Serene Stay in Overlooked Upcountry

So much to see and do up here. Winery, high quality coffee shops and restaurants are all within 15 mins. Not to mention a huge time savings driving to Haleakala and Hana. Many farms to tour from tequila to chocolate to honey and friendly people everywhere. Speaking of which, our host Lori left us wanting for nothing with laundry service and the best pantry we’ve seen hands down. The sunset walks down Thompson Road were our favourite with the island on full display below you. Much Aloha in Upcountry.

Great little spot in the Upcountry

Lori's B&B was perfect for our family of 3. The views from this part of the island are absolutely stunning. A bit of a drive if you're going to be in West Maui or driving the full Road to Hana, but we loved being out of the resort areas and the privacy Lori's place provided. Lori is a gracious hostess and delivered on her promise to have our breakfast choices provided, even replenishing our juice when it ran low. Having a bottle of wine and beer of choice chilling in the refrigerator on the day of arrival was a wonderful treat. If you're looking for a room with a small kitchenette a grill away from the busy tourist areas, this place is a true gem.

Quiet & Luxurious

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this VRBO location. The property was well maintained, very clean and luxurious. We loved spending time on the outside patio as well. Lori provided excellent service, quality and attention to detail! We appreciated her Aloha Spirit through and through. Mahalo & A Hui Hou!

Location and personal service

A great location for accessing the north and south shores and of course the Maui upcountry right in the back yard. Lori was a wonderful host with attention to details and selections of treats and beverages. Easy and fast access when communicating any time we had a question. Will definitely be coming back! Aloha.

A Hidden Oasis on the Island

Stay here! The location is a little off the beaten path, but let's be honest, you'll be driving the Road to Hana anyway (If you are looking to do the back half of the Road to Hana, this location is great for an early start going counter-clockwise [stop at Grandma's Coffee House]). The drive to Kahului, Lower Paia, Kihei, and the vistas on the way are all worth it. Please, stay here and enjoy the retreat. My fiancé and I stayed here for four nights on the first half of a trip to Maui with my parents before their arrival, and if we could have stayed here the whole time, we both agree we would have. Lori was kind, communicative, tidy, and made us feel like we were family. Our pantry was stocked, the grill was always ready for us to use when we made breakfast in the cool morning breeze, the cozy space was spruced up when we left in a hurry in the mornings to explore Kula and Keokea and the rest of Maui. At the higher altitude, mornings & evenings are comfortably cool, allowing you to keep your windows open and enjoy a breeze, no air conditioning required (November visit). The upcountry areas are rich with history, people, culture, and explorable areas. Pukalani, Makawao, and Paia all provided unique places to discover outside of the well-traversed Kihei. While we were here, we found several locations for Live Music (all genres), creative spaces & studios, distilleries & wineries, local theatre, & lesser social-media'd but still incredible food. Thank you again, Lori!

Gorgeous upcountry gem

Keokea is truly a magical place, and Lori’s jewel is an oasis in an ideal location for those who want a quiet, peaceful spot away from the tourist crowds. Every need was taken care of, including some I didn’t think of (she has truly thought of *everything*) and I had a wonderful week. Highly recommended!

Quaint Cottage

Lori is an excellent host who provides more accessories than you have ever received at a VRBO…the one room cottage (with separate bath) feels expansive with a large and well appointed lanai…full of orchids by the way. Excellent upcountry location!

Guest suite with lovely patio

Nice well managed guest suite. Lori treats her guests better than in any hotel! Comfy mattress! Lots of snacks/ treats! Nice outdoor patio to enjoy for meals. Location was perfect for us, away from crowds and beaches, closer to volcano park.

We were astonished at the level of service that was offered. "Full service" included daily laundry and cleaning. The beautiful studio apartment was stocked with a variety of foods that we enjoyed. The private outdoor area provided a place to relax. The location was far removed from the crowded resort areas, so we were better able to enjoy the natural environment of Maui. The Kula Botanical Gardens were nearby, as was Grandma's Coffee House. At 3000 feet elevation, this Upcountry location was in the perfect climatic zone. A walk around the neighborhood afforded views of Maalaea Bay.

