If your looking for that special holiday retreat, the great escape, in a chill-out zone, you have found it. The property can be approached via a 250 metre driveway with far reaching views of The Pyrenees. Through the iron gates It stands proud and slightly elevated, reaching the courtyard which has ample parking for several vehicles.
The farmhouse is on 2 levels, served by 2 staircases. Entrance door to a large split level sitting room with a central wood burning stove. Via a lobby a downstairs bedroom with an adjacent full bathroom. A staircase leads to a bed and seating area which then leads onto the master bedroom and full ensuite. Through the farmhouse kitchen and dining room a second staircase leads to 2 bedrooms , one with king size bed and the other room has two single beds. There is a separate shower room, toilet and hand basin.
Outside space offers fantastic unrestricted views from the pool and terrace area, with large palm trees and giant banana plants, creating a tropical exotic feel to this idyllic tranquil spot. The large 12m x 5m swimming pool is set in a walled sun-trap garden which has ample sun loungers and umbrellas. There is a large rustic feature canopy with seating and dining for 8-10 people, offering adequate shade for those scorching summer days. There is an additional area with gas BBQ. coal BBQ and gas plancha for AL Fresco Dining, music system and seating for 6-10 people on the terrace. A tranquil water feature adds to the relaxing ambience of this area, a great place to meditate. There is a full size Table Tennis Table for use on the sun terrace also our guests can enjoy the games-room and gymnasium equipment. The gym has a standard sized pool table and various gym machines within. Please note that all equipment is used at guests own risk.

Lovely gite in rural location. Very peaceful and well equipped. Pool was lovely, pictures dont do it justice! Was very hot when we were there - 35-40 degrees - so didnt do much, but recomend the white water rafting at orthez.

What a find!!!!

If you want peace and tranquillity this is for you! The wildlife was just fantastic, watching the swifts give such a display by the pool, and a very close display of kites and buzzards as the farmer was cutting the grass - just incredible. Most mornings we saw the dear/s in the lower fields. And of course the little bat that decided he would sleep under the wooden terrace during the day. The farmhouse is set in a lovely rural location with spectacular 180 ° views, so wonderful we shared our early morning coffee with them. I am going to miss that first hour so much. The farmhouse is rustic with typical Bearnaise features. Pre supper drinks outside were the order of the day, even when watching the 360° storms. Phillip and his daughter were so helpful, although they live in the adjoining house were not intrusive. They were on hand at all times, should we have needed anything. They really were great hosts, and very respectful of our privacy. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Georgina was brilliant, and came to the rescue when I was picking roses and the wasps decided to sting me. We were invited to partake of the fruits growing in the garden and the herbs on the terrace. This was wonderful for me as I like to cook & bake. I picked the ‘small wild yellow plums’ to bring home for jam making 😊. I will bring a pot back for you next year. Thank you all for making our stay comfortable, easy and so very very relaxing.

Could be 5 stars, if it was given a thorough cleaning.

This house has fantastic potential. Set in a lovely rural location, there are gorgeous views from the front and side of the property. However, St. Medard is really only a hamlet, and the nearest village is 20 mins drive but if you're looking for peace and tranquillity, you will not be disappointed. The house itself is large and very well-equipped. We had ample room for our large family (2 adults, 5 teenagers and 2 children), with 4 good sized bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms, as well as a toilet. One small point worth mentioning though is that the mezzanine area above one of the bedrooms is not available, as the ladders had been removed, which the owners stated was due to safety concerns. This was not a problem though as we still had plenty of space and Kirsty offered us additional bedding if necessary. All bed linen was clean and fresh and there were plenty of towels for showering as well as use by the pool. There is a large pool outside which we had for our private use. The pool was clean and well-maintained and when there was a problem with the pool, Philip fixed it immediately. The one negative comment is that when we arrived the house was filthy. Although Kirsty claimed that people had stayed there recently, the house was really musty, with cobwebs and dust everywhere. There were small brown pellets under the sofas and in the bathrooms, which Kirsty claimed were wood lice, but were in fact some kind of animal droppings. When we arrived, the dishwasher was full of mouldy dishes and we had to clean all the dishes we were intending to use beforehand. We spent the first day buying cleaning products, air freshness and making the house habitable. All of that said, Kirsty and Philip are a lovely couple and although they live in the adjoining house, they respected our privacy and were not at all intrusive. Kirsty was very helpful, with directions to the nearest shops and suggestions for various activities. My best advice to Philip and Kirsty is to get professional cleaners in to thoroughly clean the property and this could be an absolute goldmine. If the issue of cleanliness was sorted, I would happily give this property 5 stars.

