This 1842 Federal House invites you to stay in a Luxurious, Private & Spacious Suite, with King Bed, well appointed private bath, comfy seating area around the Fireplace, dining table, Wet Bar with fridge and microwave, desk, TV and hi speed internet. A savory, homemade breakfast is served in the main Dining Room or delivered to your suite each morning. The wet bar with fridge and microwave is stocked with beverages, ice, coffee, coffee maker, tea, tea kettle, small oven, blender, glasses and dishes. The city of Galena does not allow us to serve or sell alcoholic beverages. Please feel free to provide your own. Outside relax on the front patio or in the back garden. On site, off street parking. Excellent location on Bench Street in the heart of Galena's historic district, next door to the Library and just steps from Main Street for all the restaurants and shops. Walking distance to Grant's home. The trail system for hiking is just out the back door. Ride a few blocks to the miles of biking trails. The Federal House is a petite B&B with just 2 suites. February Getaway

We've been to Galena many times. We have stayed in the Galena Territories. This was a nice change. The room was quaint. Everything was comfortable and the breakfasts were delicious. We would highly recommend it. We would stay here again.

Spacious suite in good location.

Nice, roomy suite and walking distance from the main shopping and dining street in Galena. Host was very communicative. Breakfast was homemade and very tasty, but I had to reheat in the microwave in the morning. It was not served in dining room or delivered in the morning per the listing.Would stay again.

Galena get away

Great B&B. Very private and Wonderful breakfast. Close to everything and we had very nice dinners at three restaurants downtown. Highly recommend this B&B!

Loved our stay at The Federal House

We loved staying here! Our suite was very comfortable! Kate was wonderful! She made us feel so special and welcome! Loved the delicious breakfasts! She stocked our fridge the night before with breakfast all we had to do was warm it up when we wanted to eat in the morning! The location was perfect to main street. We walked everywhere we went! Didn't have to worry about parking!the morning!

We had a great stay in this beautiful old home right in the heart of Galena. Easy walking distance to everything. Delicious breakfasts. Highly recommend!

Perfect Location

Our stay was the perfect getaway! Kate was so helpful in the check in process and with communication throughout the stay. The room was clean and cozy. Only one thing to note: the breakfast was not really as advertised. Although it was very good, it was prepared the night before and placed in our fridge for reheating in the morning. Still delicious homemade food. But unexpected.

Great Getaway!

Kate communicated well and our check-in was a breeze. We were a short walk from all the shops and fun of the downtown area. Would definitely stay here again!

Location was perfect for downtown activities. The house was stunning and our room was beautiful and cozy. Kate made delicious breakfasts each day. She responded quickly and was very kind. We loved our stay!

Very nice stay.

Out host was a blessing to my wife and I. Very welcoming and encouraging with knowledge of the area. So great to be 1 block from main street shopping. We loved the spacious room with sitting area.

Anniversary Fun

We enjoyed our stay in the Federal House again. A very Deja Vu experience for a 2nd year in a row. Pleasant, historic lodging with everything needed for a wonderful weekend. Very quiet with walking access to downtown restaurants, bars and shopping. Breakfasts were wonderful and we were surprised with a present of a locally made box of chocolates. The suite was well equipped with a comfortable king size bed, a gas fireplace, coffee/tea bar, and WiFi among other amenities. Our host and housekeeper made sure our expectations were exceeded!

Wonderful Experience

My wife and I celebrated our 25th anniversary by returning to the Galena area where we had come 25 years earlier. Our experience at this property was amazing. It has all the charms of an old house in a by-gone era. Yet, it has the modern amenities you would expect of a modern rental. The bathroom has been nicely updated, and the overall feel of the place was classic; yet contemporary. Our host Kate was amazing with directions, and she was easy to contact. Our breakfast was absolutely top notch both days. (Delivered right to our room). Kate even left a little gift for our anniversary! We couldn’t be happier. Highly recommended.

One of the Best

This suite was one of the best we have stayed in during our travels! And Kate was an amazing host! The location gave us access to downtown and was very easy to get in and out of. The amazing breakfasts each morning were outstanding. I would rate this as one of the best get away locations we have experienced.

Spacious, Historical and Great Location

We spent an amazing weekend at Federal House. The Alice Suite was beautifully furnished and had everything we needed for our stay. The fireplace in the sitting room made it so cozy. Breakfast every morning was made to order with locally sourced ingredients and delicious! Check in was a breeze and Kate was a wonderful host who offered great recommendations on what to see and where to eat Main Street was a shot walk away and we enjoyed shopping and dining locally all throughout our stay. We hiked along the River Trail every day with great views of the hills and river. We would highly recommend Kate’s place for your next stay in lovely Galena.

An old charming B & B in Galena

We stayed at "This Old House" last weekend in Galena! It was so charming but not without it's issues. There was a definite tilt to all of the floors, as I would expect in an old house. The rugs in the bathroom and hall were damp. There was a sign to make sure to keep the shower curtain inside the lip for the shower. Too bad the lip was so shallow. Oops I forgot my slippers, so I had damp socks all weekend. The charm of the large rooms and antique decor in our suite (the size of a small apartment) outweighed the problems that my construction (retired) husband could see; I loved the firm king bed and the outstanding breakfasts by the amazing on site chef!! Order everything!! It's all delicious! My only real issue was the dust, as I am allergic. As soon as we walked in, my nose and head filled up due to an exorbitant amount of dust everywhere and on everything, even the linens and towels. It was tough on me, especially since we were there over a below zero weekend and weren't able to leave due to -20+ wind chills. Even all of the churches were closed. With a thorough cleaning, and some airing out, it would have been a absolutely delightful weekend B & B. I suggest the managers invest in this; it would make a major difference. Thank you to both Kate and Gabby for your wonderful hospitality, which almost made up for the dust issue. Both ladies cared so much about our comfort and happiness. They went above and beyond to make us happy on such a dreary weekend!!