Nice place for a refurbished garage

The room is nice and there are positive amenities. No HVAC unit or even a small fire place so it gets pretty cold in January at night. Owner is nice but does move personal belongings around and seems a little OCD about where items, windows, etc. “have to go”. Wouldn’t stay again but it is nice for a couple nights.

Perfect mountain escape.

Lori is an absolute pleasure. The unit is tucked in the perfect spot. Upcountry is the way to go to visit the island. Easy access to most of the island without feeling stuck I. The middle of a tourist trap. Go barefoot in the unit. The rugs are soft. Make a cup of coffee and catch the sunrise views. Poor a glass of wine and catch sunset. You'll never tire of the views from around the neighborhood. 10 out of 10.

Upcountry bliss

Where to start? Lori has put so much thought and effort into creating a space where you can relax and enjoy the serenity of all that upcountry has to offer. The private patio entry with beautiful orchids, comfy furniture, gas stove and cooking amenities was the perfect place to prepare and enjoy breakfast every morning in the cool upcountry air. Lori being the ultimate host stocked the pantry with so many goodies we didn’t need to go shopping - it was all there! Inside the unit: so clean and cozy. Big king bed + smaller foldout futon for a child (or a shorter adult like my niece). No air conditioning but you don’t need it since you’re in the cool upcountry air. I’m not sure why but I didn’t experience any mosquitos which was fantastic! It’s summer now so we brought in a fan from in-laws when coming back from a day of adventuring and set it at the open doorway in the evening to quickly circulate the warm air out. In retrospect we could’ve simply asked Lori for this but didn’t want to bother her. Bathroom stocked with anything you need for shower or relaxing bath. Towels for bath provided as well as for beach. Beach toys, boogie board, umbrella, chairs provided as well. Lori was just a quick text away and so responsive I felt like if there was something we needed we could just ask her and she would accommodate us. The neighborhood was so quiet with little to no car traffic. My niece’s favorite thing to do was walk 2 minutes down the street and to the left to enjoy the spectacular upcountry sunsets. Even my wife who grew up in Kula commented on how gorgeous the view was. Even if we didn’t have family in Kula to hang out with my mom would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you Lori for providing such a wonderful environment to enjoy upcountry beauty. ❤️

Pampered Upcountry

Our host Lori pampered us during our relaxing 9 day stay at this Upcountry Maui apartment. Situated just below the Haleakala cloud ceiling the area is lush and agricultural. The summit is just over an hour away. You will not find a cleaner place anywhere. 5 stars for cleanliness is not enough. Lori tries hard to see that the apartment is stocked with whatever you may need. Fresh towels and laundry service every day. Just come and enjoy Maui and the Upcountry view of the island. She tries to maximize your vacation time. Thank You So Much Lori! K&B

FULL SERVICE PARADISE!!!

Lori’s paradise is a true JEWEL! As soon as you enter into her property, you feel in peace with your surroundings. The outside area is designed and decorated as if you were asked to relax into a lounge chair after a very expensive spa… Every detail has been thought through so you can relax and take either your breakfast, lunch or dinner and enjoy the beauty of the mountains. When you enter into the room, every piece of furniture is elegant and has its purpose. The pantry is full of good food that Lori makes sure to fill with your favorite food or drinks every day. As for the bathroom, it is also amazingly well decorated and has everything you can dream of for bath or shower. Very nice bathrobe and slippers are provided to enjoy every moments spent at Lori’s guest house. Lori is so attentive to all your needs, she makes sure you are truly enjoying your vacation into her guest house and does not want to do ANYTHING!!! No washing of any kind, she takes care of everything… FULL SERVICE PARADISE!!! Plus Lori put in our disposition all the things you need to enjoy the beach! My husband and I enjoyed every moment at Lori’s house and were sad to leave the place. The mountains are beautiful and the sunset is to die for! We were so glad to have met Lori and her little paradise. Hope we can see her again when she visits New York! I would highly recommend Lori’s paradise to friends and family!

Fantastic Stay and Launch Point for Cycling

Hands down the best stay I've had at any property. Lori was an amazing host in every way. We really enjoyed this area of the island, specifically for cycling. Great rides straight out the front door, easy access to the volcano, and perfect cooler weather. We would happily stay again and look forward to seeing Lori in the future!!
