This beautiful Amish built log cabin sits on a rolling 80 acres just outside of beautiful Onaway, The sturgeon capital of Michigan. Five miles from the UAW Black lake golf club, 10,000 acre black lake, feet away from the trails and lasting memories. Perfect for hunters as this property is very close to surrounding state land. Centrally located from Rogers city, Mackinac, Petoskey and Gaylord. Bring your boats, quads, side by sides, snowmobiles and explore beautiful Northern Michigan. Free Wifi with strong connection. This property is also handicapped accessible/barrier free. Outdoor patio and fire pit. Plenty of room for your trailers and off road vehicles! Only 1/4 mile to the MI trail ride so no need to tow your trailer once you arrive. Perfect 4 season getaway.

Just as all the reviews have said Maj-Lis has provided a beautiful environment indoors and out. We loved walking through the paths mowed for a stroll amongst the sunflowers as well as the expansive area back behind the cabin. All the amenities were great and so many extra thoughtful items were provided. We'd definitely stay again and recommend The Getaway cabin to others

Our stay was a relaxing and a cozy stay. We loved the house and the property. Very clean and lots of open space. The house was fully stocked with everything that would be needed. The house has a wheelchair ramp and the lower was fully accessible, with a walk in shower which was a big plus for our daughter with Cerebral Palsy. We will definitely be returning for visits.

The house was lovely. Beds were comfortable and the bedding was so very soft. Property is beautiful. Very nice local restaurants with homemade food. We had a wonderful time staying at this log cabin. Highly recommend.

Third Year Running!

We absolutely love the cabin and look forward to our trip every year. It’s equipped with everything you could have possibly forgotten or need, it’s clean and comfy, and Maj-Lis is a wonderful host.

Relaxing Home

I just love this property, it close to my daughter and so comfortable, and so well stocked with anything you could need. The outdoor property is so peaceful and beautiful.

This cozy cabin was so comfortable. I loved all the art inside and out of the property. Fully stocked with supply's you may need.

I was born and raised in Onaway, MI but moved to Nashville, TN in 1996. I am happy to say I am once again a Michigander as we moved to Ann Arbor in 2025! My husband Daryl and I are extremely happy to host your stay. My very large family, The Chapmans, mostly all still live in and around Onaway and are all on board for helping my guests whenever needed. My dad, Clark Chapman, and brother Jesse are my onsite handymen and my cleaning crew is lead by my close cousin, Jeanie.

This is truly a family venture and we are so excited to have you stay with us. This is a working farm so you might see our fields being cared for by a local farmer as they plant and harvests wheat, barley and corn. The sunflowers are a labor of love by my dad and my Uncle Mark, Uncle Terry and brothers Jesse, Travis and Tyler keep the 100s of flowers arranged and blooming. Feel free to pick flowers on your stay. Come spring we will tap the maple trees to harvest for making syrup in cousin Chucks sugar shack and every fall the apple trees share enough fruit for dad to can some amazing applesauce. The big barn in over 100 years old and you are welcome to take photos near it but please do not go inside. The painted sunflowers ( by my niece Lina ) make an amazing photo op to share with your friends.

Being a family run venture there is always someone close by to help you if anything goes wrong or is needed. We don't sublet to an outside source to care for our guests. Feel free to wander the property and explore the beautiful landscape my family works hard to provide. Do not miss the sunrise from the front porch and you can catch an amazing sunset if you wander out in the fields and look west. Blackcap raspberries might be in harvest for your picking on the side of the shed and some beautiful grapes will show in summer on the vines so help yourself.
