Spend your next ski getaway mere steps from the base of Steamboat Ski Resort at this elegant, ski-in/ski-out condo at Ptarmigan House in Steamboat Springs! Inside, you'll find a gorgeous living space dressed with burnished floors, a wood-paneled ceiling supported by exposed joists, a gas-powered fireplace, and lots of comfortable furniture. Use the high-speed WiFi to research a new recipe or catch up on a bit of remote work or school, and spend your downtime at home relaxing on the private balcony or reclining on the comfortable sofa with a bowl of buttered popcorn and a good movie on the mounted flatscreen TV. Come home from your daily hikes, bike rides, or thrilling ski sessions to warm up in the community hot tub and get dinner going using stainless steel appliances in the modern kitchen and the community gas grill.

The Ptarmigan House Condominiums enjoy a ski-in/ski-out location just south of Gondola Square, allowing you to stroll (or ski) to the main base area at Steamboat Ski Resort each morning to hop on board the gondola or the Christie Peak Express. On the grounds of Ptarmigan House, you'll have access to a community outdoor hot tub to soothe your legs after a day of skiing, as well as a shared gas grill for afternoon barbecues all summer.

Steamboat Ski Resort is immediately north of this complex, offering 18 lifts, 169 trails, and 2,965 skiable acres across Mt. Werner, Sunshine Peak, Storm Peak, Thunderhead Peak, Pioneer Ridge, and Christie Peak. After a day of skiing or snowboarding, you can soak in one of the area's famous hot springs, which include the Old Town Hot Springs (three miles northwest) and Strawberry Park Natural Hot Springs (10 miles north), both of which are open in summer as well. Spend a day snowshoeing, cross-country skiing at the Haymaker Nordic Center (two miles south), or perusing the charming shops, restaurants, and galleries that await in downtown Steamboat Springs (three miles northwest).

In the warmer months, Steamboat Ski Resort transforms into a hub of hiking and mountain biking, with 30 miles of cross-country mountain bike and multi-use trails on Mt. Werner alone. Take a scenic gondola ride, tee off at the Haymaker Golf Course (two miles south), or book an excursion with Steamboat Zipline Adventures (six miles south). You'll be less than a mile from an access point to the Yampa River Core Trail, a 7.5-mile paved, multi-use trail that runs along the river to the heart of downtown, allowing you to stop mid-way to explore the Yampa River Botanic Park with its beautiful ponds and sculptures.

The Ptarmigan House hot tub closure begins 10/1/21. The hot tubs will reopen at the beginning of ski season.
In accordance with HOA policies, please note we do not accept Emotional Support Animals of any kind. We do accept Service Animals. With the exception of authorized Service Animals, no other animals or pets of any kind are permitted at the Property. You also agree that we cannot and do not guarantee that no animals have been in the Property prior to your use or that the Property is free of animal or pet allergens, even if the Property listing states that pets are prohibited or includes a similar description.

Damage waiver: The total cost of your reservation for this Property includes a nightly damage waiver fee, plus tax if applicable (the “Damage Waiver”). (A discount may be applied for stays of 28 nights or longer, if permitted.) The Damage Waiver covers you for up to $3,000 of accidental damage to the Property or its contents (such as furniture, fixtures, and appliances) as long as you report the incident to the host prior to checking out. The Damage Waiver fee eliminates the need for a traditional security deposit.

Great Apartment

Two spacious bedrooms, well equipped kitchen, large dining / lounge room. Very handy to the hot tub, ski locker and slopes. Great for a family stay.

Great ski getaway!

The condo is in a perfect location, ski-in / ski-out right next to the gondola. The unit was very clean and had everything we need for a 5-day ski vacation. Beds were comfortable, hot tub was great, check-in and check-out process was easy, and the shuttle service was excellent. We will definitely look to stay here again!

Not ski in/ski out, horrible mattresses

I'm not one to complain normally but I booked this property because it said ski in/ski out. It is not. It is maybe ski in (not snowboard friendly) and walk 100+ yards uphill out. Very misleading and even the friendly Vacasa worker told us that. On top of that, the mattresses are the worst I've ever laid on. Absolutely horrible. My wife and I were on ibuprofen the whole time. Even my kids, who sleep on the floor sometimes, complained about their mattresses. We know it's not the owner's fault but if you are using the toilet, pray the upstairs neighbor doesn't flush because this unit's toilet burbles and bubbles fairly violently splashing whatever is in the toilet on whoever is currently on it. Other than that, its a good property with comfortable furniture in the living room.

Great stay!

My family loved this property, great space for 2 parents and 2 grown children. Great location to walk to many restaurants and activities. Quiet spot with lots of amenities. Only reason for 4-star rating is the living sofa is pretty worn, should be updated.

Know b4 you go! If location is key and that's "all" you're in the right spot.

We have stayed in multiple ski condos. No matter the price, I have come to expect the furniture to be out of date, somewhat uncomfortable, and not ideal. That being said, Ptarmigan house 27 was exectly that. The mattress was uncomfortable for me- I weigh 215lbs. My wife weighs alot less :) and was just fine. I must say all the staff (Holston,David and Matt) were wonderful they were unable to fix certain issues but tried there hardest on every occusion to make us happy.Thank you for that! The main issue was the breaker/fuse being out. One side of the wall in the living room/inside the guest room were you wood charge a phone was out, and the area where you would get ready in front of the bathroom mirror on the guest side was out. The Condo had very thin walls but everyone seemed to go to bed at a decent hour so it worked out well. Now if you are just going for skiing/snowboarding and need a close location to the mountain this is a great place, christy's gave us 20% discount for renting skis from them for being in Ptarmigan. BTW-Vacasa gave us a discount because of the fuse problem. Thank you for doing good business!

the location to the gondola is really good. The staff were really friendly. The condo itself is laid out really well and is roomy.

Selected a different unit

The location was great but this unit is a dump. I was hoping for rental of a condo that was "personal" to the owners. This unit is clearly a rental property and not used by the owners. The furniture in the living room is completely worn out and very uncomfortable. The beds are old school springs that are past their prime. The location is ideal but until they update the beds and living room furniture, this unit is not worth the money. The staff at Vacasa were very helpful.

Acceptable

The kitchen was well stocked with all necessary items. The unit has very dim lighting and not great windows, so it felt dark regardless of the time of day. The living room furniture is very tired and the unit absorbs odors - of the neighboring units’ cooking smells and of the chlorine from the hot tub that sits just below the master window. While the price was right, the very high management and owners fees made it not worth it.

Convenient Location

This is a great location. The condo was clean and could sleep a good number of people. But, the beds were hard and not very comfortable. The sleeper sofa was on the cheap end and it was better to sleep across it, rather than the normal direction. Lastly, the parking garage is rather cramped even for a mid-sized SUV.
