Iron Horse Lakes - remote getaway near Wichita, Newton and Hutchinson, KS

This is a great getaway, centrally located between 3 cities...Wichita, Hutchinson, and Newton. We are only 15 minutes from each! This is a better experience than a hotel. It is private and you can connect with nature. Enjoy the lakes, fire pit and patio. Those who stay are welcome to throw a fishing line into our sandpits!

PLEASE NOTE- This is a remote & awesome fishing cabin. Guests must bring towels, toiletries, and bedding! Also, this is the only home on the 35 acre property. However, we do have family and friends that access it on occasion for fishing. You may see one or two people fishing during your stay, but they’re a friendly group and should stay out of your space.

Firearms and ATVs are strictly prohibited.

great place to stay and get away off the beaten path but not far from town. the owners are very friendly and cover ensuring when they talk with you. couldn't have asked for better place or owners

Captivating

As soon as you round the bend and see the teepee, the charming cabin, and then the water, it feels as if you have traveled a long distance to a rare space! They pay attention to the smallest of details and went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. We were a group of women who would all like to return with our spouses!

Good some stuff was not working

It was an amazing property but the toilet stoped working and then the water in the cabin stoped working and the out door speakers where not working as well

Even better than expected

Much more interesting and private than it seems from just looking at it on Google Maps. The owners are great people and are super responsive to any inquiries. I will stay here again!

Super fun getaway!

Even though it was crazy hot (109!) the day that we were there, we still had a great time. Everything was just as described and I'd definitely go back...when it's cooler out!

Great fishing adventure!!

Brad's place is a great outdoorsy place to get away for a fishing weekend!! The accommodations were as stated so we were overly prepared! Great place to unwind & escape the city/internet life. Having the two lakes to switch between for fishing was awesome...caught bass on both sides! West side made for beautiful sunsets!! Communication with Brad was always quick & helpful! My family & I will definitely be staying again in the future!!

Very cool little gem!

This is a very cool little fishing cabin! It is very well done with great little details right down to the lighting and new cabinet murphy bed. The bathroom is separate from the cabin but right next door to it. The bathroom has a loft at the top and is a great place for kids to enjoy. The teepee is pretty cool, too. We did go in the middle of July so it was quite toasty. There are 2 fishing ponds on the property and my husband and son really enjoyed having access to that. I did spend time in the pavilion while they fished and it was a nice amenity to have. There is a fridge out there with a fire pit and a giant table. There is a tv in the cabin with satellite. As the listing states, there are sometimes other people out there fishing and swimming but they are leaseholders to the property. We saw 9 people on our first day and 2 people on the second day. But they stayed by the ponds and were super nice when we did have the opportunity to speak with them. We understand that it is Summer and this is the best time to be at the ponds so we didn't mind. My husband got some good fishing tips from a few of them. Being a leaseholder, they can use the bathroom and the pavilion but they really just stayed at the pond. We would really like to book another stay in the Fall and take advantage of that huge firepit right in front of the cabin! We spoke with Brad a few times with some questions and/or suggestions and he responded fairly quickly and was very accommodating. Definitely recommend!

Peaceful, easy to find, caught a few fish.

Overall stay was good. The small AC unit couldn’t keep up with the 90 plus degree temperature, so it was a uncomfortable night of sleep.. Next time we will choose a different time of year.

Better than expected!

Pictures don't do this place justice. It is an awesome place just to get away and enjoy yourself. There were people that showed up to fish that weren't part of our group but they were all friendly and just did their thing. We were aware this could happen. A gentleman stopped by to check on us once and make sure everything was okay. I would definitely recommend it to anyone! The facility is fantastic!

peaceful getaway

What a great time we had!!! If you are looking for a vacation with no business, this is it. I took teenagers, youth and an toddler. They swam, fished, took the boats out and watched the train everyday. There is no Wi-Fi, and limited tv, so bring games or your own device to watch movies with. There is an outdoor stereo system that they danced to nightly. The outdoor lighting was a big hit. The little ones LOVED the tepee and the drums. They even camped out in it one night.. There is a full size fridge in the outdoor entertainment area so we were able to go food shopping on our way there and once we arrived we never left. We definitely plan on making another trip.

Amazing place!

Me and my wife had a great time here! Just far enough away from city life, while also being able to get wherever you need in a short time. There was a lot of thought and hard work put into the place and it shows! Wonderful place, we will definitely be back!

Mini Vaca.

It was a great little get away between towns on our trip through Kansas. Unfortunately the weather did not allow us to use the outdoor space, but the cabin was very cozy and our daughter enjoyed the loft. We will definitely try to make it back when the weather is better and enjoy the outdoor space! It was even better than the pictures!! The host was great! Thanks again!

second stay here - enjoyed it both times. tranquil location about 40min outside wichita. great place to enjoy the company of friends around a warm fire. scenic setting with a small pond.

Great Staycation

It was the perfect get away to try our first vacation with our little boys. We didn't want them to be overwhelmed. They loved the teepee as well as being able to just walk down to the water to play
