Circa 1900 Renovated Carriage House with private yard
If you’ve ever wanted to try country living, this is the way to go! This fully renovated carriage house/barn in the historic foothills of the Catskills has original charm with airy, loft-style spaciousness. Built in 1900 and updated just this summer, this 1,800 square foot space was once an artist’s studio. Now it’s your dream place in the country!
Pull into the driveway and step right into your two-floor country home. You have the entire house to yourself; it’s completely separate from the main building, where your hosts live. You’ll walk into a 900 square foot living room with open-plan kitchen that’s brand-spankin’ new. Have a rest on one of the ultra-comfy couches (one features a pull-out bed) in the living room, which has a full-screen TV and cable. You’ll feel at home in minutes in this comfortable yet antique-chic setting. (And yes, we have wifi!)
There’s a half bath on the first floor, and right off the kitchen is a perfectly private garden area for sipping your morning coffee or evening rosé.
Walk up a pine staircase that’s been described as “magnificent” by visitors to your master suite! Just off the stairs is a modern marble bath with shower. The first part of the suite is a lounge space with a couch (featuring additional pull-out bed), a desk/work space, and a full-screen TV. The second part is a king-sized bed, lots of closets, and spaciousness. If you live in a cramped apartment in the city, you’ll feel instantly relaxed in this airy, romantic setting.
There’s even more space outside, with three acres of land, trees all around, songbirds, and even visits from the local deer families! The air here smells sweetly of grass, and the nights are quiet; you’ll sleep well.
Your hosts, Carolyn and David, are just a walk across the lawn away. They’re longtime residents of Sullivan County and have prepared a guide to the best local restaurants, where to find mouth-watering macaroons, how to hang out with sweet alpacas who will nibble apple slices from your hand, good places to take a Pilates or yoga class, and which country auctions have the best antiques and curios for a song. They’ve been in the hospitality business for decades and are ready to make your stay as relaxing and lovely as possible.
Jeffersonville gives you the best in old and new. Your house is located just two and a half blocks from this small, sweet town. Peck’s Market has everything you need to stock the full-sized fridge in the kitchen (including vegan items), as well as beer/wine and toiletries. There are lots of new restaurants and galleries to try in this quaint old town. It’s also located near historic Woodstock sites like Bethel, The Museum at Bethel Woods, and more.
If you’ve ever wanted your own home in the country, come stay in our carriage house for a night, a weekend, a week, or a month!
Guest Access
You’ll have the entire building and private patio/garden area to yourself.
Travel to Jeffersonville: Jeff (as the locals call it) is about 90 minutes by car. Or take the Shortline Bus to nearby Monticello, and then a cab to Jeffersonville (about $TK).
Restaurants and the local supermarket are within walking distance. Most experiences (excluding some auctions) require a car.
Notes: We cannot accommodate children under age 12 or pets and also on certain week-ends the owner holds a garage sale on the property that may create a small amount of traffic that will not affect your private yard. Please reach out with any questions—we’re so looking forward to meeting you and having you stay in this beautiful carriage house!
