Cottage on the River

Home on the Ranch Guest Cottage is located in the beautiful Kettle Valley on the Kettle River. Surrounded by 20 acres of lawns and fields, a few chickens and cows. Hot dry summers and snowy winters.
You will have a two bedroom one bath home with everything you need to make your stay comfortable.
Full kitchen with fridge, stove, dishwasher and microwave. Tiny wood stove in the kitchen for extra coziness.
Master bedroom looks out onto the river from attached deck. Perfect place for morning coffee.
Second bedroom has a double and a double/twin bunkbed.
Living room has two comfy modern sofas, TV , radio, board games and books. Netflix and WiFi available.
Rent Kayaks or canoe or floats to float down the Kettle River in summer. Quiet and peaceful.
We are hobby farmers who grow our own naturally raised cattle, garden and chickens for eggs. A dozen eggs will be waiting in the fridge for you.
There is a barbeque, firepit and outside table and chairs for relaxing after a full day.
We are 45 minutes away from some of the best wineries. Golf course down the road and ski hill just 30 minutes away.

A lovely cottage with everything we needed plus farm fresh eggs! And the chickens wandering about to remind us. Quiet and peaceful, enough room for us all and many birds to watch and listen for. The perfect fit for our group

Beautiful spot

Our happy place

Love this rental and location, the cottage is so comfortable and the river is like an old fashioned swimming hole. Debbie and Lanny are great hosts.

Great little get away

The Little House is great, Lanny and Debbie were great hosts. The turkeys and chickens entertained the kids, they also loved the water right behind the house. Great little getaway from daily life, just what we needed.

Great area and perfect management

Very idyllic setting by Rock Creek. Quiet, surrounded by nature and short distance to many outdoor activities. The cottage is very tastefully furnished, clean and provide great base for exploring the area. The hosts are friendly, helpful and fast responding to requests. One of our best stay.

Great Place

A little bit of heaven

A wonderful retreat away from city life. A time of quiet reflection on a farm and river with wonderful big sky, sights and sounds of animals and fantastic hosts. Accommodations was everything you could need or want for a home away from home.

Lovely spot on the river very quiet. Cottage was immaculate. Enjoyed the deer, birds and apples. We will come back

Serene perfect place to stay

Anyone looking for a comfy well appointed place in a serene setting with the nicest hosts imaginable should look no further. Highly recommended. Spent 3 nights here with my 10 year old son and we couldn’t have asked for more. 10/10

Awesome hosts and surroundings

We spent four nights at this awesome place. Debbie and Lanny were excellent hosts. Our kids fed the chickens, went tubing on the river and ride their bikes on the Trans Canada Trail behind the property. Very relaxing atmosphere. We'll definitely return in the future. Ana and Ben

Life on the River

All of us (5 adults) thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the cabin by the river. The cabin was well equipped and contained all the necessary amenities that made our stay relaxing and enjoyable. The hosts were friendly and helpful, even offering us farm fresh eggs in the morning. Although there was no ac the cabin remained cool throughout the day and night. This was an excellent getaway!

Above & Beyond

The cottage was fully stocked with everything you need for a week long vacation, or longer really! The owners went above and beyond to help us feel welcome, share about the area and make sure we always had everything we needed! The acerage is absolutely beautiful! So quiet and relaxing. We loved hanging out, and learning about the chickens! The property has access to the river, a fire pit and BBQ. Our family, with 2 teenagers, highly recommends this property!

A thoroughly wonderful experience

My husband and I spent a week here in early September, and couldn't have wished for a lovelier time. I counted 44 bird species from the back deck, which overlooks the beautiful Kettle River. We swam in the river, played golf at the excellent course nearby, cycled the rail trail across the river, and canoed in Jewel Lake. The cottage is absolutely clean, and utterly charming. Debbie and Lanny are delightful hosts, as are their 7 curious turkeys. We're already planning our next visit.

Great place to stay

Beautiful cottage right by the river. Fully stocked kitchen with a BBQ right outside. Having a morning coffee on the back deck while watching the river go by, and having an afternoon snack at the front watching the cows graze and the chickens roam was great. Debbie and Lanny are excellent hosts, very friendly and more than happy to share tips on what to see in the area. There were some nice hiking opportunities very nearby, including a great hike up to a viewpoint of the valley, lots of deer to see around there for sure. Definitely would recommend! Not to mention the dozen fresh farm eggs they graciously provided. Delicious! Matt

We live on 40 acres of land. The cottage is on several acres backing onto the Kettle River. It was the family home while growing up in this area. In 2015 we started to renovate and make some changes. We decided to try vacation renting and have enjoyed hosting people from all over the world!
We have a small farm with cattle, hay vegetable garden and a few chickens, a couple of cats, Yorkie and lots of visiting wildlife.

Por qué eligió esta propiedad

We built our home on the neighbouring ten acres. This farm was in the family since the 1940's. Being right on the river has been wonderful for birds, beaver, river otters, eagles, deer, elk and moose. The coyotes can set up quite a howl on some nights. We never know which critter will be visiting but it is always interesting.

This is such a pretty area with clean air, drinkable water from the tap, no chemicals or pesticides, river frontage, just good clean living.