Séjour magique dans cette belle maison ancienne. Nous avons passé un bon moment en famille.

Un cadre reposant dans une belle région. Nous avons adoré passer du temps dans cette belle maison rénovée avec goût. Le bal des hirondelles le soir autour de la piscine, quelques biches à proximité, tout était parfait. Nous avons passé de très bonnes vacances

Belle vacances malgré le problème de la langue mais nous nous sommes bien débrouillés malgré tout et les gérants sont très sympas. Pas assez d'isolation dans les chambres, il y fait très chaud. La piscine est géniale ainsi que les possibilités de déjeuner à côté. Un peu loin pour les courses et les visites. Merci pour tout!

Philipp et sa fille Georgina sont adorables. Ils ont été aux petits soins tout au long de notre quinzaine tout en restant super discrets. La maison est hyper confortable et idéale pour une grande famille. 👌

Family (all adults) holiday

This was the first holiday we've been able to have together for 3 years (mostly due to Covid). It was perfect as each couple (x3) had a separate bedroom/bathroom area for privacy. Plenty of sitting areas and dining inside as well – though in good weather not needed. Good internet provision. Peaceful area. We enjoyed star gazing at night. Also watching the swifts (?) lining up on the wires twice a day and swooping down to the pool for insects and a drink maybe. And the huge birds of prey and deer in the distance. One day it was particularly clear, and we got a good view of the Pyrenees from along the road. Outside area great for covered eating when the sun was shining or if the weather turns bad. Great outdoor cooking facilities – plancha, BBQ and especially the loan of the paella equipment! Pool lovely - large and clean - the robot was put in each morning before we were awake. Plenty of sun loungers and shaded or sunny places to sit all day. The younger adults enjoyed table tennis, darts and pool. Too chilled to use the gym equipment! Some nice bike rides were had, but not for the novice as very hilly. Liza and Phillip were great hosts – always willing to help and offer advice, yet discreet. If you want peace and quiet this is for you!

Superbe séjour en famille

Nous avons eu un très bon accueil de la part de Phillip et de Liza. Ils ont su être très discrets tout au long de notre séjour dans cet endroit très calme dans un cadre magnifique. L'intérieur de la maison est spacieux et la piscine est très appréciable avec un magnifique décor. L'ensemble est relativement bien adapté aux enfants notamment la piscine sécurisée. L'intérieur de la maison est un peu rustique, il y a beaucoup de tapis au sol ce qui nous semblent ne pas être adapté pour de la location.

Tranquille et plaisir!

Nous avons passé une semaine magnifique chez Phillip et Liza, l’environnement de la villa est parfait pour le repos, dans une campagne magnifique, sans voisins, avec une rivière à 500m. Les équipements sont au top : billard, fléchette, piscine immense, badminton, croquet, jeu gonflable pour la piscine, nos enfant étaient aux anges. Nous avons fait le séjour avec 2 personnes de plus de 80 ans et ça c’est très bien passé. Vraiment je recommande!

Prachtige locatie in het groen!

Prachtige locatie, heel rustig. Dus hou hier rekening mee als je iets wil zien moet je al snel een uurtje met de auto rijden. De verhuurders waren super vriendelijk, deden alles wat ze konden om ons een goed verblijf te geven. Echt een heel warme familie. Het zwembad in dit verblijf is echt super, heel groot en dit werd iedere dag gereinigd, dus hierop totaal geen opmerkingen. De woning zelf kon wel een goede poetsbeurt krijgen volgens ons, maar de bedden waren proper, wij waren er 14 dagen en na de eerste week hebben de eigenaars onze bedden komen verversen, dus weer een plus voor de eigenaars die hun gasten wel willen bekoren. Ook is er voldoende ruimte zowel binnen als buiten de woning. Wij hebben een leuke vakantie gehad en raden deze woning aan aan iedereen die echt wil genieten van de rust. Iemand die graag actie rond zich heeft raden we aan om toch naar een andere locatie te kijken. Wij willen ook de eigenaars nogmaals bedanken voor de goede zorgen.

