Peaceful getaway

This was a lovely comfy desert house. Really enjoyed the vibe of the decorations, stargazing at night, and watching sunrises and sunsets over the wide open desert.

Isolated / Awesome Getaway

Just what we were looking for - very isolated in the high desert. The stars were incredible. We absolutely loved our visit. Things were just as advertised - no surprises. Hosts were very responsive and all was just as expected - thank you very much!

Wonderful Home

My husband and I were looking for a quiet desert getaway and this home was a perfect fit. It's private but easy to get to anywhere in the Joshua Tree area. A great place to come back to after a busy day at the park or Palm Springs. The home is well equipped and comfortable and we enjoyed wandering the property looking at all the wonderful mosaics and other art. We would definitely recommend this home.

Desert Time Machine

The theme of the Kaleidoscope Den is a blast from the past with all the art that makes the house a lot of fun. This is a comfortable, down-to-earth, genuine desert hideout that is easy access and private. The place is safe, spacious, clean and really relaxing with all the modern things mixed-in with the art of the past. The views of Wonder Valley are incredible from here, and it is well inland from Amboy Road making it very quiet location and the night skies are wonderfully dark, with ideal ground lighting that is safe and smart, you can see but not be blinded, and is a nightscape photographer's dream spot. We shall definitely be back. Sean & Gabi are great hosts, easy to work with and have great taste in their art forms! This is a great place to escape. Thanks again for the wonderful trip and we hope you enjoy the nightscape photos we had fun shooting there!

Desert Getaway

I think that this property is great. It's well outside of town and affords extremely dark night skys. The home is comfortable and very accessible. The hosts were communicative and easily reachable. I have couple of suggestions that would take this property to the moon. Invest in some better cutlery we like to cook and we often do at vacation rentals and dull knives tend to make cooking a little bit more difficult. In the same vein , a small bamboo cutting board would be alot better than the thin polyvinyl cutting boards. We wanted to listen to the vinyl records we brought and the ones that were there but the record player would not stop skipping or scratching the records. It might be time to upgrade. Other than these small things we had a great time an would return for the serenity.

Thanks for your review Jay! We are so glad you guys enjoyed your stay. We just dropped off brand new kitchen knives and bamboo cutting boards this morning based on your recommendations! Also, we checked out the record played and noticed that the needle was bent on the stylus :/ Unfortunately not all guests are familiar with vinyl record players and the sensitivity of the needles, and occasionally they are mistreated. Over time this damages them and renders them unusable. New needles have been ordered and we should be back up and running in no time :) Also, the record player does support bluetooth playback so thankfully guests can still tap into an endless source of music digitally in the meantime. Once again, thank you for your suggestions as they really do help us out a lot as you can see. Hope to host you again someday. You guys treated the property with total respect and left everything very tidy. Happy holidays and welcome back any time!!

fantastic stay, great host

The hosts were super great and its obvious they care greatly about their guests having a special stay. The hosts communicated clearly and the home/ property felt very loved. If you want to be out of the crowds of JTree but still feel that desert energy this is the perfect spot. The home and property were super unique and we felt very at home. The host recommendations were helpful and we enjoyed Palms restaurant. Adding this listing to our would visit again list

Wonderful Stay in the Desert

This was such a great home. Everything is as described. It's very secluded and private. The indoor AC system was great to have in the hot hot hot desert! Only thing I would say this home needed was some board games but folks can bring their own.

Desert Getaway

We enjoyed our stay very much! The pool was luscious to cool down in during the hot days. The bedrooms and living room are very comfortable. The grill outside was great especially since cooking indoors was too hot. We realize the desert is dusty and so we could understand the dust inside. The linen wasn't crispy clean, however, and had a very strong detergent/fabric softener smell that would stick to our own clothes.

Loved, Loved, Loved this home.

We were looking for a place to stay after Christmas to disconnect and reconnect. This home was it. The quirkiness of this home was just what we need. The yard display with "desert" art was something that we really enjoyed. Every time we walked round we noticed something different. The sunrise and sunsets were something you can not put into words. We enjoyed Joshua Tree one day with dinner at the Rib Co. (a must try). We also visited The Glass Outhouse desert display. This is a diffident must do! we then enjoyed donuts after at the Jelly Donut. Our family of four fit perfectly in this home and was enjoyed by all of us.
