Tree View Tiny House - light filled, stone patio, close to Lewis & Clark, OHSU
Welcome to the Tree View Tiny House! A lot of room with a little foot print. This cute little home is on a dead end street behind a main house. There is a private entrance with a private seating area looking out into trees.
It is situated just off of Barbur Blvd in SW Portland, right near the bus line. It is about 5 minutes drive from downtown, OHSU, Lewis & Clark, and Tryon Creek Nature Park.
Have you ever wanted to try living in a Tiny House? Here is your chance! This one is 24ft long and 8ft wide with a two sleeping lofts, a kitchen, full bathroom, and a washer/dryer combo unit.
There are two mattresses / sleeping lofts in the tiny house. One has a queen bed and is accessible by staircase. The other has a full size ("double") bed and is accessible by ladder.
Please keep in mind this is TINY HOUSE living so there are some nuances. Think of this like a "glamping" experience in the city!

I have found over time that every VRBO is different and every guest’s expectations are different when they book a short term rental. It is my goal to make sure that I am as transparent as possible so that you can make an educated decision on your choice of where you would like to stay.
PET POLICY: All pets must be approved in advance. You must confirm that the animal has no history of property destruction, indoor urination/defecation, aggression, or excessive noise. I expect you to have the animal with you or crated when you're not home. In order to maintain an allergen-low environment for other guests, I have the cleaners do deep cleans after every animal stays there and hire a carpet / upholstery cleaner if necessary. Any undisclosed pet will result in a large penalty. FEES: Dogs and cats: $200. This fee does not cover any damages caused by the pet that result in excessive cleaning or repairs.
ESAs / Service animals: If you have an ESA animal please send my a copy of the paperwork including the letter from your healthcare provider. If you have a service animal trained to help you with a disability, I will be asking you the following legally allowable questions:
1) Is the service animal required because of a disability?
2) What work or task has the animal been trained to perform? (Your disability does *not* need to be disclosed)
NOISE: No excessive noise. No parties. No yelling.
SMOKING: No smoking anywhere on the property
CLEANING: Sometimes a cleaner does a poor job and it catches me (and you!) off guard. Please let me know if the cleaner missed something(s) important and allow me to fix the issue. I assure you that I strongly value cleanliness and any lack of cleanliness is not on purpose.
RENOVATIONS NEXT DOOR: Currently we are doing construction on the main house that is in front of the Tiny House. So there may be some construction activity going on during your stay. We only work a few days a week and the Tiny House is not disturbed at all. There is a pathway to the Tiny House that has some construction items next to it that you may need to walk around on your way to the Tiny House (just a few steps). There is also another walking entrance to the Tiny House.
TINY HOUSES IN THE WINTER: This is a tiny house *on wheels*. It is sitting on a trailer and does not have a foundation. As it doesn’t have a foundation, the plumbing is exposed to the elements. When temperatures go below freezing (only a few weeks out of the year in Portland), it is possible that pipes can freeze. When this happens, we do our best to accommodate, including trying to find places for you to shower, cook, or potentially stay for the remainder of the cold spell. But we can’t promise that we will have vacant units available for this. When the temperatures go below freezing, you will need to open up all cabinets and turn the heat up high so that the pipes get all the heat they can. However, it is more or less an act of god when the pipes freeze in a tiny house. When booking this tiny house, you are acknowledging this reality and that you are essentially “glamping”. It’s really nice glamping with cooking, plumbing, showers, heat and a warm bed to sleep in. But it is not the same as staying in a regular house.
HOT WATER:
The hot water tank is on propane and is an instant tank, so it can have issues from time to time. The propane tank can run out and needs to be switched out for a full tank. Instant hot water tanks for a Tiny House are finicky so please be patient.
Instant hot water tanks can come out hot so sometimes finding the perfect temperature of water can take some adjusting with the hot and cold water to find the sweet spot. If you have any trouble just let me know and I can help.
TOILET:
The toilet is a macerating toilet. It works like a standard toilet, but some folks may wonder what that extra box is behind the toilet or why the water it a little lower in the bowl.
IN A CITY: This apartment is on a quiet dead end street, but not very far away from Barbur Blvd. Please keep in mind that you are in a major city and you should expect occasional street noises, the far-off hum of I-5, and other things that go along with being in a large city.
AC: Please let us know if it starts getting hot and we will come and install the portable AC unit into the tiny house for the summer. We also have fans for you to use to bring the cooler air up into the sleeping lofts.
SUPPLIES: We provide you enough supplies to get you through a month. If you end up staying more than a month, it is on you to purchase your own supplies (e.g. TP, shampoo, etc)

Nice to meet you! I’m Tobin. I’m a NW Native, born and raised in Portland, Oregon. I lived in Eugene for many years, but moved back to Portland a while back. I enjoy hiking, skiing, mountain biking, glass blowing, dancing, good food, good wine, and going on adventures with my twin mini huskies.
You will also likely be chatting with my assistant, L.E.
