Local Experiences
Set in the scenic Saanich Inlet, Flagship 1 offers picture-perfect surroundings and a unique perspective of the area. If you have travelled the Malahat Highway, this is your chance to experience the waters below and even view the Malahat Skywalk from the inlet. Guests can also explore nearby inlets, beaches, waterfalls and coastal trails for both water and land-based adventures.
Pricing
Rates vary depending on the season (Peak or Shoulder) and the length of stay. The peak season base rate is $720 per night, based on full occupancy of eight people. Additional guest charges may apply depending on the property policy.

I really can’t say enough about this stay! We had so much fun and wished we could have stayed longer! Staying on a boat is a real treat and I recommend it to anyone that is looking for a new experience! Wow! Johan gave us a boat ride right to Buchart Gardens! Couldn’t have asked for a more lovely time!

We thought we would try this interesting and very diff spot.its an old boat that has been remodeled by Judy and Johann. It’s situated in a very quiet area. We used Johann small boat to tour around the coast, such a beautiful area. Judy has the kitchen full of whatever you may need. We felt like we were at a cottage but had all the amenities we needed. We loved seeing the wildlife and being on the water.

This is a retreat from the hustle and bustle. Highly recommended. All in our party would have liked to stay a few more days to fully enjoy the amenities which will become more numerous we were told such as kayaking and windsurfing. The only negative was no on board means of doing our laundry and internet and television access was not working but we were there to escape and unplug which we were able to do easily.

Our family of six stayed on the boat for five nights recently. There was ample room and the beds were comfortable (even the fold-out couch). All bedding plus extras were provided so it decreased my packing. We were pleasantly surprised with the amount of hot water and water pressure in the showers. There were enough washrooms and showers to accommodate all of us. The boat is much bigger than it looks from the photos & it does not rock much at all. The sights from the deck: seals, otters, jellyfish, even small squid one evening, are very entertaining. This is a memorable type of holiday. The kids enjoyed the paddle boards and kayak and having a ride on the skiff when Johan ferried us all to a great beach down the way. Feel free to contact Judy prior to boarding with any questions as she will provide the answers and it’ll give you a better idea of what to bring, etc. We enjoy some adventure mixed in with our vacations & staying on the boat definitely checked that box!

The location was incredible, and staying on a houseboat was such a unique and memorable way to experience the area. Judy and Johan were wonderful hosts who went above and beyond to help us enjoy everything the site had to offer. We loved kayaking, paddleboarding, crabbing, and taking the dinghy to explore nearby beaches. There were plenty of opportunities to explore or just relax. One of the highlights of our stay was when Johan took us by boat to the marina side of Butchart Gardens for an evening concert. It felt like our own secret entrance. Judy and Johan thought of every detail…even providing blankets for the cool moonlit boat ride back after the concert. One thing to note is that parking is at a different marina than the houseboat, so it's worth packing with the short boat transfer in mind. The ride to the houseboat is beautiful - we just would have packed a little differently had we known in advance. Our group, including my teenage twins, my parents, and friend, is always up for an adventure, and we had a wonderful time. It was a one-of-a-kind stay, and we would highly recommend it.

Unique accommodation, perfect for an active family with teenagers or older children. It is an old ferry converted into a 3100 square foot house on water, with beautiful views of the surrounding water and hills. There was ample room inside and on the deck to enjoy nature. Our hosts were very welcoming, nearby and attentive to our needs. They transported our family and luggage by boat to the site, as the car is parked uphill. My son was interested in crabbing, so our hosts obtained crab bait and supplied the equipment for the activity.There is a beautiful park within 1 mile of the location for walking/hiking and mountain biking.The closest market is 6 miles / an 11 minute drive, so we found it more convenient to prepare our own meals. However, the hosts were kind enough to transported us by boat to the nearby bay for dinner, one night.There are 2 paddle boards and a dinghy available to explore the water. My daughter enjoyed the wildlife (jellyfish, seals, sea otters and eagles) from the paddle board. Unfortunately, the kayaks were not available/ damaged during our visit, but it was easy to rent them at Brentwood Bay nearby. Our stay at Flagship will be memorable, due to the unique setting, gorgeous location and kind hosts. Unique accommodation, perfect for an active family with teenagers or older children. But, it may not be suitable for persons with physical limitations, due to stairways and outer doorways requiring a high step over.

8 guys in a hockey tourney thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Owners, Judy & Johan r helpful, welcoming, accommodating & gracious hosts. King, Queen, Bunk Beds & Couch queen sized pull-out, &/or room to sleep on 3 large couches. Huge screen TV in the spacious living rm, a great reclining Lazy Boy, dinner table for 6, well-equipped kitchen, great BBQ, great upstairs lounging deck, Wifi, etc. Quiet nights, security locked gate, safe & secure. Adjacent boating excursions & lots of watercraft passing in what's a very clean looking Marina. Downtown location is close to restaurants, grocery stores, liquor stores, craft stores, ferry landing, etc. Would gladly return & wishing Judy/Johan the very BEST!!!