Calme garanti

Nous avons particulièrement apprécié la prevance et la gentillesse de notre hôte ; par contre, nous aurions aimé plus de vaisselle( verres,couteaux,fourchettes, casseroles et poêles) Au.niveau de la propreté, nous avons trouvé, à notre arrivée, beaucoup de toiles d'araignées un peu partout. Pour ceux qui apprécient le calme , l'endroit est idéal : beau jardin, superbe piscine bien entretenue, plusieurs tables extérieures ..

Great time in the country side

We had a great time, the pool and the the house are huge. The hosts were really discreet but also always available for us. Located in the middle of the country side, it has the advantage of being extremly calm but in just 1h by car you can get to Bayonne, Mont-de-marsan or the pyrenees. Thank you very much for everything Liza and Phillip! :)

Parfait séjour au calme

Parfaitement adapté à nos attentes !

Une maison de caractère au milieu des champs beau paysage et calme absolu. Idéal groupe d’adultes avec enfants. Piscine parfaitement sécurisée et grande. Grand jardin clos. 4 belles chambres fermées + une en mezzanine sur le salon. En groupe chacun peut avoir son intimité. Hôte agréable et disponible mais très discret on en oublie sa présence à proximité.

Vakantie verblijf

Goed geregeld. Heerlijk gelegen rustig in de natuur met genoeg ruimte van kamers, wc’s en badkamers. Mooi zwembad, in de avond eten op de Bbq en de tafeltennis tafel kwam ook goed van pas. Het enige was dat het huis muffig rook maar dat zou ook kunnen door COVID dat het huis lang niet verhuurd is geweest.

Résidence parfaite pour une semaine autour de la piscine

Phillip et Liza ont été des hôtes discret mais attentifs à nos besoins même si la quasi-totalité était anticipée par leurs soins. L'espace dînatoire, piscine et salon sont très agréables et conçus pour que tout le groupe puisse en profiter. Merci pour cette semaine

Séjour au top dans un cadre magnifique

Nous avons séjourné avec un groupe d’amis dans la villa de Phillip et Liza. Leur accueil fut chaleureux et nous avons même eu droit à un panier de bienvenue à notre arrivée. Tout est fait pour que le séjour se passe au mieux, la piscine permet de se rafraîchir pendant les chaudes journées d’été, et les paysages sont incroyables. Nous n’y avons passé qu’une semaine mais nous aurions aimé y rester bien plus longtemps ! Thank you again to Phillip and Liza for these dream vacations.

Très bon séjour entre amis avec des enfants.

Très grande maison et très grande piscine. Des hôtes qui habitent juste à côté mais qui ont su être discrets, serviables et sympathiques. Les commerces sont éloignés mais la vue sur la campagne est magnifique.

Cadre magnifique et reposant

Nous avons loué la ferme de Monsieur Deighton pour 4 nuits. Nous étions 8 adultes et un petit enfant. L’accueil du propriétaire a été chaleureux. Nous venions de loin, avions roulé toute la journée et nous avons trouvé du pain sur la table et dans le frigidaire, du fromage, de la charcuterie et de la confiture. Nous avons eu la chance d’avoir une météo exceptionnelle et nous avons profité de toutes les installations. Notamment de la piscine qui est magnifique, propre et bien protégée pour empêcher tout souci de surveillance (grillage tout autour et deux portillons d'accès pouvant se verrouiller). On y trouve tous les jouets d’eau permettant à un enfant de s’amuser. Les extérieurs sont spacieux et la vue aux alentours est magnifique. Le coucher de soleil éclairant les Pyrénées est magique. Le lieu est certes un peu loin de tout mais idéal pour se reposer et profiter du calme et des bruits de la nature. La maison est très grande et comporte 3 coins nuit bien distincts avec salles de bain attenantes permettant à chacun d’avoir son indépendance, ce qui est très appréciable lorsque nous sommes nombreux. Le décor est rustique mais s’intègre bien dans le cadre. La literie fournie est propre et confortable et les chambres sont spacieuses. Les salles de bains sont pratiques. Un seul petit point négatif : le ménage des sols n’était pas parfait ; ce qui est certainement dû à la présence dans toutes les pièces d’immenses tapis peu appropriés à une location. Ce point ne nous a pas empêché de passer de très bons moments en famille dans cette belle maison. Si vous recherchez une demeure avec du cachet et de la personnalité (et au calme), avec une piscine de rêve rien que pour vous et à un tarif raisonnable, vous trouverez tout cela dans la propriété de Monsieur Deighton.
