Great getaway!

The place was beautiful with the lake just steps from your backyard, a fire pit, outdoor grill, and swimming pool. Nora provided great hospitality, including fresh coconut waters from the trees as well as the option to have a cook come when we didn’t feel like going out or cooking ourselves. Would highly recommend!

Great place

This house comfortably housed 11 of us. The house was clean and located near downtown Granada. I was able to be just far away from downtown but close enough to everything. Mina and Julio were great. Mina offered cooking services at a reasonable price which was better quality than most restaurant. I highly recommend this place for cleanliness and hospitality of Mina and Julio

Gorgeous home away from home

We recently chose to rent this property out for a few days as a little end of trip relaxation stay. The location was perfect as the drive into town wasn’t long. The listing is accurate and pictures as well. There were a total of 8 of us staying here and there were more than enough room. Mina was as very accommodating, responded quickly, and always had a solution. The property is gorgeous and we felt as though we didn’t have enough time to truly enjoy all it had to offer. I highly highly highly recommend everyone to stay here. It’s perfect for families! Also bring a jacket as it gets windy at night and much cooler :). Can’t wait to be back!

Staying at Casa Portales was one of the most extraordinary experiences I’ve ever had in a home anywhere in the world. After traveling throughout Nicaragua and touring countless properties, nothing compared to the sense of serenity, safety, and emotional comfort that this home provides. Casa Portales isn’t just beautiful — it has a presence, a calming energy, and a feeling of sanctuary that is almost impossible to put into words. From the moment I arrived, I felt deeply at peace. The natural beauty surrounding the home, the thoughtful design, the privacy, and the gentle quiet all worked together to create an atmosphere that truly allows you to breathe. It’s the kind of place where the world slows down, your nervous system settles, and you feel wrapped in a sense of warmth and belonging. The home is immaculately cared for, and everything about it — big and small — made me feel comfortable, safe, and supported. I travel often and have stayed in many incredible properties, but Casa Portales stands alone in how it blends beauty, tranquility, and emotional ease.I loved this home so much that I have chosen it as the retreat space for my women’s empowerment project, Awaken Abroad. Many of the women who will travel with me are stepping out of fear, grief, or major life transitions. They need a place that feels grounding, gentle, and trustworthy. Casa Portales is exactly that place. It’s the kind of home that holds you while you heal, while you grow, while you rediscover parts of y

We had a great experience at your VRBO! Host Mina was excellent! She opened the gate for us morning and night and helped us with anything that we asked for. She and her husband helped us get our bags to the airport by following us there in the pick up truck. The yard was fabulous! What a beautiful display of flowers and the grass was an oasis of green by the beach. The pool and yard were enjoyed by our group. The house also had lots of amenities. We cooked breakfast every morning and the kitchen space provided plenty of room as well as having 2 tables so that all of our team of 12 could eat together. One of our team members cleans houses for a job and she noted that the bathrooms could be cleaner and the dirt is hidden by the poor lighting in the bathrooms. Upstairs bathroom has very poor lighting so the women up there did our makeup using the hall mirror. The lack of hot water was a problem for our team. We had to boil water in the big pots in the kitchen and Mina brought us 2 buckets and cups so that we could pour the hot water over us. Gabby, one of our Spanish speakers told Mina about a solar powered hot water heater. Also, there is no door on the bathroom in the room with a double bed and adjoining room with two twin beds. We had different people staying in each bedroom so they put a chair in the doorway to try and get some privacy. Overall, your house is laid out beautifully for a large group and we would stay there again if you get hot water. Thank you!
