Beach Front Cottage, warmest waters north of the Carolinas
We are centrally located! A great place to stay for a restful vacation, and/or as a starting off point to explore other parts of Nova Scotia such as Halifax and the south shore, the Bay of Fundy to the west, Cape Breton to the east, or PEI to the north (via the nearby ferry at Caribou). We still have the second half of October to accept new bookings.
Roomy and comfortable, perfect for a family vacation! Golden sand beach out front*. Fabulous views of the Northumberland Strait, including Pictou Island, the PEI ferry crossing, and sometimes even PEI itself. Three bedrooms that comfortably sleep six. One full & one half bathroom. Large eat-in kitchen. Separate living/dining room with vaulted ceiling. Enclosed front porch and new front deck for morning coffee. Big back deck for afternoon/evening BBQ. 10 minute drive to Melmerby Beach (best public beach in Nova Scotia), 15 minute drive to New Glasgow. 30 minute drive to the PEI ferry located at Caribou NS. 2 hour drive to downtown Halifax. Choice of 4 local golf courses (two 18 and two 9 hole). Cross-fit gym available in New Glasgow as well as a yoga studio and the Pictou County Wellness Center. Quiet local roads for cycling, and trails for hiking/biking. Attractions include the Museum of Industry in New Glasgow, and the deCoste Performing Arts Center in Pictou. Day trips include the town of Antigonish - you can could also continue east to access Cape Breton, the Cabot Trail, and Fortress Louisburg, or you could instead drive north around beautiful Cape George (the "little Cabot Trail") parts of which can actually be seen toward the east from the front deck of the Cottage itself!
* Depending on the severity of winter storms which can take away the beach sand (as in 2024), or bring it back again - we are right next to the ocean after all...
Please do not drive/park vehicles on the front lawn, where the septic field is located.
For your peace of mind: VRBO is the only third party website we use to rent the Cottage. ANY OTHER LISTING of the Cottage (aside from sister companies of VRBO) is not authorized, and could be fraudulent.

Staying here is always fabulous. The view from the dining room and the porch is beautiful. We love walking on the beach and going to nearby Melberly Beach. Comfortable beds.

We have been to this Cottage two separate times and are already planning our next trip back! The space is large and inviting with outstanding views of the Northumberland Strait from the comfort of the living area, screened in back porch and back deck. With the beach and water only steps away it really is the most convenient location. Everyone involved with our last trip just a few short weeks ago was so incredibly accommodating and welcoming. Traveling from the Philadelphia, PA area, I was able to find the address without an issue using my GPS app on my phone. Super clean and comfortable. Truly one of our favorites and look forward to seeing everyone again!

Great place to spend time. The accommodations are well maintained. We enjoy the quiet area and sitting in the sunroom with a coffee and a book. Communication with the host was excellent.

It was marvelous. The view of the gulf, the back deck. The property manager BJ was very helpful. The cottage is very nice and comfortable. Lots to do nearby, we hope to be back.

Go North!
We enjoyed our stay in this tranquil Northumberland Shore location. Well kept older cottage in a prime, private setting. Friendly neighbors and a beautiful view in all directions. We enjoyed our stay and hope to be back sometime!

Beautiful ocean views and access
Our group had a wonderful time. The cottage has everything needed for a very comfortable stay and there’s something here on this lovely beach for all ages to enjoy.

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful cottage just steps to the ocean and a private beach. Clean, spacious and all as advertized. Warm greetings from the owner and property managers Brian and Cathy set the stage for our quiet and idyllic vacation. We will be back!!!

Awesome cottage!!!
We had a wonderful stay. Couldn’t have asked for a more relaxing and beautiful view. The neighbours were friendly and knowledgeable about the local amenities.

Cottage
This is such a charming cottage with an eclectic mixture of furniture. The view is amazing, and the hosts are super friendly and welcoming. I would certainly stay here again.

Awesome views awesome sunsets
Felt very much like home as opposed to a rental. The views where amazing. The host Bill, and Cathy and Brian made us feel like we where friends not just another customer highly recommend for a nova scotia stay. If you want a great relaxing vacation its a great spot..

Another Great Stay
Our fourth year here and it does not disappoint! Beach is beautiful and and easy access to day trips to PEI or Cape Breton is the weather is not cooperating. Jacqueline had the place spotless for our arrival and JB the caretaker and his life partner Kate are true gems! Highly recommend this location!

Outstanding !
We really enjoyed our stay. The weather was hot & sunny every day so the kids were able to enjoy the ocean and sandy beach during the day, and have smores at the beach bonfire at night. The cottage is very clean with lots of room . The covered sun porch out front was amazing !

Bissful Retreat
The cottage looks directly out on the ocean and offers an amazing vista each day regardless of the weather. Really enjoyed the many hours on the beach enjoying the views, relaxing, swimming and reading. Cathie and BJ are wonderful hosts attentive to every need.

Excellent stay
The location on a bluff overlooking the water was superb. The cottage was clean and well-equipped. The caretakers were friendly and helpful in any situation. The owner checked in on us many times during our time there. The stars on a clear night were amazing. I plan to stay there again in the future.

The Cottage was built by my grandparents in 1946. It was refurbished by my parents in 2001 with an addition, and has been conscientiously maintained since then. A family treasure, the Cottage is located on one of the most beautiful beaches in Nova Scotia. Unfortunately, hurricane Fiona took down many trees in September 2022, so the area is still recovering.from tree loss.
The Cottage bears Nova Scotia registration number STR2526B8865 valid to March 31, 2026. By local regulation, three percent of guests' base payments are remitted to Pictou County for tourism marketing and improvement annually. The fee is subject to HST.
