Enjoy this private home that feels like a resort. Set on 20 acres and just 45 miles from NYC. If features manicured ground & gardens, secluded pool, back deck hot tub, multiple patios to gather and dine at, a private trail, a massage chair & table. There are 2 office work areas, a library, dining room, an Adirondack & Aspen inspired Great Room with a massive fireplace, 3 bedrooms, 3 baths + 3 single day beds, and a fully stocked kitchen w/a Wolf stove. Explore nearby Hudson Valley fun: hiking, biking, kayaking, horseback riding, boating and more. Find antiques or explore the many shops of the cute nearby town of Cold Spring. A day and soccer camp for kids are just down the road. Located 5 minutes from the Taconic State Parkway and 20 minutes from Metro-North train station where you're close to stores and amenities but are located in an area "where the country begins".

Fantasted escape from the city

We stayed at Jim and Heather’s property for 3 nights over a long weekend and it was perfect. The grounds, the pool, the house — the perfect respite upstate from the hot city in summer. Would definitely stay again!

A magical getaway!

Our family of four had a wonderful month at Jim & Heather’s country retreat. The home is welcoming & comfortably fit our family of four along with friends who visited. The property is incredible: uniquely built into the side of the mountain. We worked remotely during the week, our 4yr old son attended the daily YMCA camp 5mins down the road, and we enjoyed local restaurants, farmers markets, live music, golf, hiking, and ice cream shops. The garden with fresh produce and the pool that’s beautifully secluded made our month stay truly special. We weren’t familiar with Putnam County before this trip and just one hour from NYC via car and/or one hour via the nearby Peakskill train station make this an ideal urban getaway. We can’t thank Jim & Heather enough & hope to visit their special home again. Thank you!!

Dana and her family were among our favorite guests and were wonderful communicators, and left the lodge in immaculate shape. We love it when guests discover the good life that the Hudson Valley and Putnam Valley has to offer. We and Dana and her family continue to use the lodge as an urban escape in other seasons. They are certainly welcome. 5 star guests all around.

Idyllic mountain retreat

Enjoyed relaxing summer week in beautiful cabin filled with movies, books and music. Just a short walk to hiking trails and charming Hudson River valley towns. Spacious home with well equipped kitchen and large, lovely yard. Attentive hosts.

I'm a long-time Putnam Valley NY resident and lover of the area. I am a documentary filmmaker and newly retired NYU professor. I enjoy hiking, swimming, kayaking, gardening, dinner with friends and family and reading biographies especially about music. I love to host the Lodge because I take pride in it's relaxing power. It’s rewarding to provide guests recommendations for hikes, restaurants, and unique activities in this special area. We like to help guests make the most of their stay.

-Also, we do ON OCCASION ALLOW FOR A PET. Let us know type, age, and situation and we can confer. A small fee may apply. We ask guests to agree to a few things but most importantly, we ask guests to agree they will be financially responsible (not just via VRBO insurance policy) for any repairs or replacements needed due to possible pet damages.

I am pleased to be able to offer this great retreat of a place with others who are respectful of the place, the property and this unique town and community.

Qué distingue a esta propiedad

The property offers a variety of unique niches indoors and out which create a truly special atmosphere. You can relax in the hot tub on the back deck or take a short stroll up to the pool nestled in the hillside. Multiple outdoor patios and decks provide perfect spots for dining w/ friends and family, unwinding, and soaking in the views.

The Lodge design was inspired by Adirondack and Aspen ski lodges. Indoors you will discover our stunning great room, cozy reading nooks, and our favorite little window filled room upstairs that we call the "treehouse room" that's looks out to the back deck, the large pine trees and the rest of the hillside. The home office and library offer 2 spaces for focused work or reflection. There's also a desk upstairs in one of the master suites for further privacy.
You can listen to the soothing sound of the stream just outside your window after it rains. On chilly nights or even cool rainy evenings in the spring or summer you will enjoy gathering around the fireplace in both the great room and the dining room. For outdoor enthusiasts, a private trail up at the top of the property leads into the woods ,and the Granite Mountain Preserve hiking trails are just a short walk away. Additionally, Fahnestock Memorial State Park is only 15 minutes away and the Hudson Highlands are about 25 mins away which provide even more opportunities for adventure.
