Deceptive listing. Host has a photo of a dock that isn't on the property at all. House isn't lake side, there's a canal in the backyard. There's no hammock. Worst part of the house was the water. The water pressure for one of the showers wasn't even enough to push water through the shower head, but that's not the worst of it. The house uses well water, but it's not maintained at all. The water absolutely stunk. Only way I can describe it was sulphur and copper. It was so gross that a shower didn't feel like a shower. When we inquired about the water to see if there was anything we can do, the host sent over his "manager". Who ended up being his neighbor who admitted he wasn't paid for his time and told us there's nothing he could do. There are no working lights in the backyard, barely any lighting in the front. Pool was nice but sits below a large tree so critters and leaves constantly ended up in the pool. The real appeal is the fact that it's Lake Placid, and the listing gets it right when it's talks about tranquility, so I'll give him that. The host was kind enough to offer us a refund of two nights. But the hitch was, it was from HIS payout, not what we actually spent per night. So instead of the 113.98 per night we spent, he gave us 60 per night. The next hitch is, he even tried to short us on that! He sent us a screen shot of his payout which equated to 136 total for the two nights. His reasoning being "taxes". Had to call him and make him send the rest.
