Fantastic in every way
I'll keep this short and sweet - we loved it! We have been going to the Big Island almost annually (minus COVID) for about 15 years. We have mainly stayed in Waikoloa and enjoyed that, but for the past couple of years have come to Mauna Lani. This condo has been the best we have stayed for a couple of reasons. First, the location at the Mauna Lani in general and more specifically in the Fairways complex is really nice. Mauna Lani offers a great combination of shopping convenience along with neat little beaches including the owners Beach Club and historic Hawaiian sites. This complex sits in the middle of it all and the unit itself stands out because of its west facing aspect with open views out across the 12th hole of the golf course (far enough away not to be affected by what appeared to be some errant golf shots!), with beautiful sunsets over the palm trees in the distance. Second, we have never stayed in a unit so well appointed. The furniture and fixtures are all first class, and is stocked with EVERYTHING you need to make your vacation straightforward and enjoyable. I can't think of one thing that we needed that this condo didn't have, quite frankly. Nice pool in the complex as well, although be forewarned that per the rules kids under 8 are not allowed in the hot tub (not even with an adult) but that is the only flaw I can think of (flaw for us maybe a positive for others!). Again, we loved the unit and love the Big Island!


While the Big Island is always incredible, our recent trip to Mauna Lani was truly one of the best because of our gorgeous accommodations in Jan's Fairway condo. The pictures and descriptions can't capture the quality, ambiance and location of this property. The accommodations are well decorated with attention to detail (pictures, furniture, kitchen amenities, electronics including TV, Music, etc) and you truly feel like you are at a 'home away from home'. Jan helped with the details of our stay and so many great suggestions for the surrounding area including food, beaches and activities. We've been to Mauna Lani many times without our children and the condo proved to be a perfect combination of luxury and location. Truly a paradise made even better by the accommodations and hospitality!

LET US SPOIL YOU IN OUR NEWLY DECORATED HOME IN A HAWAIIAN PARADISE. Porcelain tile floors throughout the downstairs, granite & stainless kitchen stocked with the gourmet chef in mind. We have a Viking gas barbecue on the lanai. Sit on your lovely lanai and look across at the 12th hole on the Mauna Lani golf course.

For our guests who want to REMAIN CONNECTED, there is WI-Fi internet access throughout the house. 3 TVs, including a 55 inch smart tv and Streaming Ne-Flix. We also have a sound bar set-up in our living room so you can bring your favorite music.

For our guests who are WORKING REMOTELY while vacationing, we can help you with your multi-tasking with a HOME OFFICE FOR YOUR USE. Just bring your computer or tablet. We can supply high speed fiber optic internet, printer/copier, calculator and consumable supplies for your use.

WE HAVE THE TOP LOCATION AT THE FAIRWAYS AT MAUNA LANI. From the downstairs lanai look out towards the 12th hole fairway of the Mauna Lani golf course about 75 yards away. Look 200 yards across at the beautiful homes of Puoaia. Listen to birdsong every morning as they call to each other across the lava and perch in the beautiful Heliotrope trees outside our lanai. Best of all, prepare your favorite libation and pupus so you can sit on the lanai toasting to the end of a tropical day while watching the sunset each evening. Perhaps if you are lucky, you will see the green flash.

YOU WON'T ARRIVE TO AN EMPTY CUPBOARD. We cheerfully provide basic staples. You won't arrive and find 1 roll of toilet paper at our house or just a salt and pepper shaker in the guest food cabinet. If you are a new visitor to our island, let us be your remote concierge. We collect many suggestions about restaurants and excursions that we are happy to pass on to you.

Our guests have SPECIAL ACCESS TO THE HOMEOWNERS BEACH club that includes a full service restaurant and cabanas along the beach. This is a wonderful snorkeling area for beginners and veteran snorkelers.

Stroll to the world famous Orchid hotel for evening poupus or walk to our nearby shopping center for a morning coffee at our neighborhood cafe. Everything you need is at your fingertips for a relaxing vacation experience

A beautiful place in a great location

An absolutely lovely home, perfectly appointed. The furniture was comfortable, the kitchen amazing. We grilled and cooked in most nights. It was surprisingly private and quiet for being in a sixplex, and the view was out back away from other units. Beautiful grounds, with a great pool, and we were a very short drive from anything we needed. There were lots of opportunities around for hikes, beach visits, and shopping. Thank you for hosting us!

We had a wonderful time at the villa. An absolute gem!!!

We loved everything about this property! The location was perfect- tucked in at the back of the complex, facing the ocean (just beyond the golf course, but you know it’s there ;), in between the Fairmont and Auberge, so you can enjoy a drink or dinner easily at either breathtaking resort, and close to some of the best beaches on the island. Having a beach pass to the Mauna Lani Beach Club was a must! It was a gem of a beach and so perfect for little kids. The house was immaculate and fully stocked, which we so appreciated if you’re planning on doing some cooking. We really hope to stay here again. It had more than everything we needed for our Hawaiian dream vacation. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us, Jan!

