staring at! We were made to feel right at home. Kim was the perfect hostess as she even prepped the house with my husband's requested amenities like rose petals and wine/cheese. It made the surprise that much more special! Will absolutely be returning.

Comfortable and cute - just what we needed!

This cottage is so adorable and just perfect for what we needed for our stay in Kerrville. The house comfortably fit 4 adults and 1 toddler... and bonus, we could walk to dinner! Kim was a gracious host.. checking in on us before our arrival and making sure everything was clean, stocked and easy to find. We will definitely be booking again next year when we need to stay in Kerrville for kid camp pick up!

Hill Country Gem

We stayed in this convenient Downtown Kerrville listing the night before we picked up our kids at camp in the Hill Country. It was darling, incredibly well-appointed, tastefully renovated, and well-located. Our dinner at the Cowboy Steakhouse was only 3-4 blocks away. The owner is very helpful and responsive. This is possibly the best vrbo listing we've stayed in (and we have stayed in quite a few). Consider this rental for your next Hill Country vacation if you are traveling with a party of four or less.

Such a charming home!

We couldn't have been happier. This home is in a great location. You can walk to the downtown area. The home is so cute and the owner did a great job on thinking how she could go above and beyond for her guests. She even leaves you a charger for your phone incase you forget yours. I can't wait to come back when the pool is finished. You won't be disappointed!!

My husband and I have five adult daughters. We love to travel as well as host friends and family in our home. We are "foodies" and love craft cocktails. Greg is an attorney here in the area and I have been a stay at home mom, run several nonprofits and most recently work as a general contractor. We love to serve and give to others, believing that each of us is uniquely designed by God.
We are beach lovers. We enjoy different cultures, their food, traditions, etc.

I fell in love with the charm of the house as a child. It was built in 1925 by the first owners then sold to the next family in the early 50's. It was enjoyed and loved by their family (5 generations) for almost 75 years and now we are blessed to call it our own. We have lovingly restored the home doing our best to keep the character and charm and adding in the modern amminities and a bit of whimsy.

We are CLOSE TO DOWNTOWN, you can walk to several restaurants, breweries, coffee shop, wine bars. Pour a glass of wine or make a cocktail and walk around town or purchase one from one of the local establishments downtown, street consumption is legal (be responsible of course).
We have an 8 ft fence around the back yard, so it is very private. We have a large Beautiful deck with an awesome OUTDOOR RAIN SHOWER. Large patio for dining and entertaining. Sting lights to light the backyard (on a switch in the houses easy to use). Small screened in porch of the kitchen. Very well appointed kitchen.
