Conductor’s Corner - Exquisite Railside Cottage in Folkston, GA

In a small town in the south, where the Okefenokee Swamp runs deep and railfans thrive, the Conductor’s Corner stands out. The Conductor’s Corner is a quaint 1,100 sqft cottage, originally built in 1925 and recently remodeled to entertain guests of Folkston, GA. The 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom home is located adjacent to the train tracks and neighbors the Folkston Railfan Train Platform. The open floor plan in the living and kitchen areas welcome guests with all the comforts of home. The master bedroom is equipped with a luxurious king sized bed and the secondary bedroom has two full beds. The updated bedrooms are adjoined by a jack & jill bathroom with a double vanity. The back porch has seating for a night of watching trains under the stars, while enjoying dinner from the provided grill.

A quick 5 minute walk from the Conductor’s Corner will lead to the heart of Main Street where visitors will find a plethora of hidden treasures: coffee shops, boutiques, local eateries, the Train Museum and so much more. Guests could spend a day exploring the habitats and waterways of the Okefenokee Swamp or take a short drive to neighboring communities such as Cumberland Island, Savannah, Golden Isles or Amelia Island or Jacksonville in Florida. All the comforts of home and the utmost southern hospitality are included in your stay on our corner.

The Conductor’s Corner also includes three premium, full hook- up RV sites - directly on the rail line.

House was very clean, conviently located and fit our needs perfectly. Our daughter was married at Daughter’s Barn and we rented the house for her and her 5 bridesmaids to stay the night before and the bridesmaids to stay the night after. Literally a 2min drive which was perfect. Hosts communicated timely and were very helpful.

Best place to stay in Folkston, by far! Easy check in, super clean and well stocked home, and perfectly situated for railfanning. Would definitely stay again.

Train watching weekend

We rented for my son’s birthday. He wanted to train watch. Literally the best location. All he had to do is open the back door. The house was in the perfect location, very clean and comfortable. No complaints. We will return.

Great Little Cottage

This is a great place. Clean and cozy. The little town it is in is very walkable. Several great restaurants within walking distance. We can't wait to go back.

Perfect for a vacation or a getaway. Folkston has the perfect small town feel. Great places to eat, shop and hang out. We loved the trains and can't wait to bring our granddaughter back!

Beautiful home in the heart of downtown Folkston .

My husband and I had a wonderful stay here. The home was beautifully decorated. Great linens and decor. It was a very peaceful stay. We enjoyed walking to restaurants and nearby shops. Would recommend highly.

Family vacation

This was a refreshing week that we spent here. I really needed a place that I could relax and get away from every day life. My family and I really enjoyed our time here. We got to see trains, went to Okefenokee swamp, and Cumberland Island. The hostess was very nice.

Such a cute place!

Loved the place! It was so cute and close to the daughter’s barn for a wedding. The only issue we had was the train tracks that are right behind the house. There was a train 7 times during the night.

Such a quaint little place. This was our second stay and loved it. It’s hard finding nice places in the area to stay when we come visit family. So glad we found this little gem! Our kids love watching the trains out the back door! We will definitely be back.

Awesome, awesome awesome

We really loved the conductors corner! Just a Dad and two kids 7-4 enjoying fall break at the Okefenokee! My kids really enjoyed the openness of the house. The large yard, the accessibility to downtown. The trains were awesome and my little boy really enjoyed running out to watch. This place is so close to the Oke Poke. It makes for a great Base camp. They even have three RV hook up spots. I’ll definitely be back with a bigger family for more adventures.

Charming Home Near Rails

My family have used this property 3 times in the last year. It is perfect for some of our family members to stay with kids only a block from our family home. Wonderful for small to moderate sized family gatherings and cookouts. We celebrated a family member's 45th birthday and the next day my mother's 96th birthday. Kids love the great view of the trains from the back deck and back yard area for play and grilling.

Convenience, Comfort, and Trains

Our kiddos loved it here! We can just step out the nice back porch and check out freight and Amtrak trains. Parents can relax on the porch with a view of the kids. The bungalow is spacious, comfortable, and modern. We loved the bed in the master bedroom! The owners were easy to communicate with and were incredibly friendly. Having access to convenience stores and some restaurants was great! We will be back!

Birthday Trainfanning

We came to Folkston to celebrate our son's 17th birthday. He is a huge rail fanner and this seemed like a perfect present for him. The cottage was as promised and was very welcoming and comfortable. This is our 2nd trip to Folkston, but, the main difference this time is that I actually slept through the night despite trains rolling on by!

Train watching from your backdoor!!

Stayed there for only 2 nights for the railfan winterfest. The house is very close to the tracks but still just far enough away.(separated only by a small parking lot and long grassy yard) You can see the trains just by opening the back door. Conductors Cabin is a home away from home. Extremely clean, the beds are very comfortable. the decor is up to date and very nice. Just a lovely and cozy home. And, the hosts are very, very nice and easy to work with. Definitely will try to stay there again in the future!

Wonderful Weekend Celebration at Mother's Childhood Home

Renting Conductor's Corner was simple with great pictures and descriptions of the property so we knew what to expect. Owner graciously allowed my sister and I to use the weekend reservation as the location for the family to celebrate our mother's 95th birthday gatherings and cookout. Location was great which allowed 2 of the grandchildren and their children to stay in the rental, only a block away from my mother's home. Renovations of the property are beautiful and well thought out, especially the addition of the back deck. This was where the great grandkids had a perfect view of the trains which was a source of frequent excitement! We all felt very much at home.

Wasn't able to access the property

Unfortunately, I was never able to access the property due to not receiving check-in instructions. When I arrived at 8:00 PM on the scheduled night, I realized I hadn’t received any details. I attempted to reach the host multiple times via app, call, text, and voicemail with no success. After an hour, I contacted VRBO support, waited on hold for 30 minutes, and was disconnected. I was ultimately forced to find alternative accommodations in a small town at 9:30 PM.The host messaged me the next morning around 4:00 AM and explained that she had sent the instructions earlier but there was a glitch with the app, and she had gone to bed early due to her work schedule. While I appreciate her apology and understand the glitch may not have been her fault, I was left stranded late at night with no way to get into the property and no support from the host or VRBO.I hope the host will consider a backup communication method in the future or ensure guests have what they need well in advance of check-in. This experience was unfortunately very stressful and disappointing.That said, the property is lovely from the outside and a perfect location for railfanning for someone who wants a little more space than the cabins.
