Luxury 17th Century Farmhouse Holiday Rental on the Banks of River Dordogne

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review and feedback. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed the charm of the house, the swimming pool and, especially, the playroom. We are sorry that you felt the cleanliness was not up to the standard expected. The house is a very large 17th-century property with many rooms and plenty of character, and we work hard to ensure it is thoroughly cleaned before every arrival. We have not previously received complaints about cobwebs or general cleanliness, so we were disappointed to hear this. Nevertheless, we take your comments seriously and will raise them with our cleaning team. Before your arrival, we also emailed to explain that the property is an old house and asked you to let us know immediately if you encountered any problems, so that we could address them as quickly as possible. Had we been made aware of the cleaning issues during your stay, we would have been very happy to arrange for the cleaners to return. Regarding the air conditioning, our listing clearly states "master bedroom air con unit, large double & twin have portable air con units. The 3 other bedrooms have fans", rather than central air conditioning. We always aim to make the facilities clear so guests know what to expect. We take great pride in offering a large, historic home with a lovely pool and extensive facilities, while providing what we believe is very good value for money. Thank you again for your feedback.

We are sorry that you feel that way about the house and have only ever had 4 or 5 star reviews in all the years we have rented our house to travellers from all over the world. We have never once had a complaint about stained bed linen and our Property Manager assures us it was clean, but if she had missed anything we would have happily changed it if we had been notified. The house is roadside, we have not hidden this fact as it is a country lane and has very little traffic, again we have never had a complaint about road noise and we have never found this to be a problem when staying ourselves. It has a high hedge, wrought iron fencing and electric gates to a private drive, so is also not overlooked and very private. It also looks over beautiful vineyards the other side of the lane. We do however agree that there was a problem with the pool heating and our gardener/pool man did not get this sorted in time for your visit as it was more complicated than an easy fix. It is now repaired and we apologise this was not remedied during your visit. For this reason we were happy to compensate you for your inconvenience with the pool, but when our Property Manager arrived at the house for the next changeover unfortunately she noticed in the main upstairs bathroom the walls had been badly damaged, we will have to have this replastered and redecorated. I’m happy to send dated photos to your private email. We felt it was unfair to withhold your deposit because of the problems you had with the pool.
