We absolutely loved our stay and wouldn't hesitate to book it again if we get an opportunity to come back to Cape Breton. The cottage is beautiful, spacious and has everything you could need.

The cabin and host were wonderful. Very clean with everything you could need and lovely decotarions that the host has obviously put a lot of time into. Excellent communication. My son really loved the swinging chair.Thanks so much!

What a lovely place, perfect location to use as a base for Cabot trail day trips. Beautifully decorated and fully equipped with everything you could possibly need! Just make sure you bring bug spray for the black flies when venturing outdoors.

This property is a gem, and the owner, Jennifer, is terrific. The house is off the beaten track for lots of privacy, but is close to a well-known tourist destination, Beddeck. The house is lovely - carefully furnished and decorated to create a warm and cozy experience for guests. The kitchen is well-stocked (even a good supply of cooking spices!), the bedrooms are comfortable and the bathrooms are stocked as well. The view from the balcony on the 2nd floor is gorgeous. There is a screened porch with a BBQ and there are full laundry facilities in the basement. In short - we loved it and would recommend it to anyone looking for a great stay on Cape Breton!

Excellent place to stay in cape Breton! House was spacious and homely. Beds were incredibly comfortable. Lovely view of the lake. Very quiet peaceful area. Location was perfect, central to joining the Cabot trail as well as 1.5hrs from fort Louisburg. Beaches on the west cost were about an hour away and absolutely stunning. Jennifer was a brilliant host. Super responsive to our messages. We loved our stay and hope to be back next year :)

This place felt like coming home. We absolutely loved it! The house is has every thing you could possibly need. It is roomy, has great natural lighting, and is the perfect getaway. We stayed for two weeks. It is a pleasant drive from Baddeck and so quiet. Sitting on the upper or lower deck with coffee or tea in the morning or evening with the only sound being the lapping of gentle waves in the harbor is a nice way to start and end a day. Jennifer was almost immediate in responding every time I contacted her. This may be the best VRBO we’ve used in the past 25 years. Thanks for opening your home to us.

It was a pleasure to stay here! It's well located, very cozy, spacious, and full of amenities. We felt nestled in a restful, peaceful area, and our dog enjoyed his long walks along the lakeside road. The owner was very attentive to our inquiries.

Beautiful well-located, livable waterfront house.

We had an amazing stay in Big Harbour. The Roost was perfect. It was incredibly clean, had everything we needed and was in a perfect location to venture to all parts of the Cabot Trail. Jen was an amazing host, who gave us some perfect ideas for our adventures. We would definitely come back!

Fantastic stay!

We travelled as a family of 4 plus my father, there was plenty of room for all of us and the cottage was well equipped with everything we needed. With its central location, everything was within a short day trip distance of 1 to 1.5hrs including Fortress of Louisbourg, and Cape Breton Highlands National Park. We had a fabulous time!

Amazing Stay at the Roost

Our family had the most amazing 4 days in Cape Breton using The Roost as our base. The host was amazing and gave us many great recommendations on seeing everything we wanted to see. The cottage itself was in amazing shape and truly felt like a great family home. Would not hesitate to come back if we were going to be in the area or recommend to other friends and family!

Trip to Nova Scotia with friends

The property was extremely clean and delightfully decorated. It was a great place to stay to explore Baddeck and the Cabot Trail. We had a wonderful time. The owner was very responsive to any questions we had. We would definitely use this property again for a vacation, it felt like a home away from home.
