Activities are endless: apple picking, breweries/wineries, hiking, lake, horseback riding, golf, tennis, skiing... Take a peaceful morning walk on path across the street from the cabin. One mile to Founder's Overlook and amazing sunrises! 3min drive to ski, walk to trails.

The Area:
Ski/snow tube: The ski shuttle pickup is right on the corner. The ski area is approximately 1.3 miles down the road if you prefer to drive. Ski rentals and lift tickets need to be purchased in advance. Be sure to get your snow tube tickets as soon as they come available as they sell out fast.

Hiking: There are 30 miles of hiking trails for all levels on the mountain. There is even one that travels through the copse of trees across from the cabin! Trails are marked with picture signs of hikers. If you follow the trail, one half mile down the road, you will find The Nature Foundation at Wintergreen. Every Saturday a hike is lead from there.

Swimming: Chestnut Springs outdoor swimming pool is 1.75 miles from the cabin and is open from Memorial day through Labor day. There is also an outdoor pool at Stoney Creek available for your use. (Hours might be restricted due to covid).

Golf: Stoney Creek, Old Trail, Poplar Grove, Orchard Creek, and Swannanoa. (fees)

Other activities: Tennis (fee), spa (fee), Sherando Lake (fee), and Lake Monocan (fee). Also consider trips on the Blue Ridge Parkway or a drive to Crabtree falls.

Route 151 tours: The Silverback Distillery has real honey-liqueur infused Blackback Rye Whiskey (yum!). There are beer, wine, and cider trails if you prefer something else. Be sure to have a designated driver! You can also contact Valley Hop on Tours as they will pick up from Devil's Backbone or at the Wintergreen gate.

Lovely home and very comfortable

First thing I look at when searching for a vacation home is, is the furniture going to be comfortable? Is there enough seating to spread out? The answer here is a resounding yes! We thought two of the three beds were comfortable for adults, and the third would be fine for kids. You’ll enjoy yourself here.

Cozy and relaxing

Wonderful Cabin

Wonderful Get Away

The house was just perfect! They thought of everything, and even included a basket of toothpaste and toothbrushes! Cozy setting and very dog friendly. I would definitely return.

Perfect Getaway

We really enjoyed this cabin in Wintergreen. The home was spacious and very clean. The kitchen was well stocked and the fireplace was perfect. The home had that perfect “cabin in the woods” feel and the location was close to everything we needed. The staff was very prompt in answering all of our questions and even recommended a place for horseback riding which we loved. Can’t say enough and we hope to come back again soon.

Best vacation in years!

My sister from Pennsylvania and I and my two grown nephews stayed here for the week. I had not seen my youngest nephew in 10 years, since my mother‘s passing. My other nephew had only seen once. This place made us feel like we were right at home we had a fabulous fabulous time just reminiscing talking, sharing great food in this beautiful home it was just the most amazing trip! Best vacation I’ve had in years! Brought us all to tears when it was over… I highly recommend staying in this cabin! NANCY is an amazing host! Very easy to communicate with and the house was completely spotless! Will definitely stay here again in the future!

Girls’ Getaway!

My two lady friends and I wanted to try something in the mountains vs the beach for a long weekend trip. This cabin was definitely in the woods, but we absolutely loved it! It was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated in a woodsy, bear theme, and was well stocked with everything we needed for our stay. The location was not far from the Wintergreen Resort, which offered a restaurant and bar area, plus some live music. We spent one day on Route 151, doing wine tastings, ciders and brewery visits, but our favorite thing was sitting on the large, lovely front porch, in the most comfy rocking chairs, enjoying girl talk over coffee in the mornings and wine down time in the evenings! The beds were comfy and every bedroom boasted a ceiling fan with remote control, just perfect for the “hot-flashy” gals in our group! We absolutely did NOT want to leave, will definitely return, and made lasting memories, for sure! Thank you, Nancy, for allowing us to share in your little piece of Heaven! ❤️

Loved it!

We only stayed one night but it was a great stop along the way. Very clean, very comfortable.. super quiet spot if you’re not into a lot of people. I wish we could have stayed a couple more nights!

Great Stay!

The property was immaculate and well stocked with all the necessities and had anything you might need. Very picturesque location and wonderful views of the mountains. We Loved it and will come again in the future.

Great location and a really nice cabin

We really enjoyed our stay at this cabin. The grill was really nice to have. The internet was reliable and we had no issues with four people using it. The owner was quick to respond and very helpful. We would definitely recommend this to anyone

Family time capping a journey

We drove the Shenandoah and BlueRidge Parkways to Asheville. The final nite we stayed in this lovely home. I Wish we had done two bites and had been able to use the pool and hot tub in the spa not far away. The home is well appointed and well maintained. It was great.

Great place to stay for family

This place is beautiful!!!! I stayed here with my mom, son, sister, and niece. We loved it!!!! The owner is so sweet. She has everything you need! We will definitely be staying here again next time we come back.

Devils Bend Getaway

We were so comfortable with our stay in Wintergreen. The house had everything we needed and then some. The fireplace made our evenings so cozy. A wonderful property close to hiking, Nature Center, and Mountain Inn. Wintergreen Drive is very well maintained and the reflectors in the road at night made driving so much easier that most mountain roads. We will return!

fantastic

this was located on the wintergreen resort property so be ready for the cusrves and driving through the mountain. Everything was beautiful the place was very clean and super cozy. We enjoyed our stay, the beds were clean and comfy, the ammenities were great, no cpmaplaints at all!

Wintergreen retreat

The house was great and the property was beautiful. The only downside was the amount of time it took to get to local attractions. It is a very remote location and going even short distances as shown on a map takes a very long time.. I am from out of state and did not know the area so that one is on me.
