Perfect for a family vacation or a couples retreat, this beautiful beachfront house has everything you need for your next tropical getaway. Tivives is a port and bay located in the canton of Esparza on the Southern Pacific coast of Costa Rica in Puntarenas Province about 5 miles south of Caldera, and less than an hour from San José. The port town has a vast mangrove swamp, a great sports fishing platform, and a spectacular silver-colored beach. The beach features a point break that breaks to the left and right in a gnarly fashion at a river mouth over a sandy bottom. The area is under the protection of the government so it is largely undeveloped.

Playa Herradura's beaches, Los Sueños Golf Club, and fishing opportunities are all a short drive from this home. The heart of Jacó is a little further from the house, with the famous shops, restaurants, and nightlife of Pastor Diaz Avenue.

This beach house features a private secure gate, beautiful gardens with palm trees, a full kitchen, and an open furnished tv -living room with high ceilings. Enjoy your days in the private outdoor pool and furnished patio just a few steps from your exclusive entrance to the lovely sandy beach of Tivives.

THINGS TO KNOW
This vacation rental is close to a beach and a short drive from a mangrove swamp. As such, raccoons, small crabs, and other animals are likely to be in the area.

Parking notes: There is free parking available for 2 vehicles.

Check in/check out times are unreasonable

The house itself is wonderful except some issues with two electrical currents that shocked you when you tried plugging in. The check in Time being 4pm and the check out time being 10am is a little unreasonable and they had no flexibility. Additionally, the beach is very dirty there. Brown water and incredibly strong currents and waves so in the 4 days we were there we couldn’t go in the water once. The sand also is full of wood and garbage from the river that flows into it next door. Overall we wouldn’t stay there again even though the property itself was very nice.

Family Vacation

The house was beautiful, it definitely exceeded our expectations. The pool, the yard (which is HUGE) all of it was great. Being able to just walk out of the yard and be on the beach was a huge bonus, especially with kids in tow.

Amazing Location on the Pacific Ocean

Our family voted this our favorite home to stay at during our time in Costa Rica. The location is so spacious and such a fun way to enjoy some R&R. We particularly enjoyed the easy access to the ocean, the beautiful, uniquely shaped pool, and space that allowed us parents to have a separate sleeping house to ourselves while the kids could enjoy rooming together in their area. The living areas were nicely decorated and we had all the cooking amenities that we needed to enjoy the stay. We would definitely come back again and are thankful for the incredible hospitality that was provided for our stay. Thank you!

Beautiful property

My family and I stayed at this house and the location is fantastic right on the beach that is very private, we saw very little people on the beach. The house is nice, but was unaware that it is somewhat exposed to outside aka roaches, bugs etc can fly into the main living space. The pool was really nice. The up stairs shower had some issues, but master bath was fine. We ended up using outside shower most of the time. No hot water or warm for that matter. For 4 of us we were only given 4 towels so had to use sparingly. Washer was great to have, but dryer didnt work. Two nearby restaurants that were really good. The “market” nearby is not a market unless you only need chips, ice and beer. No meat or veggies. Linda’s restaurant was fabulous we went a few times on our stay. Its about a 15 min drive to house once you get off the main highway. They gave us a key ring with 10 keys, wish they were labeled so we didnt have to try each key for the many different locked doors on the property. Beautiful yellow tree out front and mango tree. Loved the hammock in the backyard. Black sand beach gets hot and wow lots of trash, pick up what you can to help our environment!

Perfect place to unwind on a beach

Clean house with everything that you will need, perfect to go to the beach with young children and come back to rest un the pool, only a few steps away.

Aucun code envoyé pour récupérer les clés. Seul indication etait de les récupérer auprès de lagent de sécurité. Les clés ny etaient pas. Nous avons attendu 1 hr a 1 heure du matin. Maison très belle, cuisine refaite, sdb du 2e étage vétuste, plage non baignable, vagues trop fortes et bcp de débris de bois et plastique. Petite maisonette wow. Epicerie et restaurant a 30 minutes. Terrain et piscine wow.

Beautiful and private!

The house was amazing! The beach was beautiful and clean. The pool was perfect for the whole family. Having 2 teenage boys, it was their favorite part! Everything was very private and the there are a couple close restaurants that were perfect for where we were! Over all great experience!

A few steps from the beach

The house is an hour and 15 minutes from San Jose Airport. The highway and tollway is very good. The side streets are mostly dirt roads. Playa Tivives is a very quiet beach. Only on Sundays do you see more than a few people on the beach. There are two restaurants near the house, both about a mile from the house. One on the beach and the other as you enter the beach community. There is a small grocery store there too, but it only has the absolute basics. The house is very comfortable just a bit secluded. The closest large grocery store is Maxi Pali about 30 minutes away. We found a few activities within 1hr and 30 min but most activities are 2-3 hrs away. The house is very clean. The wifi was very good. The shower never got hot. All the bedrooms require that you walk outside to get to the kitchen and living area. The kitchen is well equipped. You may need to buy some spices if you are planning on cooking. The pool is very nice. We spent a lot of time in the pool. We were there 12 days and the cleaning lady showed up to clean twice during our stay. She is very good. If you don’t mind driving and want to stay away from the crowd in a comfortable, clean, peaceful space, I would stay in Casa La Palapa again.

Costa Rica Gem

We just stayed at Casa La Palapa from February 17th to 24th and couldn't have been more satisfied. The pictures online don't give the house or property justice. Very clean, very authentic, absolutely perfect beach property to spend some time in the sun with Family or Friends. The 2 bedrooms in the main house were perfect for the kids while the separate villa was just a perfect getaway to give us some privacy from the kids. The pool and pool deck was perfect size and temperature for some relief from the heat and when you're not up for battling the waves and heat on the beach. Tivives Beach was long and scenic. The only negative of the beach was scattered plastic garbage but certainly doesn't take away from its beauty. There does seam to be some type of homeowners association based on the fact there's a guard house and roaming security guards. a garbage picker once a week would be all it would take to keep the beach perfect. The Village of Tivives (10min walk) had a small convenience store perfect for water, ice cream treat or snacks and also a few restaurants nearby that a perfect when you're not up for cooking. No crocodile sightings during the dry season so don't let any reports of crocodiles deter you. Highly recommended property and Vacasa is a great host.

Relax total

Me encanta lo mágico que es el lugar en sí. La casa está equipada con las cosas que puede uno necesitar, se encuentra limpia y lista para ser ocupada,La casa es muy fresca,el lugar es tranquilo de mucha seguridad todo el lugar, es ideal para señoras qué quieren desconectarse, como lo hice con mis hermanas. La casa ofrece una excelente vista al mar. Y nos gusto mucho escuchar y ver las lapas y el resto de la fauna de los alrededores. En fin un lugar de relax total 😊🌷

Incredible House

The location is some what out of the way but once you get there you could not be happier. The house itself is absolutely beautiful. The master suite is amazing and the pool tops it off. The beach is a black sand beach and the closest you can come to private. (maybe saw 1 other family the entire trip). Restaurante Costa linda you must eat at right down the road. It is family owned with some of the best people running it. The food is inexpensive and the quality is exceptional.
