* Where we met, a gelato stand in summer and coffee shop in winter
* A post office to send those postcards of Tahoe
* Sugar Pine Point State Park, with the mansion to tour, a lovely beach, gift shop and lovely lawn.
* A pier across the highway where you can catch a sunrise over the lake in the wee hours.
* Marie Sluchak Community Park with a playground, a par course, BBQ pits, a stage, auditorium seating, and a dance floor where you can catch a local band or watch a movie in the summer months.
* Trails all all around the West Shore
* Paved bicycle paths along Highway 89

When you're not exploring the great outdoors, enjoy the cabin's array of entertainment options, including a smart TV, a DVD player, a sound system, and a selection games for adults and children alike.

Freshen up in the two bathrooms, complete with towels and basic toiletries, and feel free to use the in-unit washer and dryer.

Then there is the yard. The cabin sits on 4 lots - three of them covered with trees, and in the winter, with plenty of snow for kids and dogs to romp and play!

Por qué eligió esta propiedad

We purchased our cabin in 1979 because we loved to ski, and soon discovered that Tahoe is wonderful in every season! We are very attached to our little neighborhood and lived at Tahoe between years in San Francisco and Idaho.

We love the West Shore. We enjoy the sense of community and knowing our Tahoma neighbors. We can walk to cross-country tracks in Sugar Pine Point State Park as well as to Pine Lodge and the beach there. We like the stream profile at Taylor Creek and the beaches at D.L. Bliss State Park, Kiva Beach, Baldwin Beach, Pope Beach, and Chambers Landing. The Vikingsholm at the end of Emerald Bay and Valhalla are also favorites.

Winter gives us a wonderland of snow with lots of area for play. In the spring, our yard near Oak Street blooms with many wild flowers. In summer, our own community park is a great spot to have a picnic while the kids enjoy the playground equipment, or listen to one of our local bands play a concert at the outdoor stage. It is wonderful to be within walking distance of the lake, a grocery store and deli, a few restaurants, the post office, a gelato and espresso place, and a state park.
Nearby, is a short hike to the top of Eagle Rock for a bird's eye view of the lake. One can attend the summer festivals, winter's Snowfest, drive around Emerald Bay, poke around the Vikingsholm and Valhalla, check out the salmon in the stream profile at Taylor Creek, take a nature walk at DL Bliss State Park, hike up to the tarns above Emerald Bay, horseback ride in Alpine Meadows or Camp Richardson, visit the hot springs in Nevada, enjoy the quiet fall season as the Aspen trees turn, explore near-by towns of Reno, Virginia City, Pyramid Lake, Tahoe City and Truckee, and enjoy great snow skiing with fabulous lake views and fun Apres Ski events. Above all, enjoy the beauty and peacefulness of the lake and the mountains!

Qué distingue a esta propiedad

Our cabin sits on a parcel of 4 lots covering a bit over ½ acre, surrounded by open forest space. We have a great collection of literature about Tahoe: the birds, the trees, the flowers, wildflower hikes, trails, dog beaches and parks. Also, books about Tahoe's colorful history, and tall tales about the lake and its former inhabitants. There are several spots to curl up with a book and good lighting to read!

You'll notice the influence of my Norwegian, Swedish and Swiss heritage in our library as well as the decor. Our wood-burning stove provides warmth and ambiance. The open living-dining-kitchen area makes hosting easy. Our bedrooms accommodate a variety of families.

We welcome families with young children, and have a crib, potty seat, foot stools, kid-size chairs, a high chair, children's games, lots of bedtime story books and a library of Disney movies and other beloved classic movies for kids to watch on the wide screen TV in the back bedroom, or the living room.

Our kitchen is separated from the living area by an island, which makes it easy for the cook and chat with the other occupants...or get them involved with the kitchen. It is well equipped with many appliances, cake pans and pie plates, a cupboard of cook books, and all sizes of pots and pans.

Our decks on three sides extend living space into the outdoors. I love the wonderful smell of the forest, the lovely summer temperatures, our yard with Incense Cedars, Jeffrey, Sugar, and Lodge Pole Pines, White and Red Firs and Alders. We find Ponderosa Pines on the easy walk to Sugar Pine Point State Park along the quiet West Shore. We can pick up the Sunday paper at the Tahoma Market, eat breakfast on the front deck while watching the world go by, walk our dog in the neighborhood and chat with our neighbors, watch old movies, invite friends over to visit while we're in town, or enjoy the quiet of the forest in the winter while skiing from the cabin door to the x-c tracks at Sugar Pine.
