Whether you desire a relaxing retreat, enjoying time with family and friends, daytrips to Tuscaloosa and Birmingham, or quality time in Fayette, The Grimsley House offers this in a beautiful setting.
Built in 1916, The Grimsley House features original woodwork, mantels, moldings, and large living areas and bedrooms. All three upstairs bedrooms feature new queen sized mattresses, quality linens and views of the farm the house sits upon. A convenient kitchen connects to a breakfast room and a large formal dining room.
Enjoy the property by sitting on the porch, playing board games, throwing football in the large yard, going into town for a delicious meal at Fannies, nearby Mexican favorite, Las Palmas, or Lisa's BBQ, and visiting the main street with local attractions including the Fayette Art Museum and historic courthouse.
An easy 40 mile drive to Tuscaloosa and under 2 hours to Birmingham, The Grimsley House is the ideal stay for those who are attending a football game, family reunion, a friends retreat or for a romantic getaway.
The home features a spacious layout, beautiful original woodwork, large yard, views of cotton fields and a one-of-a- kind setting.
The Grimsley House is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has long been a loved and admired landmark in Fayette. We are excited to share our property with you.

Sunrises & Ping Pong Competition.

The ping pong table created some hilarious memories, the sunrise every morning was beautiful from the back porch. The home was so interesting to stay in and seek out all the neat aspects of it. The beds, super comfy. We will be returning for another football weekend for sure.

Absolutely amazing! We stayed the weekend in Fayette for an event in Tuscaloosa and the location was perfect. Country setting with several restaurant options. The house was honestly a gem. So much beauty and character. The house was clean and the beds were all super comfortable! Kitchen had everything you needed for cooking family meals and there were plenty of towels and linens. The hostess was very communicative and super sweet. Our two children absolutely loved the home. I’m so glad we could stay in such a beautiful piece of history. They’ll remember this stay always. Trust me- book it :)

Large rooms great for family gathering.

Great property. The teenagers were afraid. They wanted TV’s in their room. Property was very very quiet. And one family said they should utilize the big rooms and add more beds.

The house was in the PERFECT location for a wedding that I was attending. House had plenty of room. Several restaurants choices close by. The Grimsley House had so much history and beautiful architectural features throughout the home. Several times we caught ourselves just sitting on the front porch looking out at the property. We had family drive up from Florida for the day and they stopped by to freshen up and change clothes. They said they had never seen such a gorgeous well built home. The host was very helpful!! Thanks again for such a wonderful experience.

Awesome historic home.

This home looked great from the inside. It was even better inside. The rooms are huge and very comfortable. It only had one TV in the hall upstairs but we didn't really need more. The home is very comfortable. We loved the antique furnishings. We were only there for 2 nights for graduation at Alabama but would love to spend more time there at some point. The host Rebecca was wonderful. I texted her and she texted right back. A very pleasurable stay.

Historic, stately home

A 100+ Year old great house in rural Alabama. The house is well maintained and the owner very responsive. It was a very relaxing experience.

Great sleeping

The beds were very comfortable and a good night's sleep was had by all. An exceptional house architecturally - gives you lots of ideas about how folks lived a century ago.

Perfect big city escape

Our family came here to evacuate from Hurricane Ida. The property was perfect. I wouldn’t change a thing. The host was amazing and accommodating for our situation. Well stocked house. We will vacation here again.

Southern Beauty

Beautiful inside and out. My wife's brother drove up from Talladega and didnt want to leave. In small quiet town great yard and dog friendly. Would love to see some rocking chairs on the porch some day!

Awesome Alabama Getaway

We came down for the Alabama football game, and happened to find this property. The host was very accommodating, quick to respond, and flexible with our requests. The house was spotless, the bedding, and towels were high quality, and overall, this was a very positive experience, and we hope to be back! Thanks for the great, inviting home!

Unique comfortable property!

This is a great place to stay for a family! We had a graduation to attend inTuscaloosa and the drive is very pleasant into the University. Plenty of room, very quiet and comfortable. Kitchen has everything you need and they added a grill for our stay! I would consider staying again on another visit to the area and recommend this property to anyone with a group that needs some space and a nice gathering area to visit.