Wonderful stay

We had a great time at the Big Island while staying at Jan’s place. The home is really beautiful and everything we needed was provided. The kitchen is very well equipped and having beach chairs, beach towels, umbrella and boogie boards available made beach outings easy. The location within the Fairways is excellent, beautiful views from the Lanai and easy pool access. We also really enjoyed having access to the Beach Club in Mauna Lani. Highly recommend and hope we can return one day.

NOVEMBER REUNION

My sons and I thoroughly relaxed at Jan's 3 BR condo. It is well maintained, located on the western edge of the Fairways complex, overlooking the fairway, and in earshot of the surf. The owners are extremely responsive and have taken time to think through all the details to make their property user friendly and turnkey. We would recommend their property without hesitation.

Luxurious & Charming !

This home is outstanding. It was truly the highlight of our trip on Big Island. With two kids, we pretty much stayed in one place, watercolor painting on the beautiful lanai, swimming in the resort pool, and enjoying meals at home. This home feels like your best friend invited you to their house and made sure you had everything you needed and more to feel at home. Jan, this is obviously a passion of yours! We couldn’t even find a speck of dirt in any forgotten corner. Plentiful supplies abounded, and we slept like angels on the beds. Garage had tons of extra gear for swimming snorkeling beach days and kids play.

Exceptional Property

This is our second visit to Mauna Lani Fairways and first time in Jan’s condo and it was a truly exceptional property. There is true pride in ownership that is reflected in the quality of furniture, decor, linens, kitchen ware & beach gear. The owners thought of absolutely everything and were generous with amenities and starters such as coffee pods, Mac nuts and condiments. The private beach club is perfect with cabanas and chaise and great snorkeling. We personally love Hapuna and the Shave Ice truck and shops in Kawaihae. We will most certainly be back. Thank you so much for a wonderful spring break!

Outstanding Muana Lani Townhome

Everything was in order and working well. We appreciate that as other properties we have stayed in had issues with entry, no propane, lack of basic items, etc. This home was completely ready to go! Another Incredible Big Island Visit at Fairway Villas!

We've now stayed in Jan and Michael's town five times. We love the property because it delivers on so many fronts. The condo is in beautiful shape with prime appliances including a Viking BBQ and new X large refrigerator and new dishwasher. We love the amenities including the black bottom swimming pool/spa within 50 yard walk and access to the incredible Mauna Lani Beach Club. Add that to discounts at the Mauna Lani golf courses, a nearby shopping center with Tommy Bahamas and Ruth's Chris you can't go wrong. We love the Big Island and being away from crowds - if that sounds good and you like the warmth of a home away from home you can't go wrong with #1703!

Amazing, family-friendly stay!

We absolutely loved this gem of a condo. Nice and quiet (I imagine any in this complex would be, except right by the pool maybe). The pool is so great and family friendly. Nice and chill...no "scene" and always a free chair. This condo is super well appointed by something that ACTUALLY cooks! They have most seasonings and condiments that you need to make most things - such a huge help while traveling and saves a ton of wasted food and $. Everything about the condo was super nice, clean and comfortable. My only complaint was that the beds could be more comfortable (felt like a firm, low-end mattress to all of us) and the condo was too hot at night upstairs (and the temperature was difficult to change because of the automated settings). We slept okay despite this, but it's the only thing keeping me from wanting to rebook the place immediately.

Like a high end hotel!

This condo far exceeded our expectations. The pictures on the VRBO website do not do this place justice. I felt like we were living in a high-end hotel. The furnishings, art, linens, appliances, etc were exceptional. The kitchen was extremely well stocked. Even the supplied amount of toilet paper and paper towels were more than we needed for the week. The beach chairs, beach towels, umbrella, boogie boards, insulated coolers, etc made our beach trips very comfortable. The Beach Club private beach was amazing and we really appreciated the private parking lot. The snorkeling off this beach was wonderful. Jan and Michael's attention to detail was so far and above any other VRBO rental we have used in the past. We really liked staying in this area of the island. It was much quieter than Kona proper. The only down side of this area of the island is that the Foodland grocery store closes at 7pm. We were not aware of this and our arrival after that time meant we could not shop for breakfast foods for the next day. Luckily, we discovered the Sunday brunch buffet at the Mauna Lani Auberge Resort--pricey but wonderful! I wish we had stayed longer than a week in this condo!

