This lovely art-filled southern Columbia county home combines rustic charm (“log cabin”) with modern style and a spacious 2300 SF interior with a large deck and great mountain view (partially obscured by trees in summer). Located on a quiet (except for the birds, frogs and crickets) dead end road on 3.5 acres of nature, yet near Rhinebeck, Tívoli, Bard College and Hudson with so much to explore.
And it’s only 2 hours from Manhattan!
The house is on a dead end street with only two other houses, fairly spread out. It's a couple of miles east of the Hudson river.
Germantown has just a few businesses - a good restaurant and a casual outdoor dining place, a country market with regular and specialty food items and a deli, a wine/liquor store, a farm store, a flower shop and a couple of gas stations. We now have a yoga studio with Jai who taught many years at Jiva Mukti in NYC. There are also a couple of antique shops. There are more restaurant choices 10 minutes away in Tivoli.
Bard music festival and other performing arts events nearby in the summer. Apple picking in the fall. Berry picking in spring and summer. Historic Kingston. Mansion tours. Dutchess fair grounds. Hiking and biking. Many restaurants, tasting at breweries and distilleries. 40 min to Tanglewood.
This is my weekend house, but I am not always there so I am renting it out to help make ends meet. It is much nicer in terms of furnishings, decor and kitchen and bath amenities than most full-time rentals. You will find it very comfortable!
Dog friendly property - please do not rent if you are allergic. PLEASE NOTE: We have outdoor cameras for security and to monitor numbers of guests. While a few visitors is not a problem, parties and unregistered overnight guests are not allowed.
