The Worst VBRO Experience
The furniture in the house are very old and outdated: living room sofa is super soft, no support at all; all the dining room chair cushions are hollow, uncomfortable to sit and dirty stains; the bamboo bed swings; the metal bedframe made squeaky noise; mattresses are too soft, I almost decided to buy new mattresses; kitchen pots and pans are scratches heavily, I have to buy a new pan; outdoor patio furniture has dirty stains and smell on the cushions.
The 2nd floor bath tub drain clogged the first day we arrived, it was fixed by a plumber but got clogged again after one week. The dishwasher drain was clogged after we used it the 3rd time, the host asked us to pay for the repair and claim it was our misusage but it was actually drainage issue.
The description said it has outdoor surveillance camera but did not clearly identify the locations of the camera (it does explain in the recent description). The house is equipped with expensive, wide angle cameras: 1 camera on driveway, 1 camera on doorbell, 2 cameras on the outdoor patio area, 1 camera on the foyer inside. and THE NEIGHBOR ACROSS THE STREET IS WATCHING/MONITORING/SPYING 24/7. Our family felt no privacy at all to be outdoor and felt scary to be watched or recorded by host and neighbors constantly. Therefore, we spent more money to rent other hotel rooms to protect our family members to be watched by strangers.
It was very stressful to live in this house and constantly threaten by the host to have our family evicted because we forgot to lock patio doors. When we told the host that we are not home and asked the security company to come the next day but the host still has the security company to come in even we WERE NOT home which made our family feels very very upset AND INSECURED! We even got charged when the security company came to fix the system and locked patio doors.
This is our family reunion trip, we had family members came from Asia, Europe and USA. It was not an easy trip during this pandemic. We were very happy to visit Hawaii, and 98 years old grandma was happy to see her 3 years old great grandson. However, we all felt upset, scared to live in this house and we have decided not to rent VRBO house anymore, we would rather have hotel rooms which is easy and simple and don't need to deal with host and neighbors.