All The Comforts of Home

There was a bit of a mix up between what VRBO sent us as a confirmation (unit#1703) and the actual unit we reserved when we arrived so I would double check with Jan to ensure you are at the correct unit. The check in instructions from VRBO were also incorrect regarding the main gate code, etc. But once we got that straightened out, the house was exactly as it was pictured. The bedrooms were tastefully furnished, the kitchen was actually well stocked with lots of dishes, utensils, pots, etc. There were plenty of extra linens and cleaning supplies as well. We did not spend that much time in the house during the day but our evenings were very quiet and relaxing. The house is close to the main grocery store so it was convenient to hop over there to pick up items to make dinner. Foodland also has a pretty good takeout section too but there is an outdoor grill and patio at the house which made for a nice cookout a couple nights. All in all, it felt like we had all the amenities of being at home with the tv, internet, stocked kitchen, ample parking, air conditioning, grill etc but we were in Hawaii with the ocean and warm breeze and aloha spirit surrounding us. It is very quiet and peaceful and away from most of the crowds that are a couple exits over at Waikoloa Village. I would recommend this unit to families as there is ample room to spread out, and we are bookmarking the unit for future stays to the Big Island with our two teenage daughters. Comfortable townhouse in great location

We spent 11 nights at this nicely decorated and very comfortable townhouse. We are frequent visitors to Hawaii, and this was one of my favorites - and I'm prett picky. The house is exactly as advertised. The great room was very comfortable, and the kitchen was large and very well stocked. The master bedroom & bathroom are HUGE and very comfy. The bedrooms upstairs were good for my teen girls. However, the twin beds were extra hard and uncomfortable and the ceiling fan in the queen bedroom is really loud. We had issues with the blinds thought the house either not opening smoothly or having slats fall out of them that we'd then need to put back. The valances are stuck to the wall with adhesive and one fell off when we were watching tv. What elevated this from just a standard rental is the extras. We were left butter, hummus, milk and some fruit in addition to the nicely stocked guest pantry. I bought mayo, ketchup and bbq sauce that I didn't end up opening because they had already provided it. There was a nice selection of beach towels, chairs, floaties plus 2 boogie boards. The pool is a 3 minute walk away, and was often empty during the day. The Mauna Lani beach club was a nice perk, although the beach chairs and loungers there are in pretty bad shape. We loved being so close to shopping centers, especially the very well stocked (and reasonably priced) Woodland. Jan was very helpful and responsive. We honestly felt like we were her houseguests instead of renters. She seems like a very nice lady. The only concern we had was about the AC. We didn't feel this was a big enough issue to deduct a full star, but we would have deducted half a star if that was an option. The doors and windows had sensors on them so that if we opened a door or window, the AC would turn off. As a homeowner, I understand completely why they'd do that but as a renter, it was a bit annoying. If my husband opened a door to get a breeze downstairs, the upstairs bedrooms would get unbearably hot. Also, the AC would often turn itself off or change our temperature setting to something higher. The restriction to not cool below 75 degrees did not end up being a problem I though it might be, though. Jan explained why they had the restrictions and again, as a homeowner, I get it. However, I would rather pay a bit more per night and be able to decide what temperature is comfortable for me.

My father fell in love with Hawaii while working here in the 1960s. It became my parent's very favorite vacation destination. I have wonderful memories of vacationing on the Big Island with my entire family which soon included my own children too. I was grateful to be able to purchase our home away from home in 2006. Now my husband and I can pass on the legacy of family times in Hawaii to our grandchildren.
As our guest, you will be provided with the same spirit of Aloha that we have enjoyed in this beautiful area.

You will feel very welcomed in our vacation home. If you are vacationing with your special partner, you will enjoy our large first floor master surrounded by lawn and outsized bathroom. Soak in your own jacuzzi tub or experience our large walk in shower with multiple jets.
If you're coming with friends, they will enjoy the privacy of an upstairs location. There's plenty of room for the children too, with a third bedroom furnished with twin bed.
If you wish to bring the family, there is all sorts of beach equipment - boogie boards, sand toys, coolers, chairs, umbrellas and beach towels.
Everyone will enjoy wi-fi, cable tv with streaming amazon, and a lending library drawer to choose your beach read.
You will enjoy the parklike spaciousness between units. The townhouse design avoids neighbors above or the neighbors below and you will never be bothered by noise from the neighbors next door. You will find our unit to have a good deal of privacy as we look across spacious lawn to distant units.

You can choose to have the relaxation of a lifetime in our wonderful home at Fairways or to be busy 24/7. Spend the day with a book on the beach gazing at the Pacific Ocean at our private beach club. Make a picnic, pack the cooler, bring the boogie boards, beach toys and hiking shoes and spend the day at the beach snorkeling, playing in the ocean and taking off from the beach to hike the fisherman's trail.

WORKING REMOTELY while vacationing? We can help you with multitasking with our home office available for your use. Just bring your computer or tablet. We have a printer/copier, calculator and consumable supplies for your use in our home office that features a fabulous view of Mauna Lani while you work.

Golf at our two beautiful courses and enjoy guest of owner rates.
Shop at the Mauna Lani shops, and have dinner at restaurants ranging from Four Season's grill, to Blue Dragon, and Bamboo. Eat at the restaurants right on property such as Tommy Bahama's or Ruth Chris Steak House.
Travel far afield. Hike the coast or the cool mountain trails, see the volcano flowing into the sea at night, enjoy a once in a lifetime experience of sunset at the top of 13,000 foot Mauna Lani, or learn about Hawaiian history at the City of Refuge.

Once back home, enjoy dinner on our lanai fixed with local food from our farmer's markets and fresh fish markets.
