The cabin was great, the view was great, nice place for a family getaway. Only complaint is the 2 miles of rough road to get there from Highway 9.

Puma's Den

A large, comfortable home in a gorgeous setting! We enjoyed our stay. The kids said "Can we please come back here next summer?" I appreciated the well-stocked kitchen, too. We recommend breakfast at Mr Burro, in Fairplay. By far the best breakfast of our vacation!

While driving to other locations was lengthy, this property made all the driving worthwhile. Clean, spacious, and beautiful.

Beautiful

Our stay was wonderful! The house was very nice and the mountain sunrises were beautiful. We enjoyed the layout and loved the games downstairs. The road to the cabin was passable, but the description isn't kidding when they say 4-wheel drive is necessary.

The overall stay was great

I like this property this is always a great time. Everything was great just wish it had more space upstairs living room area. The beds were uncomfortable not the worst but definitely could've been better. Also be prepared to drive through snow and possible ice.

Great family home

Cute house that made us feel welcome and right at home. The kitchen was well stocked and grill was nice. The downstairs living room and kid's bedroom was perfect for teenagers. We had a great stay and the management company was very responsive to our one need and quickly dropped off a replacement propane tank when ours ran out. We caught lots of trout at FairPlay beach and hiked Mount Sherman during this visit.

Nice, clean, and cozy

Initially, no hot water, but property manager got maintenance involved and issue was resolved quickly. About a 45 min drive to Breck for skiing…

Mountain Vacay

We try to go to CO every year and this year we wanted to be more in the moutains. The location did not disappoint. Very close to several trails and lots of fourteeners. As other have stated the road to the home is very rough, but it seems like that anywhere you go in Colorado if you are off the beaten path a bit. The house was very clean,and the property manager was very responsive and helpful. They were more than happy to bring us anything we needed and did so very quickly. We would definitely stay here again.

Puma's Den

Beautiful place and setting. The only issue was the roads from 9 Hwy to the location. The roads were wash-boarded and just generally rough. it took me 20 minutes to drive the 4+ miles to the house. Hopefully the county maintainer will get on a more regular grading schedule.

Puma'a Den Review

We really enjoyed our stay at Puma's Den. Our favorite part was the quiet location and the outdoor deck. The areas we were disappointed by were that the king mattress in the upstairs bedroom was very worn out and uncomfortable. It has huge sink holes on both sides. The queen mattress downstairs was much better so we slept there all but the first night. Would be nice to have the king mattress replaced. Also, the lighting in the kitchen/dining/ living room could use an upgrade. It was very bright white bulbs and only in a few spots, so it was over bright in spots and dark in others. Could use more lamps, smaller warm yellow lights for a cozier evening. The lightbulb in the ceiling fan fixture didn't turn on. Lastly, the towels smelled bad. Not sure if they had been washed and put away still damp but they smelled musty and stinky. Would love to see these few key areas addresses and upgraded, then would love to return for another stay in the future.

Good mountain getaway

The cabin is at 11,000 feet and there is about 4 miles of gravel road to get to the cabin. It can be a little rough in spots, but still fine for a 2wd car (in our opinion). It's definitely worth it if a secluded home in the mountains is what you're after. I will say, honestly, that the view is just "ok." It's not quite as nice as it seems from the pictures. Trees block a lot of it and you face the South Park valley, not the peaks of the Mosquito Range that sit right behind the house. That's not to say it's not beautiful, just not quite what we expected from the pictures. Some reviews mentioned an uncomfortable king bed upstairs, but we found it to be very nice (probably replaced recently). In general, the furnishings inside are very nice and feel relatively new. It is cozy and well-kept. The kitchen is fairly lacking. Pots and pans are in rough shape, limited glassware. There are basic utensils but definitely bring anything you need beyond silverware and spatulas. Outside, the property could use some TLC. The deck is showing its age and there is random junk under the deck and in various parts of the yard. Randomly, there's a big shipping container near the car parking area. Driving up the road, you see other properties that seem to be much better maintained.

Puma's Den is in a great location. We enjoyed the proximity to several trail heads for hiking. The cabin itself is nicely equipped. The beds were comfortable and the other furnishings were more than adequate. The deck is wonderful, but needs refinishing. The view is good, but to say it's a mountain view is a slight stretch. Very nice washer and dryer. BBQ was nice and worked well. We always buy a bag of ice before getting to a property because you never know how well an ice maker works. This one works well and more than kept up with our demand. The downstairs is nicely furnished and remains cool when the sun heats up the upper level. We found it nice to sit in the shade under the upper deck when the sun was intense. Some clean up of that area and some kind of firm surface to accommodate sitting there would be a nice touch. Some aspects of the cabin could use some TLC and the management/ownership seems to acknowledge as much since it is fairly priced relative to neighboring properties. A few helpful suggestions for a little improvement that would go a long way are: Replace the bath towels. They are very stiff and rough. Update the kitchen faucet. It's very old and the handle leaks at times. Clean the windows. It's obvious this doesn't get done with the cleaning fee. A good general clean up of the grounds would make it look like someone still cares about the property. However, none of this robbed our joy of time in the mountains. We had a great stay in Puma's Den

Nice Cabin

We loved our stay in the cabin. I didn't realize the kids room was in the basement so one of us parents had to sleep in the queen bed in their room to make them comfortable. We saw lots of deer and other wildlife in the backyard. I would definitely stay again.

Quiet, remote luxury in the alpine woods.

Great stay was had by my wife and I over Memorial Day weekend. We were surprised by a “thunder” snow storm and two inches of snow with 25 degrees in the morning. This place has just about all one needs for a great respite and recharge. The only snag we had was a satellite that failed due to storms and no television but we could stream. Great views of South Park from the deck. The road in is rough and a Jeep or other four wheeler helps to get in to this locale at 11,000 feet above sea level.

Amazing cabin

This cabin was spotless and very well stocked. The grill worked great and the thermostat is a nest! Beds were comfy and the roads were totally fine even with some snow the day we checked out. My Subaru handled it without breaking a sweat.

Awesome cabin!! Perfect setting and location to the ski towns

What an awesome cabin located up in the mountains of FairPlay, cabins at like 10,000ft. It sits perfectly on the mountain and when the sun comes up in the morning it is remarkable the views you get. Great spot to stay if you wanna hit the ski towns, Breckinridge is like 35 min away. We did Breckinridge, vail for snowboarding/skiing then made our way to rabbit ears pass for backcountry snowmobiling (highly recommend it!!) I would definitely stay at this cabin again. one suggestion I would make is getting a humidifier for the cabin as we found it very dry in the cabin. A 4X4 truck or suv is a must in the winter! The road to the cabin can be crazy with the amount of snow up there. 10/10 great place to stay.. enjoy
