Idiot's Hill Guest House

Our guest house is in the heart of Denton, a block east of the Bell Avenue Historic District, with all the amenities to make your time in Denton relaxing and meaningful. This private, smoke and pet free retreat offers natural light and your own designated parking spot. Stay within two miles of UNT, TWU and the unique Denton Square. You will enjoy unique features that will make you feel at home including a stocked kitchen and a record player with music from local Denton bands.

The Idiot's Hill Guest House is surrounded by established trees and lots of natural light. The kitchen is well supplied for your time in Denton with an oven/stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, coffee pot, washer/drier and kitchen utensils. We have fast wifi and a Roku for netflix, hulu or any subscriptions you have.

When its time for bed you will enjoy our queen size bed with 400 thread count sheets, as well as a brand new pull out sleeper sofa with upgraded foam mattress.

Denton is famous for many gifted musicians who have come through their nationally acclaimed Jazz program, and you can listen to some selected albums on our record player.

We look forward to providing you with a list of some of our favorite local restaurants and establishments.

You will have full access to the private and detached guest house. You have your own driveway which leads down a lighted path on the side of the house leading to the guest house. You will be sent the code for the lock prior to your arrival. You will have private access to all aspects of the guest house including the Living Room, Bedroom, Full Bathroom, Dining Area, Kitchen, as well as a laundry area complete with a washer and dryer. As we live in the main house in front with our children, you will not have access to the backyard.

We will not clean during your stay. We will leave you with a basic set of cleaning supplies for your use during your stay.

University-area Haven

Perfect for 1 or 2 couples needing to stay close to the University or access some of the Denton area attractions and events. The neighborhood is nice and quiet and the Hosts are polite and friendly. Highly recommend!

This was a wonderful place to stay. Dates of stay were May15-17th. Perfect area of town. Nice and quiet. We enjoyed it and would stay there again.

Will stay again

Overall my stay was excellent. There were a couple of things I’d suggest for future - the ice maker didn’t work and the shower was a little mildewed (I know how it is in the south!). These weren’t anything to complain about and I plan to use if available for future trips. Just thought I’d mention it in case they can be taken care of. I will be recommending to my sister and my brother-in-law for when they visit their son in Denton. Was a very restful place to stay and the owners were great!

Second visit to this peaceful place

I needed a place to stay between two events and this was a perfect retreat! It was quiet and I got to work on a project in peace. I could have walked to several places for groceries or food. It also worked great for when my son joined me the second night- be aware that the bathroom is in the bedroom if that is an issue for you. Thanks again for my quiet getaway!

Lovely retreat

We stayed here for s quiet getaway to have a reading retreat and this place was perfection. Quiet neighborhood, lots of couch space to relax on and read, a well stocked kitchen to cook in and they left a fantastic information manual with lots of great places around the area to eat and visit. Will definitely be back to do this again on an annual basis.

Great place close to the heart of Denton

It was a short test to take a test at UNT. This place is walking distance to all the great places in the historical part of Denton. The place is cute and cozy. I highly recommend it.

Great stay!

We had a wonderful stay! The area was nice and super convenient, making it easy to explore and get around. The rental comfortably slept three of us, thanks to the pull-out couch bed, which was a great feature. The only reason I didn’t give cleanliness a full five stars is due to some dust on the ceiling fan and blinds, but otherwise, everything was in great shape. One standout was the thoughtful welcome packet with food recommendations—we tried a few spots, and they were fantastic! Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely stay here again. Highly recommend!

We will Return!

Loved our weekend stay here to check it out for a long-term stay. Ron & Jenny are great hosts. The neighborhood is great and very convenient to many restaurants and shopping. (Even though most were closed due to COVID-19!!) Their place is very roomy and well laid out. We will be returning!!

Cute little place with everything you need!

The guest house was exactly what we needed for a 3-night stay in Denton for a family wedding. Perfect amount of space for 2 adults and our two 7-year-olds. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook a few meals and enjoy tea and coffee. The host even left some waters and snacks! They messaged us several times to be sure we had everything we needed. We'd stay here again for sure!

The property was perfect for our 2-night stay. The bathroom connected to the bedroom worked just fine for our group. The pull-out couch could sleep two people, but we also brought an air mattress for additional sleeping space, which worked great! The place was beautifully decorated and thoughtfully stocked with games, complimentary snacks, and a record player—a unique and fun touch.We gave cleanliness 4 stars due to the sink draining slowly during extended use, such as face washing, and the shower grout needing a deeper scrubbing. However, the rest of the space was spotless, with no dust in sight. The hosts were welcoming and accommodating. We would happily stay here again if in the area!
