Quaco Cottages - The Shipbuilder's Summer Kitchen
Surrounded by spacious grounds of lawns, trees and flowers, this 1½ story structure was built in the early 1900’s as a summer kitchen addition to the main house (The Shipbuilder's Cottage built in 1812) When originally built it contained a kitchen, pantry, storage, root cellar and upper level living area.
Today, the lower level, with its original wide plank floors, contains a fully equipped comfy kitchen, full bathroom and laundry room. The upper level with its low sloped ceilings offer two comfortable bedrooms with double beds. This cozy space and the surrounding property offer is a great place to relax after a day of exploring the nearby beaches and trails.
Outside there are many places to relax and take in the view of the Bay, including a screened-in gazebo (shared), hammocks slung between trees, and a sprawling lawn for playing games. The yard blooms all summer long with perennial flowers and fruit trees, and on calm nights the world's highest tides can be heard washing into shore, carving the red rock coastline to smooth perfection. The Summer Kitchen has its own patio, BBQ and fire pan just outside the front door.
The cottage is located at 170 West Quaco Rd., 5 km from the Village of St. Martins, the harbour, restaurants, cafe, art and gift shops, tourist information centre, museum and the Sea Caves. The Fundy Trail is 13 km from the cottage. Within walking distance of the cottage is The Quaco Head Lighthouse (1.3kms), and Brown's beach (1.9kms) - which is as quiet as it is scenic and a rock lover's dream. There is also a coastal trail that connects the two.
In consideration of the peace and serenity offered by its location, guests are asked to be considerate of the property owner and those in the other rental units by observing a quiet time from 10:00 pm-9:00 am.
The owner Nick and his fatherJoe, the property manager, reside on site and are happy to help if you have any questions regarding the property or about planning your adventures in the area. Although involved in continuing property maintenance, your privacy and an enjoyable vacation stay is our priority.

Comfortable, nice location, very happy to have a dog friendly place and including dog sheets!I didn't notice when booking that there's no living room. Wouldn't have needed one if the weather was nice so I wasn't paying attention when booking, but just a head's up if this is important to you

Enjoyed my stay here very much - the cottage is extremely well equipped with everything needed, is very spacious yet quaint and charming, great wifi, beautiful grounds and lots of things to explore nearby.

This is a wonderful character property. Perhaps not surprisingly, the kitchen was fantastic to work in. Lots of counterspace and good amenities. The available avocado oil, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar were a pleasant surprise. The firepit was a welcome evening addition. Please be advised this is not an accessible property for those with mobility issues. The sleeping accommodations are up an 11-step staircase, and bathroom facilities are on the entrance level. One must also walk through one sleeping space from the master to get to the bathroom, which is also not the best for some travelers. Highly recommended.

Lovely getaway!
We loved our stay. It had everything we needed and we took advantage of the hidden secrets in St Matthews that are listed in the visitors guide. Would recommend to anyone looking to explore the Bay of Fundy.

Home away from home
Beautifully appointed comfy and cozy home near wonderful natural sights. Cottage had everything we needed, was clean, quiet, and convenient to local sights.

Great spot!
This is a beautiful rustic cottage. My family and I really enjoyed our stay here. When we come back to New Brunswick, there is a high probability that this is the place we will stay. Thank you for great accommodations.

Beautiful Get Away Spot!
Really enjoyed our stay at the Summer Kitchen! Joe was very helpful and lovely to deal with! Such great beaches and the town of St. Martin’s had such a great laid-back vibe.

Great place to unplug
If you’re looking for a place where you can walk to the Bay of Fundy, enjoy a quiet evening after a seafood dinner, watch the tides go out and come back in, then this a great choice

Joe was there when we arrived so Easy check in and check out! The kitchen had everything we needed, there were 6 of us staying at the cottages and we had dinner in our kitchen every night! Joe and Nick had great suggestions for sight seeing and directions on how to get there. And our daughter got engaged. One of the best stays and vacations we’ve ever had - thank you

Wonderful Experience
The cottage was extremely charming, located near so much to see and do and was very comfortable. There were so many little touches, from fresh flowers in the kitchen to interesting books and brochures about local subjects that made the stay special. We wish we could have stayed longer.

This place was relaxing . Had everything a person needs. The property is well maintained and nicely landscaped . Very enjoyable.I will return.

peace and quiet
located in a peaceful spot, it is a very very cute smaller half of an old house. it has everything you may need to disconnect and relax. you are close to the ocean, a light house, and restaurants. i would recommend this place.

Stay for Shanty Festival
Property was exactly as advertised and was nicely equipped with appliances, dishes, towels and bedding etc As advertised it is out of town such that a car is required to go to St Martins but it is not far. Pretty area and quiet.

Very good
Beautiful place. Old cottage with character bringing older times. Well equipped. Not recommended to older people who need to go to the bathroom several times at night.

Nick fell in love with St. Martins while exploring the rugged beauty and vast stretches of pristine coastline along the Bay of Fundy by kayak. He spends much of his time in the outdoors as a wilderness guide and canoe and kayak instructor. Both Nick & Joe enjoy sharing the property and their knowledge of the area with guests
